Well, one England team did well today at least...in fact, it secured the Ashes! Not only that, but did so with a 1-run win. Not only THAT, but Chris Tarrant, a lifelong Charlton fan and club teammate of mine, executed FOUR stumpings in the Australia innings! Great stuff mate!

Chris Tarrant got the Aussies in a Tis(was).

Given how close Nepal pushed England, they have been absolutely abysmal with the bat against Italy today. They are currently 102-8 (17).
Italy thrashed Nepal (who were massive odds on favourites at 1/4 beforehand) by 10 wickets with 44 balls to spare. Both the Mosca brothers hit unbeaten 50s. And they were without the injured Madsen too.

England should thrash Italy but collateral form suggests if we take them lightly then we will come a cropper.

India have just hit the fastest team hundred in WC history - off 6.5 overs

India were 104-1 off 7 overs. Off the next 5 overs they were 21-3.

India finish on 209-9. They were on 104-1 off 6.5 and then scored barely more than that, with 105-8, off the next 13.1 overs.

Chief of those responsible for stemming the flow of runs was Erasmus, with this slow and low slingers, in returning 4-0-20-4. He also took a catch and was involved in effecting a run out too. All he has to do now is hit a big ton and he might get the MOM.

So, did Nepal play out of their skins the other day ?  Or were England that bad ?  Or are Italy worldbeaters ?

Nepal played to their very best when they played England and we didn't. Today, Nepal switched between being timid and reckless and probably expected to beat Italy in the way we expected to beat Nepal i.e. easily.

The thing about Italy is that they are made up of hardened pros and semi-pros. My son has played against both Anthony Mosca (here) and Ben Manenti (in Australia) and like all "Aussies" they are in your face and won't back down from anyone. I would liken our game to a Macclesfield playing against a Palace. In terms of skillset, they might be a long way off England but if we allow our egos to get the better of us or go out as if the game is going to be a pieve of cake then we could be in trouble.

Australia are in a spot of trouble. Zimbabwe made 169-2 and in reply the Aussies are 25-3 with Inglis, Green and David all back in the hutch. In addition, there has to be a doubt as to whether Stoinis can bat as he was hit on the hand when bowling and left the field immediately.

Maxwell needs this innings to find some form. He's 31 off 31 but has had to fight his instincts and has been lucky not to be caught a couple of times. Stoinis is fit to bat but they haven't got that much after that especially if they need to get more than 12 an over at that time.

It's a gift. Maxwell, with a massive hoick, plays on next ball.

    114-5

55 off 29 balls required. Renshaw is the key. He's quietly gone about his business, with 50* off 33 and without showing any real aggression.

What a sensational catch to get Dwarshuis. Zimbabwe's fielding has been superb

The fact that Zimbabwe were put in and only lost two wickets in getting 169 is a recognition of Australia missing Messrs Cummins, Haslewood and Starc but also that too many of the Aussies are out of touch with the bat too.

Our fast bowlers have been poor for some time now in this and the one day format and don't get me started on Overton

For some reason we've named an unchanged XI for tomorrow's game against Scotland

Following Shadley van Schalkwyk's return of 4-25 for the USA against India, he recorded exactly the same figures today against Pakistan for remarkable overall tournament figures of 8-0-50-8

Poor from van Schalkwyk today, in the USA's massive win against the Netherlands by 93 runs - just 3-21 to give him overall figures of 10.5-0-71-11. Not many would have backed him to be the leading wicket taker at the start of the tournament?
