Apologies for the delay with this, but here are the results of the little predictions competition I put up for the 2025 season. You'll have to just trust me that I made my predictions before the season started like everyone else! I'll put up another one for 2026 closer to the start of the season.

Forgot about those predictions... WTF was I thinking with Ferrari?1
-
To be fair - they finished 2024 strongly and should have been able to build on that, but they Ferraried it up good and proper. They're about as reliable as Spurs.ForeverAddickted said:Forgot about those predictions... WTF was I thinking with Ferrari?1 -
I'll take that1
-
Yeah I don't really know why I was so hot on Ferrari1
-
Hahahah I really thought Alpine and Ferrari would kick on, silly me0
-
Now we've seen all 11 cars' liveries, who's got the best one?
I like the Williams, the Haas and the Red Bull1 -
I see Newey is trying out some alternative strategies with the aston martin

Watching the testing and honestly via the onboards, and sound at track, these regs feel like dog shit early doors.
They are lifting and coasting all the time, downshifting on straights.
Fuck sake this is meant to be the pinnacle of balls out racing. I want to see drivers ringing the neck of a car on the physical and mental limit.
It is like watching installation laps.0 -
Max already hates the new regs and is threatening to leave.

A lot of fun. I really enjoyed it," Norris said. "So, yeah, if he wants to retire, he can retire. Formula 1 changes all the time. Sometimes it's a bit better to drive, sometimes it's not as good to drive."We get paid a stupid amount of money to drive, so you can't really complain at the end of the day. Any driver can go and find something else to do. It's not like he has to be here, or any driver has to be here."It's a challenge, but it's a good, fun challenge for the engineers, for the drivers. You have to drive it in a different way, understand and manage things differently, but I still get to drive cars and travel the world and have a lot of fun. So, nothing to complain about."4 -
Not just Max that has complained about it, for some balance...

No he's not. He says no such thing in the quotes in that article.MarcusH26 said:Max already hates the new regs and is threatening to leave.

So Mercedes might have to change their engine come August, because of the compression...0
-
All the usual caveats..... it's only testing...... and sandbags will still be on many cars.
But Ferrari look fast. Race runs headlined by an insane race sim from Charles in the heat of the day (44c track temps) and off the line they are a joke with their smaller turbo.
But only testing (trying not to get ahead of myself). How many times have they won the winter championship only to go MIA at the first race.1 -
Wont be surprised if its Mercedes on top, and they're hiding something at the moment, saw a Graphic the other day suggesting that the Merc is a monster out of the corners compared to the Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari.Equally Ferrari look very strong at the starts as you say Damo, even the Haas with the Ferrari engine looked a bit of a monster during those practices1
-
Ferrari on the starts and long runs
Think Mercedes are still sandbagging a bit and will be decent at places like Australia
Red Bull apparently harvests and deploys energy more efficiently than the rest, might also be beneficial in the more energy short races like Australia and other higher speed circuits
Aston Martin and Honda may as well borrow an F2 car for the season1 -
Aston Martin will probably come good by race 120

Aston potentially limited to 15 race laps only due to severe vibrations. Absolutely embarrassing.1
-
Not good vibrations then0
-
No! Not when Adrian Newey starts talking about anymore than that would cause serious nerve damage.Alwaysneil said:Not good vibrations then1 -
I guess ultimately he is right, but i don't think the money they get paid should stop drivers voicing discontent at the new regulations if they feel they're to the detriment of actual racing.MarcusH26 said:

Same as elite level footballers who complain about too many games. Yes they get paid a fortune, but it shouldn't mean they can't express concerns at scheduling and more and more games meaning they play every 3-4 days for 10 months.2 -
Extraordinary news that the Honda issue is that the engine vibrates so much that it is shaking the car apart and cant do more than 25 laps, after that potentially giving the drivers permanent or long term nerve damage. Amazing that vibration hasn't been identified as a potential problem with all the dyno testing and cad design before now.3

Makes me wonder if this is another Newey packaging disaster like he's been prone to in the past , the way Alonso and Stroll have described it is absolutely terrifying.0

Strikes me as someone used to designing in an elite environment who hadn't considered that the things outside of his hands wouldn't be designed to the same standard so now everything is sufferingMarcusH26 said:Makes me wonder if this is another Newey packaging disaster like he's been prone to in the past , the way Alonso and Stroll have described it is absolutely terrifying.0 -
This is probably close to the truth. I think also making him Team Principal is an absolutely bizarre decision that will backfire halfway through the season if the car is still terrible.fenaddick said:

He's also trying to tell everyone they have the 5th best chassis on the grid currently and if it wasn't for the vibrations they'd be Q3 material and development would put them at the front midway through the year.
Yeah but if your engine shakes it so much it breaks, and it's all to do with your overall minimalist design philosophy, you can have a chassis that's 20x more efficient than everyone else and it doesn't matter2
