Or even the team we saw for flashes at home to QPR and Stoke._MrDick said:Rhetorical question .. what’s happened to the team that beat Ipswich and played so well earlier in the season. Can’t blame injuries, we’re back to full strength. Baffling 😕2 -
Well that was poor, very poor. But I can accept that this season as the priority is staying in this division. But boy it better get better next season.
Was impressed by Sichenje. The only bright spark in a bad performance.11 -
If they can't beat us when we play like that, who are they going to beat? We have the capability to put in the odd decent performance which hopefully will be enough but when we are bad we are very, very bad. My brother was ranting on how bad we was over the phone and I was ranting back that he was telling me the bleedingly obvious and then we scored!!!!!8
-
After Oxford, West Brom have got Sheff u away, Southampton and Hull at home and Bristol City away. Not easy.4

Great performance from Collins, who has hit the ground running!Thought Ramsey was poor today (as he has been for weeks now) and Clarke & Bell both had uncharacteristically bad performances too. Doc doesn’t add to much but solid, where as Carey really struggled to get going and seemed selfishly adamant to not pass to others on the break/easy ball…
dykes and Leaburn don’t do so well together, but hard to see who you bring in as both kelman and TC have been so ineffective with either ML or LD.
no idea what JRC has to do to get onto the pitch, and I have no idea what berry would even bring should he be subbed on! Need Fullah and/or Dixon on the bench as real attacking threats.A point gained, but we just don’t look like dusting ourselves off and really dragging ourselves away from the scrap5 -
A huge thank you to Lyndon Dykes for genuinely the only bit of quality football played by us the whole night.
He really got Jones out of Jail with that.
I staunchly remain in the camp that Jones hasn't a scooby on how to set up a side to attack. And I don't just mean final third action. I'm talking any sort of progressive football. The amount of times Bell for example picks the ball up and looks forward to a sea of nothing and routinely performs one of his about turns is a consistent pattern.
When we do manage to muster some form of attacking passage of play and it inevitably breaks down, the opposition consistently manage to turn it into their own attack and without fail the ball ends up back down our throats.
It's one of the reasons we never attack. He hasn't a clue on how to attack whilst keeping some form.of defensive shape.
We keep hearing these poor displays won't happen again. But yet again they continue. If we do manage to clamber our way to safety then serious questions have to be asked as to whether Jones is the man to progress us to the next level? I know I'll get lols for that but these performances are so anti football.
Im so grateful for what he achieved. I genuinely am, but I think success at this level even with bigger budgets and better players is beyond him.24 -
Plus point the Kenyan wall was fucking impressive11
-
I thought he was awful. Couldn't place a pass, miscontrolled and lost the ball multiple times and was caught out of position leading that dangerous counter. Very clearly a league one player being asked to make a sudden step up.YannTheMann said:Eh confused as to a lot of comments digging out Fevrier, thought he looked positive and helped us move it forward largely but game of opinions I suppose

Weird game in that, once we’d equalised, it became a game where, despite playing extraordinarily badly, we had a chance to win. With 10 minutes to go I was thinking we might nick this!
Despite that, it was an absolutely abominable performance against a team that are genuinely awful. We were so bad that WBA looked the better side, which is, frankly, incredible regardless of who they’re playing.
The complete lack of ability to keep hold of the ball or wrest it from the oppo was frustrating beyond belief.
The fact that we went so negative going into the game is a worry. I know we’re picking up draws and occasional wins doing this, and I suppose not losing was the priority, but it’d be nice to see us do something positive and not look quite so dreadful.
A few points about some of our players tonight:
Collins makes me a bit nervous, but he did ok, got some more minutes and will become a steady player in time imo.
Bell didn’t hit his usual levels. Kept getting closed down and looked less comfortable wriggling out of trouble than usual. Lost the ball or gave it away more than usual.
Carey’s decision making is inexplicable sometimes. Twice ran straight into a brick wall of two defenders when much easier options were available.
Coady didn’t seem to have the authority and vision in the middle that he’s had in recent games. Was somewhat statuesque.
Doc ran around tirelessly as did Dykes. Can’t fault their effort and a cracking run, control and finish from Dykes.
Chambers and Clarke were pretty much invisible first half. Clarke improved later.
Miles tried hard, but playing him and Dykes together just doesn’t help us. We become predictable and look devoid of ideas.
A word about the ref:
I won’t for one moment blame that Charlton performance on him. A team should play the best they can regardless of the man in the middle.
Having said that, by Christ he was bad. Some unbelievable bad calls for corners/goalkicks (for both sides) that were so clear as to be almost impossible to get them wrong.
His inconsistency with what constitutes a foul was mind boggling. This may be my Charlton specs, but how he was calling some fouls on them while playing on when we were fouled was just ridiculous.
Just awful. I thought we were supposed to be leaving these shitty refs behind when we got promoted?9 -
Shit. Pathetic performance, only rescued by Dykes’ superb finish. Every single one of the rest of them can get in the bin, particularly our forwards and midfielders. Don’t want to see Coady again this season unless it’s in a back three. Offers nothing in midfield, we might as well be playing with 10 men. Docherty is ‘great off the ball’ so it doesn’t matter how piss poor he is on it, and Carey, despite having a knack for goal is extremely slow with the ball at his feet. Clarke was poor tonight, Chambers invisible.Jones may be in the opposition’s head but he’s certainly off his head starting Dykes and Leaburn up top (again) after the embarrassment that was Pompey last week. Let’s just stick the Undertaker and Kane up there if we’re going for height. TC was crap when he came on and continues to show he’s not an option long term if we stay in this division.Utter dross from start to finish aside from Dykes’ goal out of nowhere. We got so lucky tonight. We didn’t want to attack at all until we went a goal down. When we had to we had no idea how to break them down, and we were playing one of the worst teams in the division tonight. I dread to think what kind of bleak communist iron curtain gruel Jones is going to serve up for the remaining 12 games. It will be the culinary equivalent of rotten turnip goulash. An acrid taste that provides the body with little nutrients, but just enough to keep you alive, hungry and with a sore stomach, living to fight another day.I just pray we have enough to get over the line, ship a good few players on, and have a much better summer of recruitment. If we stay up and Jones’ is still playing similar football at the start of next season, we’ll be a great candidate for relegation10

I know it's all about staying up, but we are awful to watch3

I think even a couple of bottom of the table league one teams would be embarrassed of that match. Absolutely dire game. Two really poor teams, both woefully short of confidence. Not really looking forward to Wrexham to be honest0
-
Cant believe what Im reading Weve lost 1 game in 6 in a dog fight with smallest budget in the division during a season following being promoted from in the play offs one season after nearly being relegated to League Two, the entitlement of some of our fans is beyond daft

Spot on. Maybe Cawley or Louis could ask him what his attacking philosophy is. He should consider bringing in an attacking coach in the summer, if not sooner.carly burn said:A huge thank you to Lyndon Dykes for genuinely the only bit of quality football played by us the whole night.

Let’s be honest about this, that was a tough watch. Seen some great high quality, high tempo games in the Championship recently. None involving us, and that most certainly wasn’t one of them!
I don’t want to be negative as it’s largely about results and we averted a bad one tonight, and the squad are genuinely an honest bunch of triers.
But we are absolutely horrendous when in possession.Delighted with the point. Put it in the drawer and forget about it21 -
take a point and our crown as the dullest footballing team in the world will be untouched for a good while yet
77% safe
23% league one hell1 -
Frittering away the easier games with one bad performance after another. Last time we played well was v Leicester away (and helped by them being down to 10 men). Stoke at home was just as shit but we won so everyone ignored the performance.
A point closer to safety but I really don't know where our wins are coming from and with Wrexham, Birmingham and Middlesbrough up next we need to find a miracle win against one of them to keep ourselves out of the bottom 3 before the end of March imo.
I hear Jones teams improve as the season progresses, well this one is doing the opposite and the tactics seem to just be to play a more extreme long ball game as each week goes by.7 -
I was at Bristol City at the start of the season & the performance between that match & tonight's was like chalk & cheese.msomerton said:
why will it improve, we have played that poorly for most of the season. The Red Robin said:Poor. Hope it improves.
That day we attacked with purpose & actually looked like scoring. Funny that that team had Apter & Oalafe in it.
Since Edwards' injury and our general injury issues (which have now mainly all cleared up) we have gone backwards dramatically. No idea why NJ sets the team up to play hoofball when the strikers tonight are better with the ball on the floor and we have wingbacks who can actually cross the ball.13 -

For me the Coady in midfield experiment needs to end (especially in home games we need to win). It’s not amazing, but Coventry and Doc coincided with our best football of the season. I would go back to that…… Kelman and Dykes / Leaburn up front. And if Jones is out I would put Ramsay RWB, and have Collins, Coady and Bell in the middle8
-
We were absolute dogshit but how deflated must WBA be in not beating us? If they couldn’t overcome us tonight how on earth are they going to pick up many more points this season?hoof_it_up_to_benty said:Wow that was awful - can't string any passes together. Terrible to watch.
We are undoubtedly the worst team I've seen in the Championship this season... Surely we can play better than this?9 -
I don't even necessarily think it's rawness. It's a massive ask to come in as a centre back in a league where football is played at this speed and intensity, when you've joined mid season. I'm sure the commentator said he hadn't played for some time prior to joining us as welll?MuttleyCAFC said:I think Sichenje was bought because he has excellent attributes we can develop. I doubt we wanted to rely on him so soon, but whilst a bit raw, he has done very well and could be a great buy for us I think.1 -
Not sure I’ve seen it mentioned, could someone let us know where our budget ranks in the division and correlate it to how good or bad we are doing?4
-
I’m certainly happy with a point after that 90 minutes. As a game of football it was a tough one to watch. I know we are not really capable of of competing with a number of teams in this league but tonight was one I think we could have targeted. Instead we chose to lump the ball. I don’t mind a long ball if there is and end product or at least threat of one.Ramsey played a nice ball through and we scored, that was the total highlights for us. If we keep playing like this we will be coming up short at the end of this season.1
-
Agree with what you say about the ref. Also there was a 30 second delay in added time, I'll give him that, but he played well beyond that. I wonder what goes on in their heads. Some of his calls against both sides were worth a chuckle. There was a double foul on Doc he let go twice and all you could do was laugh. I used to say that we can't complain about league one refs as we shouldn't be in league one but seriously I think refs at this level are just as bad.lordromford said:Weird game in that, once we’d equalised, it became a game where, despite playing extraordinarily badly, we had a chance to win. Someone has just given Coventry 4 in Player Marks but Carey and Coady 5. I'd say I'm off to have a lie down but I'm already lying down. Maybe I'll just die18
-
So we get the same result away against Southampton - who blew QPR away tonight - as we do versus WBA. It's all crazy.
Thought Fev did well to get out of the way for our goal.6 -
I decided not to mark as it will do my head in.0

The referee made several weird decisions early on. The worst being the yellow card for Jones. It was a very classy challenge and prem quality tackle.4
