Just got home to Bristol after a great day out at the Valley. Good performance and an important win.
Thought all the players did their bit today, with no stupid mistakes. We made Brum look bang average.

As others have said Jones was immense, especially as he was flattened by a forearm smash early on.

Don't go very often these days as I live in Bristol and I'm getting on.
In fact this season I've been to just 3 games - Swansea, Oxford and Brum. What do these games have in common?

    Charlie Kelman scored.

Bumped into @PaddyP17 before and after the game, then @DamoNorthStand introduced himself on the train back to London Bridge when we were talking about @oohaahmortimer 98% safety stat.

    Great to meet you guys.
Great to meet you both as well.

I have often thought we should do a Charlton Life end of season social. Be good to put faces to names. This forum is so central to so many people’s lives
A pleasure to meet you on the train Damo and see you again Twizzle! Particularly after an important win. And I agree; this forum has given a lot of people joy
    'Scuse me !

Dykes clearly loved that but what on earth is Rodwell doing that near the dressing room

Is there some injunction against him? Why shouldn't he be there congratulating players.  What are you on about?
I don’t like owners/directors/executives in and around dressing rooms. I’m sure in this case it’s innocent as NJ wouldn’t stand for anything else but it stinks of meddling/spying for the board
Rodwell is de facto director of football...

He makes a fuss of a player who is out of contract in a few months, who, probably 90% of the fan base would like to re-sign...

You call it "meddling"... I call it "doing his job"...
Similar to Sadiq Khan, Charlton are now charging everyone for using their tunnel. Rodwell was simply taking £5 off everyone as they walked through. I don't understand what all the fuss was about really.

A jolly boys outing...a few crates of ale in the back of a 56 seater coach, and a beano down to Margate...😉

Really pleased with yesterday's performance which I think has been a little under-appreciated by some, perhaps because we only scored one goal.
Birmingham desperately needed a win to keep them in play-off contention, but at no time did we let them get a grip on the game. I thought our midfield, so often toothless, increasingly stifled them as the game went on. We hunted in packs which is something we don't do very often.
From Mannion to the four who shaed striking duties it was a really good team performance, Mannion impressed with his handling and didstribution, but didn't have a shot to save that I can remember, and in front of him Ramsay and Jones in particular were superb. Bell is always good, and looks so calm on the ball, Champers solves our wing back back problem, and will improve. Clarke had his best game for us I think, but again should probably have scored. His first touch was a little heavy, maning defender had time to get close enough to block.
Weeks is always involved and did well, and Leaburn offered a different challenge when he came on, and had a good chance to make the game safe.  TC was getting loads of stick in the first twenty minutes, bacuse he seems to take breathers at times. But perhaps that's his style. Lull defenders into a false sense of security, and then explode into life. You could tell they hate it when he gets on the ball.
Great finish from Kelman. He needed that!
So we've played really well in consecutive games, and I think we can give Middlesbrough a game.

A good summary, but who is Weeks?
    Worked it out - Dykes.

Alfie May played in leather soled shoes? No wonder we let him go so easily.

Yep. At the previous game, I stuck a £1 on Kelman to score at half time based on what you told me on the previous game. Wish I had done it again yesterday. It was good to see you and your brother again. You should come to more games.

As you know I am going to Colombia from April 5 to April 20, so I will miss one home game, if you want to borrow my season ticket for the Preston home game, let me or Crissy know and I will give that to Crissy.

Not that I care ... but, Birmingham turned up with some attitude today.

Turning round the KO, taking an age on every dead ball situation, feigning injury.

I often look at other teams with envy at the talent at their disposal, but if they can't add a bit of 'Charlton' heart and soul to that, it ain't worth a light.
I was listening to the Birmingham commentary. They were very kind to that idiot Priska, and at the end they were referring to Charlton employing the dark arts to win, which given some of their antics, was a very strange take. Just made the win sweeter.
I have a friend who is a Pompey fan and two who are Derby fans - all of them said that we are the dirtiest team they have played this season. I was gob-smacked, believing that we are a generally honest and fair team and that it's other teams who are continually fouling us and getting away with it. It goes to show how biased football supporters are.

At one point yesterday I was going to comment that we are a binary mans wet dream. Since the new year it's been mostly 1-0 wins or losses or 1-1 draws.

But as long as we stay up I'm not going to complain, although the summer recruitment & next seasons team set up has to be a lot better.

Super start to March, so let's march on up the table .. great to see Kelman scoring, I had lost all faith in him
Mostly, thank the Lord for Jones, Ramsay and Bell, one of the best defence trios in the division
Lastly, I don't hold out too much hope that we can sign Harry Clarke on a permanent deal in the summer. He is one of the best loanees we have ever had and if he costs a lot and wants to join us, please splash the cash
I believe he was 4th choice at Ipswich so you never know.

Hoping next season for a defense made up of Bree, Clarke, Ramsey, Sichenje, Lloyd, Bell, Edwards + 3 additions.  Move on a Burke and Gillesphey.
No idea whether any of Gough, Mitchell, Laquetabua etc are up to stand in roles.
I doubt Southampton will let him go.

Blimey Golfie you've been complaining non stop all season, when virtually everyone else could see that our best chance of staying up was playing the way we have.

Ashley young is 40 next season, and apparently they’re keen too offload Ben Johnson so he’s automatically going to be 2nd choice this summer anyway. I think a deal can be done for Clarke it’s just are we going to be able to outcompete other interest

In this table of the most fouls committed per game, we are 4th. So yes we are quite dirty. However as Derby are 3rd, the Derby fans are in no position to talk  :D

    https://playerstats.football/championship/stats/yellow-cards

Similarly for yellow cards, we're 3rd and Derby are 2nd!

What has been impressive though, is that despite all the yellows, we've only picked up one red.

I'm glad we're not "plucky little Charlton" anymore.
I don't think we are a dirty team by any stretch of the imagination, but we don't take any shit and will let them know it and I for one am pleased about that

We are not a dirty team. Both us and Derby will be near the top of that table because we are close to the bottom of the possession table. To identify the genuinely dirty teams, you need to look at where that correlation breaks down - ie, a team that is near the top of the possession stats table but also high up on the fouls committed table.

Doesn't that stat rather depend on what the ref in any given game is deeming a foul though? You can argue it evens itself out over the course of the season, but if the most picky/lenient ref supports your team they're never going to get assigned to your game, so you won't suffer/benefit due to that as much as other teams.
