I was sceptical about all of them given how little football they’d played. But so far I’ve been proven wrong as they’ve really improved us.NabySarr said:Early days but January business is looking very good so far. Coady, Clarke, Chambers and Dykes all making a huge difference. Dykes especially is way better than I thought he would be. Would be happy signing all 4 of them in the summer

I’m in love with Lyndon Dykes.10

It's a better unit with him in it. He reads the game exceptionally well at times.ValleyGary said:Have to say Doc again, the amount of important covering challenges he makes is outstanding15 -
In a very industrious manner, he does the hard work efficiently and showed excellent strength shielding of the ball, when the forward attempted to push and run around him, on a few occasions.valleynick66 said:Back to being an organised competent if not great team.Always in the game and rarely looked too troubled.Clarke impresses each game.
I thought Stoke were very ordinary and never really impressed. But for a few nervy moments, we allowed them to have possession and they did very little with it.
Finally, did anyone notice NJ go up to Stoke manager on the pitch and he leaned into his face like a madman and said something....oh how is love to hear exactly the words uttered.
I couldn't give a feck on how pretty we play right now. The QPR manager said we just play long ball, well Stoke never read the script because that is our goal in a nutshell. Kaminski boom, Dykes knock-down, and TC charges after it beating the defence and only the keeper to beat, side steps and game over (almost).8 -
Brilliant. Can I use that when I speak to John Coates?bigstemarra said:Fantastic result - the boys are fighting for NJ and the shirt...we'll be fine.
Hat tip to Tyreece; showed the necessary composure when it mattered. Take a bow, son.
Take that, you crockery fondling f**kers!

With the ball he’s useless but when you’re a battling champ outfit surviving he’s gold dust. So weird he was cast out but I’m glad NJ saw th error and changed his ways.Exiled_Addick said:

Imagine living with Nathan Jones. I bet he can’t even win a game of Connect 4 without losing his shit.39

Great point. His experience comes through every game. Sniffs out the odd chance for himself too.Callumcafc said:Three games with Coady marshalling the midfield and Chambers helping us find balance on the left wing.

Three back to back clean sheets, seven points and we’re back atop the clean sheets table for the division.
Say what you want about Nathan Jones but he knows how to fix it when it’s not going well.3 -

Finally someone found a big enough banjo to hit the cows arse.
its been a problem all season, can’t and don’t take our chances and NJ or the coaching staff haven’t found a solution to the problem. Admittedly Godden being out for so long hasn’t helped.
Let’s hope we find a solution in the close season, if not before.
But, as they say, it only takes one and thankfully it was us who scored.
Ultimately a very good win.

What a bloody nervy end to the match. Thought Stoke were going to snatch a point at the end but our defence stood firm.
What great signings Chambers, Clarke & Coady were......and with Bell back the back 5 looked impressive once again.
Also admirable mentions to Dykes & Docherty. And to TC for finishing his chance with aplomb.
Everyone put a shift in & put their bodies on the line. 7 points clear of the dreaded drop zone & have a little bit of breathing space. As long as we dont lose next week to Pompey then we have a good chance of staying up.
Phew.31 -
Looks like Sichenje was all ready to come on before the ref blew, he'll be getting hate mail from half of Kenya

Either way like last season when he had some time out the side, he’s come back and looked a machine.
Maybe Jones knows exactly what he’s doing with him!1 -
Can’t help feeling that Nathan knows what he is doing.
In ‘Jones the Baptist’ we believe.4 -

Posts like this make me smile, especially about him acting like a dick, and not acting like a grown up.I mean the abuse he probably received from Stoke / Southampton, even Millwall fans this season was largely from grown ups...28 -

Nathan asks himself, ‘What would Jesus do?’ and concludes that he’d scream at the away fans to fuck off.robroy said:Here is the f k off moment

And breathe.
What a lovely three points. We largely kept Stoke at arms length with the exception of two strong moves from JRS. Their RB Lawal going off was a massive help to us as he'd been getting forward and linked up well with JRS. His massive, massive replacement didn't.
These are the types of games we won last season and we won at the start of this season. Tight, nervy affairs where one moment of quality wins it. Tonight, it was a lovely route one goal from Dykes' head to TC, who deserves goals and is now in amongst them. One goal, clean sheet, easy.
A word for Doc. Look, I pride myself on being a fan of pretty football as well as the uglier side of the game. What Doc does isn't pretty. But he sticks a foot in, reads second balls, and puts himself about. It ain't pretty, but it works. Bell, Jones, Dykes all class. Coady a bit of composure and positioning makes up for his lack of legs for a midfielder. TC was brought on to change the game and he did.
On the subject of TC, one thing he's gotten stick for is not reading the flick ons. He read this one beautifully. Well done young man.
Three points and you start to see the path toward safety open up.
Come on you Reds.25 -
Well quiet. I hate to say it, but us football fans are the biggest bunch of precious babies out there.ForeverAddickted said:Chunes said:What's Nathan been up to...

Deserved victory. Unlike QPR, Stoke's subs made them worse. Lawal looked good until he went off injured, JRS had their best attempts and Thomas stuck in 2 excellent crosses on his left.
Pleased for TC. Unlike his Birmingham goal, he really enjoyed this one
Dykes excellent, exactly what a team like us needs. Now first choice striker.8 -
Great result, poor game to be fair. Just shows what playing players in the right positions can do.2

Brilliant result. Everyone of our players ran their bollocks off tonight to get that result.
Defence was outstanding and great to see Ramsay having a great game again.
I know Docherty will get stick from some but my God, he put some work in tonight. Some great tackles, constantly breaking up their play - he may not be the most gifted player we have but he gives everything.
Dykes makes another goal. Got to be honest thought Campbells first touch was going to eff the chance up.
And very amusing to see Jones give the Stoke fans stick at the end. Or at least until one of their coaching staff who looked about a foot taller than Jones intervened!19 -

Worried we are relying on a fairly small group of players to get us through. Jones clearly doesn't fancy a few onnthe bench and we are at risk of running some of our more injury prone players into the ground. A few go down injured and we are bang in trouble again.5

We're learning how much Jones trusts our bench lol
TC quite a lot, more than most people on here do
