A few days ago we were driving through the country roads towards Gatwick at 3am, and I had to slow down for what looked like a "weird fox." Then it turned its head and we saw that it was a massive, ginger-haired badger. I have never seen so much as a hedgehog in this country, and I'm still buzzing about it now.6

Getting nearly £1,600 back from Reigate and Banstead Council after living in a 1.5-bed cottage from 2022 to 2024 and being charged council tax for a 3-bed.
Urge everyone to check their banding. I challenged ours just after moving in in 2022 and got a random call this afternoon checking it's the same bank account so they can put dough over.

Well, yeah - if you’re in a three-bed and paying what you would for a one- or two-bed, you’re obviously getting away with it. Having said that, they backdated our credit, so they may do the same if you’re not paying enough and building up a balance owed to them. It may be best to nip it in the bud before it gets out of hand.ME14addick said:

Having the dressing taken off my wound this morning... My skin didn't reacted well to the dressing, and the most pain I've been in, has been from the rash created by the dressing, rather than the wound itself... But taking off that dressing felt pure bliss and whilst I'm a couple of weeks from "normality" - It already feels so liberating9

Became a Beaver Scout Leader about a year ago... Have been helping out with Scouts since my Son started in Squirrels from when he was 4-years old, but made it official last year.
Was never sure if Id do a good job, whether Id have the patience with other people's kids. Or even run sessions to keep them engaged enough.
My Son is moving up to Cubs after Easter as he's now 8, along with a couple of others (I will be staying with my Group, as need to teach my Son some independence doing these things) ... Ive got a couple of favourite kids that attend as well, because they're so well behaved and well manneres...
One of those is also moving to Cubs, and she's walked straight up to me tonight, saying she's sad to be leaving Beavers, doesn't want to move up, because me and one of the other adults are her favourite leaders.
Whilst there is me thinking: "You and me both"
But was nice to have her show some appreciation for what we do.11 -
We are going to Northumberland for our summer holiday and I have been trying to sort out train tickets. London to Morpeth return £147 for the two of us - not bad I thought, I'll sort that later. Then I was trying various combinations of tickets, as we are not sure whether we need to hire a car for the whole duration, or if we would be better picking one up from Newcastle airport and just hiring it for five days or something.
The long and the short of it is that I realised that, despite telling me how the £147 saved me money by using "Split Save", it would cost me £33 less if I booked London to Newcastle and then Newcastle to Morpeth seperately.

One small warning/tip. They often book you differnet seats on the same train for a split ticket journey. Which is annoying on a long distance train. So check in advance. For whatever reason the tickets I have ended up booking are not split-save, so it's not an issue in this case Canters. But I appreciate the tip and will look out for that in the future.cantersaddick said:

I was a MOT tester for both car vans then later HGV. The test is pretty basic. A vehicle should only fail “if it needs repair or adjustment AT TIME OF TEST “ Find a decent independent garage and use them. It can have some shiny new oil next week.That's exactly what I did. My garage is excellent and very helpful. It initially failed on emissions so they sent me away to thrash the nads off it for an hour before retesting. Sticker says emissions limit is .51, it sneaked through on retest with .49. But if the tester cant find the manufacturer's sticker, he will test to a default limit of 3.0. Lesson is to peel off the sticker before it's submitted for testing.0 -
I went to the supermarket today and my trolley had wheels that clicked as I wheeled it along. This annoyed me at first, until I realised that if I pushed it steadily at just the right speed it played the drum rhythm from the intro of Antmusic. This pleased me far more than it should.9

A young lad was fast asleep on the train as we arrived at Charing Cross, I was last out of the carriage and thought I should wake him as the train would be the service to Dover Priory, fast from London Bridge to Sevenoaks.
Both feet on the opposite seat, wrapped up in his hoody. I resisted the thought to wake him.2 -
