Genuinely thought he found it from that Swansea to Blackburn game. But today just another example if he doesn’t get chances he’s absolutely useless, Dykes TC and Leaburn for their lack of output still put themselves around and compete Kelman just hasn’t got that fight or battle in him. 3M down the drain from what it looks like2

Was surprised he wasn't running about a bit more to pressure Saints in added time6
-
His lack of intensity doesn't do him any favours, always looks like he is half asleep.3
-
That counter where TC/Miles/Carey would have driven forward but he checked back was criminal, gave away a chance to put the defence under pressure and get a goal/free kick/corner6
-
Grim that our big money signing is effectively 5th choice striker now, but he didn't do himself any favours today.3
-
Can see a loan away to league one in the summer and probably offload him at Christmas...
Feel for him. But that type of striker in a Nathan Jones side in the Championship was always going to be a stretch.0 -
Poor today. He didn't work hard enough physically and he seems to jump out of his duels, which makes life so easy for the defender. Just put your body across them and take the contact, win a foul or compete at least.4
-
Not having him at all.1
-
He's so passive, was good to see him back defending at one point just to see him doing something, having a forward that spends most of the game strolling around waiting for the perfect pass isn't really going to work for us.1
-
Like Godden there’s no doubt he can score goals, but it’s frustrating how little he offers outside the box. I’m not sure we create enough with him on the pitch to justify starting him, the other strikers help us create more.
TC showed why he started over him, his pace and dribbling is always an outlet even if the end product is poor. Definitely a good decision in a game like today.
Dykes and Leaburn win headers and fouls, link up the play better, and physically give the CBs a game. Kelman’s had the occasional moment when he shows a bit of pace or strength, but it’s all too rare.
Games like Oxford and Sheff Wed are the ones I’d potentially start him, where we can get away with starting a poacher who offers little outside the box more, and he’s more likely to get a few chances.8 -

All I can say is if TC gave that little effort he would be rightly slated
Theres obviously a player there somewhere based on what he did last season but jeez the laziness is another level
It’s really no wonder NJ doesn’t pick him, or in fact signed him, that last 10 minutes was torture and he was strolling around like it was a friendly

He looks like the lost boy I was talking about back in August / September. Thought he might have kicked on after a couple of performances over the Christmas period but it hasn’t happened.
Not sure why we signed him.3 -
Really disappointed in him TBH. Need to start seeing a lot more or can see him being sent back to L1 next season if we stay up.0

Disappointed with him today. I really liked his interview after he scored v Oxford, I thought that was a great sign of his character. Worked hard, got back in the side, expected him to kick on.Unfortunately it just hasn’t happened which has meant decreased game time, and he’s not showing much in the cameos he is now getting. It can be hard for out of favour strikers to impress without scoring, but failing to work hard in limited minutes is poor. Thought Leaburn was brilliant in his outing today.I’ll forgive him checking back on the counter today if it was to try and waste time. My fear is it’s because he just doesn’t back himself and is not quick enough to pull away. He definitely doesn’t anticipate the game well enough at the moment, stark when compared to a Godden. He’s never quite in the right place, always a bit flat footed. Still holding out hope he will come good, but perhaps that is heart over head.1

I blame Jones, he needs to play to Kelman's strengths after shelling out a fortune(in our terms).ProperCharlton said:Really disappointed in him TBH. Need to start seeing a lot more or can see him being sent back to L1 next season if we stay up.
Otherwise he should have kept Alfie.2 -
Have you seen Alfie May's record this season? Or how we did without him last season?ElfsborgAddick said:

I've no idea what he was thinking with that late breakaway. He could have driven towards goal and had a shot, he could have headed to the corner, but no he instead just stopped running, and it all fizzled out, with Soton soon getting the ball back to mount another attack.elbiglad said:Disappointed with him today. It was the action of someone totally devoid of confidence, but also someone who's all round game doesn't suit our style of play.2 -

he would look better with better players around him as there would be less reliance to do the hard work and he would get more chances. But not sure we can afford to wait and hope he comes good, doubt we’re going to suddenly be turned into a free flowing top end team in the near future

Think people are being harsh on him today. Came on and helped us secure a point. We were already digging in and sitting deep.

Helped us secure a point? He made us look worse when he came on, Butchered 2x counter attacks with a dreadful pass to Carey and turned back 1v1 w a defender for a run at goal, no pressing and the one time he did track back he had a great opportunity to win the ball off edozie on the wing after a heavy touch and just didn’t attempt to make a tackleWeegie Addick said:Think people are being harsh on him today. We don’t play to his strengths.8

This has all the alarm bells of scapegoating TC for a poor sub appearance v QPR. Do we always have to dig one of them out, even when we get a decent point?5

Yes of course we doWeegie Addick said:This has all the alarm bells of scapegoating TC for a poor sub appearance v QPR. Do we always have to dig one of them out, even when we get a decent point?0 -
We're Charlton, its what we do0

Was definitely a disappointing moment, at the very least run towards the corner flag to avoid Southampton getting the ball back towards our box sooner. Trouble is we just know that, that sort of attitude / commitment / whatever... Isn't going to put him back into the starting elevekillerandflash said:

The check back when he was 1v1 against a tiring defender was criminal, knock it past him and back yourself in a foot race - he’d have won something if only a throw in and relieved the pressure.Doesn’t seem to have much confidence - understandably given that when he has done well he’s been dropped again
theres definitely a player in there12 -
I think we’ll see most players we signed last summer move on if we stay up.ProperCharlton said:Really disappointed in him TBH. Need to start seeing a lot more or can see him being sent back to L1 next season if we stay up.
Wouldn’t be suprised to see the likes of Kelman, Knibbs, Olaofe & Apter all move on.
In light of so many players struggling to step up from L1, we’ll definitely look for players with significant championship experience (Bell, Coady, Clarke, Dykes types etc) or foreign based players going forward.
The strategy of buying the best from L1 hasn’t worked (massive difference in quality between the two leagues).1
