Didn't have a great game today and has been pretty poor of late, having looked excellent initially
Has he got a case of the Brees?
    More the Jones's

If you've got any form of attacking intent in your body it will be surgically removed!!

Been a good signing so far and one I think we all would want to see permanently sign in the summer.

But last night he, along with everyone was pretty poor, thought was better once we moved to a back 4 but as a wb both him and chambers were so far behind the ball.

We see this constantly with our wingbacks. They come in, they're exciting and aggressive up the pitch and then they drop further and further back. Ramsay could never meaningfully get forward after the first few games last season, Bree's heatmap got closer and closer to his goal after being mostly in the opposition half and box in the first 5 games, it did for Apter once he stopped pushing as high up the pitch and started having to rely on his defensive ability and now we've seen it a bit with Clarke. The attacking freedom seems to drain over time, we even saw it with TC on the left playing very, very deep and worrying about his defensive responsibilities more than getting at the opposition. We're in a pressure environment and I do think the reality of adhering to the defensive requirements starts to weigh on the players as they play more and more for the side. You can survive not being very creative in a Jones team but you will not get away with failing defensively as Harry Clarke found out after the Pompey game. It's a complex role being the RWB in our side, it's no surprise that Ramsay and Clarke have both looked quite a bit freer when they've had Fevrier in front of them in recent games. Having to take responsibility for the entire right side in both attacking and defending while being asked to put in an insane graft is tough for any player, I think they get quite jaded before too long.

Been poor recently, really struggled with Johnston last night. If Jones wasn’t injured I’d be playing Sichenje and Ramsay on the right and Clarke on the bench

If Burke were / is fit, I would go Ramsay RWB, Collins / Burke / Bell in the middle and Chambers on the left.

Bit harsh, not his best game last night but he was no worse than the other 10 players on the pitch in red. And he was on the bench until the 90th min on Saturday!
  • He played like the nation knew it was his fault that we didn't beat Portsmouth. He was meant to score after 40 seconds and hear the full-time whistle after 90 minutes.

In addition to his second big miss in recent weeks, Harry Clarke lost his perfect early celebration record; he's now 2-1 for the season as per my count.

He’s made me fall in love with a loan player. He pops up in fantastic attacking positions, has a good cross in him, unleashed a long throw today and is usually solid in defence. Desperately need Ipswich to go up so we have a chance of keeping him

Would be a great signing, so solid and slings in a lovely cross

Great performance today and I would love to see him stay on, if only for another season of the guy behind me calling him Baz.

There’s only one Barry Clarke it would appear

Heavy touch first half stopped him from scoring. Should realistically have scored four by now.

Extremely solid and surprisingly quick which means he can cover defensively very well as well as close down quickly. Just needs to learn how to score and Bree will be a distant memory. Must buy this summer imo, love his attitude too.

That ludicrously disallowed goal at Leicester cursed him

It's uncanny how right he was in his tweet after, about the officials robbing him of his one goal a season.

Its just not going to happen.

He really needs to learn to finish. Could be one of our top scorers the chances he's had past month. Otherwise he's been solid and would be a good signing if he is available in the summer

Live the bloke. The sort of player Curbs would have signed, will run through brock walls and never give up.

Would be nice I reckon a combination of Bree and Clarke would be the ultimate championship rwb tbh the up and down work rate and clinical finishing. The stats probably make a mockery of that but i'd settle for it.

The inverted 4231/352 worked last Season but due to the nature of the championship a traditional 352 has looked far more better. Need to accept won’t work get him gone and throw the cheque book on both those two down the right
  • Harry is another no nonsense player like Jones - gives his all. If his finishing was better he wouldn't be playing for us.

Would be a good signing - hopefully he stays.
  • Reminds me so much of Danny Mills (the good bits not the idiotic bits).

Is that just because of their lack of hair?

Sign him up. He is rapid and creates threats through the directness of his movement, while being able to stand up to most wingers in this league and have recovery pace as needed.

Yeah if he could finish that'd be great, but if he could finish he'd probably be on the radar of teams much higher up the table, or Prem teams. He's still a RWB.

He and Chambers (or Edwards, when he is back) are absolutely critical to our shape. I would prioritise Clarke in the summer presuming we survive. I really, really like him.

If we manage to get him for pre-season he'll be on finishing drills all over the summer and wouldnt be surprised to see him get 5 or so next year

If Harry's finishing was better he'd been playing as a striker!

As I mentioned on the post match thread: Clarke's contact is up at the end of June '26' and I can't see how the 12 month extension option can be triggered as he has only played for Charlton and Sheffield United over the last year of his 3 year Ipswich contract.

Any football agents on here like to talk about the pros and cons of '1 year contract extension' other than what is on Ai Google ?

They will probably extend it just to get a fee from us or another championship team. He’s done well enough for us that there’s going to be plenty of interest, but really hope we can get him signed

One thing I have to say…. Why is Carey on long throws and not Clarke? Carey’s are average at best…. Clarke fired one in like a bloody missile.
