I think that like Bree, Jones and Leaburn, he has been playing through injury.

I think if we were confident on tying Ramsay down we wouldn’t have spent what we have on Sichenje. Understand the purpose of quality in squad depth, but if you ask the majority of fans u get just under 2M you can either get cover for Ramsay or replace one of the midfielders it’s a simple answer. Hope I’m wrong but it felt like a contingency signing
I wholeheartedly agree with you, I would've preferred the Sichenje money was spent improving us elsewhere. But I don't know if £2m gets you a midfielder that improves us, especially in January. Personally I don't know if we can read too much into the Sichenje signing and how it relates to Ramsay, I think the club just saw it as a good opportunity. But you may be right.

If Ramsay doesn't sign a new contract then perhaps the club decides to cash in. It would be a real shame to lose him, he feels like a player that could grow with the club over the next few years and I hope we can convince him to sign on. He appears to have finally found a home after a stuttering start to his career, but unfortunately most players nowadays value the financial benefits over this.

Think NJ saying the Sichenje signing was brought forward from the summer plans has strengthened the idea that Ramsay might move on. I'm hoping it's more likely that we're expecting Burke to drop down to L1 though

Would be gutted to see Kayne leave. He's got a high ceiling.
Does he live in a Victorian house?

Doesn't Burke have another year though?

He does but a L1 side might take a punt on him. We wouldn't get a fee but it's just the kind of signing we used to make in L1

Burke still has a role. Everyone seems to have forgotten Coady isn't our player. He's only on loan.

Burke is back up to Jones (when fit!)

This is the issue, he hasn't been available enough to use up a squad space and his performances haven't shined either

Thought Ramsey was back to his best vs Stoke

Was good to see him closer to peak Ramsey, and actually playing with a smile once again. Must help having competent/dependable players at RWB and LWB now

he clearly thought he was as he only produces a highlight reel when he has a good game - ha

it's almost like he's sticking himself in the shop window
  • Good game yesterday and well done for his first assist of the season. A great spot and ball.

Against Portsmouth and West Brom he's taken matters into his own hands as the game has gone on and shown some real quality on the ball. It would be great to see him work himself into those spaces more often, with Clarke as his RWB he's got enough defensive support there that when teams try and press our wingbacks quickly to avoid us getting it wide there will be space for him to step into that halfback area and play a pass through or over the top. We can be setting those sorts of traps for teams given that it looks like difficulty getting it wide is going to be a theme for the rest of the season. He's got excellent technical ability when it comes to his passing and can play long and short so it's a weapon we could use more.

Been a really weird player this season either been exceptional or poor doesn’t seem like there’s an in between for him. Hope he does sign a new contract one of the few players who we can comfortably say has the ability to play at this level
  • Thought he was excellent in the second-half last night. More like the player we saw last season

I accept that our risk appetite is low at the moment so I'm sure he is under instruction to stay put, but I do miss him stepping out out of defence with the ball. It added a different dimension to our build up that was hard for opponents to account for - you only need a forward to lose concentration and forget to track a man and we have a potential overload. He is not the most refined attacking player but he's a real danger when he gets running downhill and has the ability to commit people.

I thought he played well again last night in tricky circumstances. It's easy to overlook that we had our defensive leader go off to be replaced by an inexperienced prospect and a formation change within the game.

Thought he'd struggle in a back 4 to be honest but held his own. Wouldn't like to see it against a good team in this division though

Last night was a reminder he’s probably got a better eye for a killer pass than any of our midfielders.

We saw it in L1 but it’s been too rare this season through the lack of possession we have as a team.

Kayne Ramsay is well in credit since he joined from Harrogate and was MOM last night for CAFC with a low bar BUT unfortunately his two games against Millwall are the matches that keep appearing in my mind even if Kayne left them off his showreel.

    Q. Why has Ramsay wore a bandage for the last 18 months on his hand and wrist ?

100% he is terrible in the air

Have watched him closely at set pieces this season and all he ever does is hold and wrestle with the opposition
he doesnt even watch the ball coming in or even know where it is
its crazy to watch and surely someone should have had a word by now

I mean Kaminski is more of a problem when it comes to being good in the air but he’s never been dropped. Last night was an absolute disgrace for the goal!

Yeah. Mannion either catches or palms that corner away. He even dived backwards into the net.

I presume he doesn’t like heading the ball.

Did the pre match press conference this week, not much of note in the club bit but Cawley’s piece with extra quotes well worth reading
