That seems to be the received wisdom. If he was “rejected “ because they didn’t think him worth a punt then I’d expect our coaches to pick up on that as well. Unless he has other irons in the fire I’d expect him to sign today or tomorrow latest. Will be hardly worth the effort for all parties if this drags out much longer. If we want him we need him asap.
Yeah thats how it was explained earlier in this thread. Hes been here less than a week and was due to play in the U21 game that was cancelled, not sure why people are getting so antsy about the whole thing. For all we know he could be announce tomorrow if/when hes on the bench.3 -
Quotes from the source and the links to back it up, something FLW are allergic too. If he hadn’t picked up that injury at that moment, sounds as if he’d be a LCFC player now:
"He has looked good and has been a good lad to have around as well," Cifuentes told BBC East Midlands Today.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/b007tj48/east-midlands-today
Then In January Cifuentes said, "Michail got a setback in training. It's a small injury. It's a pity. That probably means that we will not be able to continue the process we started," Cifuentes told BBC Radio Leicester.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0ms8qmb
"The window is open. We're going to try to see what other options are available."

While he was at Leicester, he saw them play against us and decided he didn't fancy it. Fact.1

Has it been confirmed he was the u21 trialist?shine166 said:ShootersHillGuru said:My understanding was that he was training with Leicester and being considered for a short term deal by Leicester but got injured and they then backed off. Someone somewhere (the other sight) said he wasn’t the trialist. Unlikely to know now but U21s are scheduled to play tomorrow evening1

Cheers for clarification lads.
Be interested to know what the injury was. Can only think it was minor after not playing for so long and generally just getting fitter, bound to get have some soreness etc.0 -
Of course we’ll never know what it was but if it was that minor and Leicester were keen on getting him in then you’d think they might have waited a bit before pulling the plug. Did they sign someone else or just let the opportunity slide ? If he’s now fit enough for us I wonder why Leicester didn’t get back on board with him.king addick said:Cheers for clarification lads.

He's mid thirties. Had a near life ending injury.ShootersHillGuru said:

The cards are highly stacked for if he isn't injured today he more than likely will be tomorrow.
It's a big gamble. As long as it doesn't cost us a fortune I think it's one worth taking.3 -

I totally agree by the way but Leicester knew all that before inviting him for a trial and until that minor injury it looked like they were keen to do something.carly burn said:

Didn't Leicester then sign Mukasa? So clearly he had a setback and they moved on to a different target1

Mail reporting a form of pay-as-you-play deal likely: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-15557469/Michail-Antonio-training-Championship-club-talks-pay-you-play-deal-14-months-escaping-horror-car-crash.html
Seeing that picture of the car again...it's a wonder he is still alive let alone looking to play again!3 -
I don't see an issue with it given that we've got 5 players to play in those striker roles already. There's a space in the squad and it's not like we're signing him instead of someone else. If he's only being paid when he plays then he's just a different option to have in case we need to change a game. I'll be fine if it happens and fine if it doesn't1
-
I don’t think our season will define on him so I think it’s a win-win if he signs & does well and if not then nevermind6
-
Pretty much feel the same as others, if he comes in and does well that’s great, if nothing happens no skin off our noses.Just don’t want these lua lua/ Rousillon situations to keep happening, they seem a waste of time.1

LargeAddick said:All this talk of concrete, I live near Battle and there is an aggregate supplier called William The Concreter. Fact.
Reckon the talks were about sorting the pot holes in the car park - if Rio Ferdinand can now be seen in better gyms in sidcup, there's no end to how much money can slip through prem players fingers - those with penchants for diamond encrusted x box's, rip off nightclubs and 'get rich' rip off investment schemes.0 -

If we were down to our last striker and losing games, then yes we might be desperate, but we've taken 7 points from the last 9, and have plenty of attacking options. So much so that Kelman our record signing didn't even come off the bench against Stoke. Plus Miles will be back shortly.
Even if we signed Antonio, I can't see him getting many minutes soon.3 -
We need him in asap because as each game passes without him being up to speed and available then the whole point of him coming in at all is reduced with each passing game. At what point it becomes pointless I’m not sure but if we want him then get it done for maximum benefit.killerandflash said:

All our free signings before have trained with us first which negates some of the need to sign him up quicklyShootersHillGuru said:

I’m not sure he’s being signed with a view to “we need him asap this season”. I think it’s more to have a look at him and maybe we will sign him again next season if he proves he can get fit and still play to a decent levelShootersHillGuru said:
