This is exactly why I said they were out of the battle even though they were below us a few weeks ago

Caught the last 5 plus add ons of the Portsmouth game. They had the same ref as we had at the Hawthorns in midweek.

He was desperate to give Portsmouth as many opportunities to put the ball in the Hull box as possible.

Great start to the day that. Now I'm hoping for a draw between West Brom and Oxford. Mathematically it might be better for Oxford to win but I still remember Oxford winning 5 games in 6 in January last year when they were dead and buried after winning 1 game in 17 and then following that up to win 4 of their last 9 to finish 17th. No-one is ever out of it until it's official and I think the best thing from today would be two teams going in to a big opportunity to get 3 points and neither getting what they want. No big moment of hope for West Brom that a new manager could save them, no light for Oxford, just a boring failure to win and more anxiety for the players.

  • Norwich won't be far off the play offs if they keep this form going.
Couldn't believe how close Southampton are now when I glanced at the table yesterday

3 excellent second halves, with the relegation rivals collectively losing them 6-0.

Having all 3 games go that way makes the Oxford West Brom game even more important now.

I think people need to realise we are almost certainly safe already, honestly.

If Blackburn won today they'd be level on points with us, having had won 4 out of their last 5 games, a monumental run that would put them 2nd in the form table behind Southampton, who have won 4 of their last 5 and drawn the other (I wonder who to?!)

You'd then also need at least 2 from Leicester, West Brom, Portsmouth and Oxford to also do the same, the latter making up a full 12 points on us, plus a 7 goal swing on goal difference.

3 of those 4 teams haven't won a game in the last 5

We would have to lose all games from here on in, and it still probably won't be enough for all of them to leapfrog us
If we lose all our games from here on in we will be relegated, mark my words.
Yeah well done clever clogs, read my post again.

I said we are almost certainly safe

If we lost every game, it probably won't be enough for all of them to leapfrog us

If we did actually lose all our remaining games we fully deserve to go down.

My point is even then, based on the way they're playing and the fact some of them play eachother, we probably won't be overtaken by all of them

It doesn't matter anyway because we're not going down and will finish at least 6 points above the drop

Perfect. Them results make today risk free for me. Apart from Oxford v West Brom we have nothing to worry about. Go out there and give it a go.

I know one game doesn’t tell the whole story, but holy moly, Hull were absolutely awful today. They certainly didn’t look like a team chasing promotion.
I can only assume that performance was out of character because the commentator was saying they’ve been one of the most entertaining teams this season. That was so bad they looked like they were the ones fighting relegation.

Thank god we’ve been so so reliable over the years of not not turning up! 😅

Still think Pompey are staying up relatively comfortably. They are crying out for a striker in the summer though

    Hull to beat Portsmouth.  ✅
    Norwich to beat Leicester. ✅
    Derby to beat Blackburn. ✅
Oxford to beat West Brom. ✅

Probably the best case scenarios for us

Keeps the gap at 7, frustrating to not somehow get anything from the game, but less opportunities for other teams around us to turn around the deficit I’ll take it

Seven point gap with 11 games left. Show me someone who wouldn’t bite your hand off for that.
