Saw the Killerz on Saturday...not a bad cover band.0

Will probably got to Hammersmith and see if anyone has a spare for David Byrne if can't get one at face value plus fees.3

I posted back in March last year that we had a gig cancelled, as a young lad in the band (The Lilacs) had been diagnosed with testicular cancer.
The re-arranged gig was last night at The Garage, with the news that he had been given the all clear in January.
A great night, The Lilacs and crowd were on form, and a positive atmosphere about the place
Decent support from a band called Superdays, didn't know them but looks like they are from the South London / Kent area4 -
I saw Besnard Lakes, a Canadian band, at the Moth Club in Hackney. They were an enjoyable act to see - decent music, played with enthusiasm and, importantly, looking as though they enjoyed playing.

Nigel Kennedy at Ronnie Scott's, seen him a few times now and never fails to amaze with the sounds he can get from his violin1

I only became aware of Blonde Redhead a couple of years ago and was wowed by their London gig just over a year ago. Last night, they played at the Barbican, backed by a full choir. An outstanding set and arguably the best sound quality I have ever heard. Memorable night.

I got a circle standing ticket from Viagogo in the end for £129 (face value £80). Not ideal outcome and I hate that site but the only way I was getting in.BrentfordAddick said:Will probably got to Hammersmith and see if anyone has a spare for David Byrne if can't get one at face value plus fees.Ticket already transferred to me in ticketmaster app so legit.2 -

£129 to watch Morrissey!? Must be for the amazing show he’ll put on - light show, lazers , pyros.1

The light show? Like Jean Michel Jarre?0

Paper Kites at the Roundhouse earlier in the week. It was seriously dull and a great reminder that you don't need unlimited talent to play decent sized venues.0

There were standing tickets still available this morning on the official site: £100 plus fees, or resales at £51 all-in. That was a bit of a no-brainer!0 -
After Morrissey my next outing is Suzi Quatro. Can't believe this glam rocker has never seen her live.0

I've been slacking on the gig front this year, but I ended up seeing the Buzzcocks in Hamburg last weekend - I suddenly had a free night on a weekend away, asked around about where to go, and there were still tickets on the door of Grünspan, a great venue off the Reeperbahn, so I joined some mates there.
They were great - old punk isn't really my thing and the only original member left is Steve Diggle, the bass player who's now the singer, but it was a lot of fun. €45 to see Ever Fallen In Love belted out live was worth every cent.0 -
He’s presumably too tight for a warm up act and the dross videos played instead were so bad it was nearly unbelievable.charlton4ever said:

Our theory was he wanted the videos to be so goddamn awful (succeeded) that anything he sung could only be better.
If that was the plan it worked.
A better gig than the last few times we’ve seen him, but that will surely be the last time we see him. 6/10.
Edit - on reflection I think I was harsh and I've upgraded him to 7.5.1 -
Saw Osibisa at the Fox and Firkin in Lewisham. Decent venue - haven't been there since the 90s.
The band were really tight and it was a bit of an escape for a couple of hours. I bought an LP of theirs in the early 70s and it's taken me 50 odd years to see them.

I looked at tickets for that when they were announced, listened to a few tracks decided wasnt keen and gave it a swerve. Sounds like that worked out OK for me. Sorry they were shit thoPopIcon said:Paper Kites at the Roundhouse earlier in the week. It was seriously dull and a great reminder that you don't need unlimited talent to play decent sized venues.

Saw David Byrne at Hammersmith Apollo on Wednesday. I have been to 100s of gigs in my life and thus was top 3.- incredible stage craft. All of the musicians were portable with their instruments and moving around the stage in synchronicity.- Byrne is 72 but moves like he is 22.- the crowd were really up for it. Despite being 90% seated, after 3 songs, nearly everyone was up dancing for the next hour+
- the stage design was exceptional.- it started at 20:10 and finished at 22:00 so simpler to get home.- the songs. Byrne is such a unique song writer and continues to bang out catchy, weird hits.I could watch him for hours.3
