Pretty much most people except prices rise for everything.lonman said:letthegoodtimesroll said:
Why would you expect to pay more ? The club is running a business where every match it has thousands of seats not being used. Raising season ticket prices just increases the likelihood of those seats remaining unused.lonman said:Just Renewed £491.50. Good Value. Almost everything goes up in price every year, Clubs costs have increased. I expect to pay more.Everything costs more now than a year or 2 ago. Cinema, dinner out, pint in the pub, car tyres literally everything. The assumption by many on here that Charlton season tickets or Charlton are immune to increased cost pressure is for the birds. The back of the fag packet economic argument that you’ll make more by selling more seats is stuff of fantasy. If that’s the case the cinema would cost a fiver rather than a tenner, a pint would cost 3quid and not 7. I’m no economist nor have any experience in price modelling. But the argument that if it’s full you make more is nonsensical.
there will be a sweet spot somewhere in terms of revenue - costs = profit and I guess that’s where all businesses try to be Charlton being no different.
What people object to is when the are being ripped off or their loyalty is being taken for granted.
Our actual ticket structure is too complicated and has been since sweat assets man changed it and no one has ever ripped it up and started again.
Until you do that you have too many variables and some people increases are fine (I include myself in that this time) but others are steep.
These are ticket prices it should not be complicated, but ours are so muddle it's more like when a government changes tax rules7 -
Without being flippant. I don’t see the ticket pricing as muddled or complicated. I lost my 15quid valley gold discount and the price went up a bit as I expected it to do. I renewed the ticket and paid more than last year. But my opinion it’s still really good value.JohnnyH2 said:

21quid for an afternoon out in London with your mates watching something you’re invested in. I don’t think there is much about better or cheaper than that.
if someone wants to subsidise my entertainment to the tune of 8/9mill a year or whatever the losses are then I’m not gonna moan about a few quid extra on my season ticket cost2 -
Was expecting £550, so to renew at £490 is a positive. The club really needs to sort the pricing zone system out, it is beyond confusing. I appreciate it’s a legacy issue which predates the owners, but find a strategy to reduce to the two zone only.2

The moving of seats issue is always sensitive and needs to be handled with great care. It just feels like a lot of times to me that the current SMT does not have a handle of what long term supporters want (other than results which they have achieved).
The dug out issue has been so obvious for ages it needed sorting and this SMT are dealing with it.
The corporate changes are far more complicated. The club made it sound when this was announced last week that it was due to issues with current corporate access is causing issues. So if its as simple as that just do swaps with those in corporates against those like Bob Munro, not a perfect solution bit handled right it could be a smooth process.
Instead it seems like they are kicking out current season ticket holders, offering them nothing in return like a discount, or different options in the ground and all of this should have been done well in advance of any season ticket announcement.
I reckon those being booted out is for your foreign day trippers, watch our empty those sections will be for midweek games or the majority of games if we are in League One

Why should people be offered a discount for moving a seat, probably not very far away, if the seat isn’t for sale you can’t sit there.JohnnyH2 said:The moving of seats issue is always sensitive and needs to be handled with great care. It is what normal businesses do if they are inconveniencing an existing "customer", especially where that is a long-standing "customer".Sword65pf said:

It’s not an inconvenience, there are plenty of seats available. There is a clear reason the club is doing what it is, unfortunately people will have to adapt. People wanting discounts for no reason.superclive98 said:

Because they are long term supporters. You piss them off over issues like this they don't come back.Sword65pf said:

Always risky using the term customers when talking Charlton, but if a pub had regulars, and a new guvnor comes in and moves the regulars for brand new customers who will instantly spend more money as its so exciting. The regulars will say stuff this as being taken for granted and its fairy sure the new lot will soon get bored and find a new activity.
What the SMT needed to do here was get to those supporters being moved before any of this was announced, explain the position and really treat them special. Do that those people will move but still come.

How do you possibly know that it isn't an inconvenience and how the available seats compare with those currently occupied?Sword65pf said:

I’m a long term season ticket holder, it wouldn’t piss me off enough to make a big deal out of it, nor would I expect any recompense the club is doing something to improve things, these things happen.JohnnyH2 said:

There are ways to tactfully go about such things. Or explore other pricing options for seats to be retained at a mark-up, but the hospitality not taken.Sword65pf said:

Disregarding lifelong supporters who endured years on end of 3rd division football, to make way for a quick buck while the going is good.
The club aren't reading the room here, that's where we're at.13 -
Because we have 27,000 of them and we only fill 20,000 approx. Sure people will be pedantic about numbers but anyone with sense will get the idea.IMO it wouldn’t be an inconvenience, thats how I feel not expecting people to agree, but that’s fine .superclive98 said:

However SOME people don't like it, but if the club are pro active they can deal with it easily, in this case they have not for SOME7 -
What I don't quite understand is why they are expanding the hospitality seating area when, as I understand it, they don't even sell out at the moment.7

I’m guessing they’re going to revamp the hospitality in the off season to make it more appealing. If they don’t the whole thing is even more bonkersLargeAddick said:What I don't quite understand is why they are expanding the hospitality seating area when, as I understand it, they don't even sell out at the moment.0 -
Because they think that there might be a quid or two (in the shirt-term, in my opinion) to be made.LargeAddick said:What I don't quite understand is why they are expanding the hospitality seating area when, as I understand it, they don't even sell out at the moment.1 -
The club have you would assume seen a good reason for doing it, to move things forward. Otherwise yes it’s a bit odd, but they aren’t stupid and if they feel a decision is worth it that’s they’re choice to upset a few.fenaddick said:

Nothing to suggest they aren’t stupid with this sort of thing, they upset existing hospitality supporters last season and then I don’t think sold those areas particularly well. They’re chasing money without proper thought in my opinionSword65pf said:
