Brilliant result. Everyone of our players ran their bollocks off tonight to get that result.

Defence was outstanding and great to see Ramsay having a great game again.

I know Docherty will get stick from some but my God, he put some work in tonight. Some great tackles, constantly breaking up their play - he may not be the most gifted player we have but he gives everything.

Dykes makes another goal. Got to be honest  thought Campbells first touch was going to eff the chance up.

And very amusing to see Jones give the Stoke fans stick at the end. Or at least until one of their coaching staff who looked about a foot taller than Jones intervened!

    Ryan Shawcross.
Ryan Shawcross snapped Aaron Ramsay's leg in half. Love child of Kevin Muscat and Lurch. Vile man.

Off the pitch he's a really nice guy.
    So is Nathan Jones apparently!

The geezer is marmite but he has passion, and for us.
So he wont be kissing the badge of xxxxxxx in 4 years time when he's manager of a different club ???

Yes, he is passionate for us NOW. Je will be passionate for someone else further down the road

😂 yea maybe he will, doesn’t mean his passion isn’t genuine now. Have a day off

Fantastic result - the boys are fighting for NJ and the shirt...we'll be fine.

Hat tip to Tyreece; showed the necessary composure when it mattered. Take a bow, son.

Take that, you crockery fondling f**kers!
Brilliant. Can I use that when I speak to John Coates?

Are there potterphiles in the Epstein archives?

    Football supporters...

Sing "Nathan Jones; is a w@nker; is a w@nker" all game...

Snd then get upset when he tells the to "f*ck off"...
NJ's reaction was a bit ridiculous though. It was hardly unusual abuse, or anything unacceptable.

Quite bizarre to shout at the away fans, then virtually storm off the pitch, instead of walking slowly around the pitch with the players to celebrate the victory.
I wouldn't say singing that Nathan Jones is a sex offender is acceptable, would you?

When you do your tatics right and play players in their postion, we can then enjoy the win together.

Still I didn't know 15,000 (roughly 14,000 of you are not counting the Stoke fans) could make so much noise.

It was a poor touch but fortunately Stoke’s just turned 21 third choice keeper made his only real mistake of the match by pausing and allowing the opportunity to evolve. Campbell did well from that point.

There was nowhere near 14,000 home fans last night, far less. I reckon about 10k, and that’s being very generous.

Midweek crowds are a real problem, next week will be an outlier given its half term and people had bought tickets for the original game.

This bloke would find a negative in any situation. So boring! He's not capable of not being predictably dull anymore
  • Irrelevant now, but goal should have been disallowed. Dykes was well offside from the goal kick he flicked on to TC.

Noticed numerous times our strikers at goal kicks and free kicks stayed beyond their defensive line with the expectation the defenders will drop back. Didn’t always happen at time of kick.
You can't be offside from a goal kick.

  • Last two games sum us up well in terms of what we aim to do when it's working. Kept it tight, doesn't mean no chances offered but limited them well, then created enough that we should hopefully have a goal in us to win. All very tight margins and sometimes like QPR it won't drop for us, but sets us up very well to keep points ticking over.

What's interesting is how infrequently we come out on the wrong side of the fine margins. Clearly there is some luck in that eg JRS could obviously have scored, but you also make your own luck and there is a lot of credit to be had for the fact we are (a) keeping chances sufficiently limited that only very clinical sides will score against us, and (b) composed enough to see out tight games where we take the lead

Yes, agree, but hardly a single one of his passes went to a red shirt
Maybe he should try to pass to an opponent?

Hmmm, very reminiscent of one of my girlfriends grandkids. If the lad in the vid wasn't wearing glasses could have sworn it was him.
Blimey ONE of your girlfriends grandkids..........

No I think it’s really clever movement from TC, he makes the defender think TC is going outside rather than in

I didn't understand the negative "Free hit" mentality on here before the game solely because we were playing Stoke City,  who are a top half of the table team.
If we wish to stay in the Championship then we need to believe we can win games regardless of who it's against.
If we defend well and take our chances then every game is there for the taking. This applies equally to every other team in this division.

I agree 10K it was eerie quiet 30mins before KO, with hardly anyone on the concourse behind the AC stand, you could tell it was going to be quiet by the trickle going down Floyd Rd before hand. Hugely important 3pts last night, very happy for TC, well taken goal. Now for Pompey imagine it will be around 20K+ and lets hope we get more pts......well done to Nathan and the recruitement team, from the despair of Millwall defeat he's turned it around.

Easy to forget that 4 of the 11 who started weren't here a month ago. To get all of them to gel, look important cogs in the machine and use them to regain the balance we missed is seriously impressive
And I'm sure people said that the January transfer window is poor one to do business in 🤷‍♂️

The January window is a poor window to do business in unless you either pay over the odds OR what Charlton under Phil Chapple and co did and find players that were surplus to requirements at their clubs: Coady, Clarke, Chambers and Dykes.

Nathan Jones was wrong on loans if you can find the correct characters and players who have something to prove.
All 4 players above have started well and have helped CAFC get a shape back with two bona fide wing backs playing on their favoured side.

Wing backs that are actual wing backs have changed this team totally.

Coady quietly going about his work and shoring up that area in front of the defence.

    Proper team again. Lovely
Whilst I know what you mean, it's fair to say he's not quietly going about his business. I sit at the back of the West Upper and I could hear him keeping up a running commentary throughout the game. He's been an absolute revelation in every aspect.
Coady is our modern-day, midfield version of Paul Miller. Not the best, not at all quick, moderate/ok in the air but hugely experienced and totally unfazed by opposition/circumstances. He's a player that can rise above the situation and keep others at it. Not every club has players like that.
Docherty is playing much better with Coady alongside him rather than Coventry.
I've nothing against Coventry but him and Docherty as a partnership simply doesn't work imo.
Our midfield gets completely overrun with that pairing.

Three clean sheets in a row since that Millwall hammering is brilliant to be fair, I think Coady is instrumental as well as Clarke & Chambers fitting in well, is it too early to say that I’d want to keep all of them in our team beyond next season

I think of anything it actually helped him as it confused the keeper for a crucial moment that let Campbell react first to get the goal.

Also, it was from a goal kick so cant be ruled offside.
  • Only one goal in it, yet another very entertaining game with Charlton having four clear chances in the first half and then TC coming off the bench at just the right time to do what he does best - running at tiring defenders and creating chances.

The added bonus was that a tired defender made a mistake and TC finished with aplomb. That mistake was due to trying to deal with another terrific head on by Dykes who is proving to be a real asset, both in leading the line and working his socks off to get back and tackle.

Again, our other recent recruits played well and Chambers also provides very effective corner kicks. Unlike the QPR game, NJ got his subs right both in timing and personnel, and it was left to Stoke to huff and puff till the end. Blimey, three clean sheets. Onwards and upwards.
