Anyone saying we will easily stay up is having a laugh. Each win is proving to be really hard work.

The January signings are proving to be a huge upgrade. Well done to Jones and the backroom team.

Hoping we see Dykes and Clarke next season (wasting our time dreaming of Chambers signing).

Imagine living with Nathan Jones. I bet he can’t even win a game of Connect 4 without losing his shit.

"We're on the back of a few poor games of Ludo whereas the kids are established Connect 4 players and have been for years and that showed tonight. But hang in there as we're an honest bunch of parlour game players and i expect that to show at snakes n ladders on Saturday".

Still very pleased with what I saw last night, and to be fair the last 3 games.

That spark we lost after a really good start to the season is back and you get the feeling each one of the lads out there last night gives a shit about this club and keeping us up.

Dykes is a good player, works so hard and has that ability to do 1 or 2 really important pieces of link up play a match that lead to really good chances.

Coady has added some genuine class in to our midfield. Yea he's not as mobile as he used to be, but he marshalls the back four brilliantly and shows genuine class on the ball. Also doesn't shut up organising and motivating. Brilliant signing.

Doch is sometimes hilariously bad on the ball, but off it is one of the best I've seen for a long long time. He's a huge part of the reason Coady has been so effective.

The wing backs are a revelation. Who knew you need actual wing backs to play wing back. It helps they're both very good players.

Amari Bell is really really good at football. Our defensive balance is there when he plays. you also feel like he's totally bought in to the Charlton way!

It just feels like the old battling Charlton is back. Long way to go but it's in our hands.

Irrelevant now, but goal should have been disallowed. Dykes was well offside from the goal kick he flicked on to TC.

Noticed numerous times our strikers at goal kicks and free kicks stayed beyond their defensive line with the expectation the defenders will drop back. Didn’t always happen at time of kick.
  • I don't really get the "Jones giving some back is unprofessional" comments. In how many other professions do you have a few thousand people chanting that you're a c*nt? None. So the normal rules of professionalism don't apply.
Not really mate? Players and managers are professional sportsmen, paid a lot of money by people who watch and TV revenue.
They should rise above it,  set the standards and not get involved in all that?
Whilst I appreciate Jones' passion and energy - a smile and a quick wave at their end was all that was needed. Job done, then come and let loose with our fans before going down the tunnel?
The comparison with Appleton is laughable though!

Interesting. I didn't notice any protests from them. Maybe I was just too busy celebrating.

I might be wrong, but I seem to remember you can't be offside from a goalkick.

Wing backs that are actual wing backs have changed this team totally.

Coady quietly going about his work and shoring up that area in front of the defence.

    Proper team again. Lovely
Whilst I know what you mean, it's fair to say he's not quietly going about his business. I sit at the back of the West Upper and I could hear him keeping up a running commentary throughout the game. He's been an absolute revelation in every aspect.
Coady is our modern-day, midfield version of Paul Miller. Not the best, not at all quick, moderate/ok in the air but hugely experienced and totally unfazed by opposition/circumstances. He's a player that can rise above the situation and keep others at it. Not every club has players like that.
  • Haha, having played the game for 30 years I know absolute f*** all about football it seems 🤣🙈
If it helps I didn't know this either. You learn something new everyday.

If the goalkeeper kicks it upfield can you be offside?
  • Hmmm, very reminiscent of one of my girlfriends grandkids. If the lad in the vid wasn't wearing glasses could have sworn it was him.
Blimey ONE of your girlfriends grandkids..........
Are you Wayne Rooney in disguise?

Worried we are relying on a fairly small group of players to get us through. Jones clearly doesn't fancy a few onnthe bench and we are at risk of running some of our more injury prone players into the ground. A few go down injured and we are bang in trouble again.
That's the spirit. All jokes aside its good no weekend game now

Towards the end of a game there was a great block on the edge of our area .I couldnt  see immediately who it was that put the block in. When the melee cleared last man up was Dykes …. He gave 100 percent all game I thought plus the flick for the goal.

TC does it for the second ball all the time, he's not expecting the defensive line to drop back before the free kick is taken but it just means he's harder to pick up.

Guy in front of me screams at him to drop back as if TC doesn't realise he's 20 metres offside, drives me nuts

It's cool. You just wanted to balance out Golfie's glowing and positive post to keep Charltonlife interested in the next episode!

Time for you to admit now, just how many years you've groaned at goal kicks, "Get onside, FFS!"?
