Yeah can't remember exactly how it broke down but the Ipswich fan who spoke to RC after we signed him basically said Clarke was the one (or maybe one of two) likely to be in the long term plans of the club. Obviously depends how everything shakes out at season end but I don't think he's someone they will be looking to offload, and certainly not on the cheap.Crispywood said:
Ashley young is 40 next season, and apparently they’re keen too offload Ben Johnson so he’s automatically going to be 2nd choice this summer anyway. I think a deal can be done for Clarke it’s just are we going to be able to outcompete other interestcharltonbob said:
I believe he was 4th choice at Ipswich so you never know.Lincsaddick said:Super start to March, so let's march on up the table .. great to see Kelman scoring, I had lost all faith in him
Mostly, thank the Lord for Jones, Ramsay and Bell, one of the best defence trios in the division
Lastly, I don't hold out too much hope that we can sign Harry Clarke on a permanent deal in the summer. He is one of the best loanees we have ever had and if he costs a lot and wants to join us, please splash the cash0 -
PWR11AM kick off my end, had a big day at horse racing lined up, full day out etc, so really was intent on not letting Charlton ruin my weekend, managed to get the Mrs to leave just as FT whistle went, haven’t come down off cloud nine since. Genuinely, what a massive win that was.No fluke about it either, throughly deserved and Jones got the game plan right, as he did against Wrexham it just didn’t go our way.Woke up with a massive hangover today and just cracked on on the beers today and feeling absolutely brilliant for it right now, purely due to the fact the mighty reds got 3 points. We won’t f*ck it up from here. We are staying up.
I wanted Jones gone after Millwall, mostly was emotional after the result but i still had some massive concerns, he’s answered them and him and the board have proved why they’re in charge and make decisions and fans like me don’t. COYR.8 -

1) Lloyd Jones did really well not to react/follow up on that striker that left one in on him and floored him. If he'd been booked it would have been a suspension. Its "just" being a pro, I guess....but still.
2) Kelman cupping his ears at Brum. His dad is from Birmingham, right? Maybe a Villa fan?
COYR!
Nathan Jones 100% support
Charlie was born in Basildon, Essex and his mum is English.
Kelman only went to Texas for his dad's work from 4-10 and again at 14 when he played youth football for a year in Dallas before coming back to play in the Southend academy.
Kelman senior became an American citizen, hence why Charlie qualifies to play for the US of A.
If Charlie's dad is a Brummie ? that would explain why he wanted to escape!

From what I remember, that's how they played last season too. They achieved record League One points without playing beautiful football most of the time.Raith_C_Chattonell said:Not that I care ... but, Birmingham turned up with some attitude today.
Turning round the KO, taking an age on every dead ball situation, feigning injury.
I often look at other teams with envy at the talent at their disposal, but if they can't add a bit of 'Charlton' heart and soul to that, it ain't worth a light.1 -
So essentially they play a more expensive version of the same strategy as us. Support us, save money and not have to live in the hell hole that is Birmingham. Win win.stoneroses19 said:

I've always thought that Lloyd Jones is very good at not getting a 2nd yellow when he's already been booked !killerandflash said:

I have a friend who is a Pompey fan and two who are Derby fans - all of them said that we are the dirtiest team they have played this season. I was gob-smacked, believing that we are a generally honest and fair team and that it's other teams who are continually fouling us and getting away with it. It goes to show how biased football supporters are.ken_shabby said:
I was listening to the Birmingham commentary. They were very kind to that idiot Priska, and at the end they were referring to Charlton employing the dark arts to win, which given some of their antics, was a very strange take. Just made the win sweeter.Raith_C_Chattonell said:Not that I care ... but, Birmingham turned up with some attitude today.

In this table of the most fouls committed per game, we are 4th. So yes we are quite dirty. However as Derby are 3rd, the Derby fans are in no position to talk
https://playerstats.football/championship/stats/yellow-cards
Similarly for yellow cards, we're 3rd and Derby are 2nd!
What has been impressive though, is that despite all the yellows, we've only picked up one red.0 -

Well deserved win ,I dont think Mannion had shot to save, despite all the Brum possession, they never looked like scoring.Just shows that money does not always win games, they had Stansfield and That idiot Priske probably 15 m between them and couldnt raise one effort on goal of note. We Had Dykes,Leaburn and Kelman ,and where far more dangerous.Really think next season, assuming we stay up.could be a blinder,we have a young side ,they will benefit greatly from this year .0

Doubtful. Just one outcome that was possible but very unlikely IMO - no one can say with authority what would have happened. I think he wasted our time - didn’t resolve the Valley issue, mismanaged the club, treated people badly and had to be bailed out himself.eastterrace6168 said:

It will never surprise me the ability of some on this forum to regurgitate the same tired points and arguments ad nausem. You would think every point and counter point around TS contribution to the club would have been said by now.
I would rather we focused on more important on field matters. On that topic:
Green or Wagstaff?4 -
So, everything was just peachy was it, appreciate your in the know more than any of us Airman, and appreciate your words generally, but the guy did save us from Southall & Co and the blind alley we were heading down...didn't he...🤷♂️Airman Brown said:

We don't even know if our current owners play any musical instruments4 -
Southall had lost control when Sandgaard turned up. The only place the people in charge were heading was administration, which would have forced Duchatelet to the table. There were other people out there with very significant assets (including US based) who would have picked it up and could have blown RD away. We don’t know what that ownership or any other would have looked like and we never will. We just know what happened and that TS is in prison.eastterrace6168 said:

Thanks Airman...agree re 1984.0

Did TS by us from Southall whilst some dentist in Wales was claiming he owned us? And was the court case that Lauren Kreamer won essentially proving that the Welsh dentist didn’t own us so the TS take over could continue? It was all so mad but I’m sure my recollection of events is wrong, it couldn’t have been that made can it?!0

I think it’s more that kick and rush football doesn’t suit Kelman.wmcf123 said:
Kelman doesn’t suit our brand of kick and rush football .Exiled_Addick said:It’s tricky with Kelman. I don’t think there’s any issue with attitude or effort, but he has struggled to have much influence in games when he hasn’t scored. However, the boy can clearly finish and it’s not entirely on him that he hasn’t been provided with a ton of chances. With our biggest issue being scoring goals, it feels like we need to get him in the side for moments like that today because, apart from maybe Godden or Carey, I’m not sure anyone else would’ve finished that chance b cause it needed both composure and an ability to generate power on the shot without much back lift.
The trouble is, taking TC out of the side can also make us very one paced and we lack players who can carry the ball up the pitch.
Hopefully we can add some quality in the summer that means we’re less reliant on one or two players to provide those sparks.Overall, though, I like Kelman and think he could well kick on next season with the right partner and setup.1
