you just know we are gonna nick something here to help the Spanners out
So what. That's of secondary importance.
If we "nick" something I'll be made up, because it's what we do for ourselves that is of primary concern
I didn't say it in a bad way!

If Oxford and Leicester can pick up points against Boro, so can we.
Blackburn also got a point there on Boxing Day.

After watching what they did to QPR, you'd think we have no chance. Very fluid, confident team orchestrated by Hayden Hackney. Hopefully, we'll have a plan to nullify him as best we can.

    3-2.

Obviously the decision to rest Lloyd would’ve been easier had Sichenje not Charltonned himself but for me given the games Lloyd would miss for a yellow, he has to sit this one out, even if Nathan has to describe it as a bit of tightness during the warm up…

From their forum, let's hope we don't disappoint.

"Let's face it, Charlton are going to set up in a low block, close off the middle and hope to pinch a goal from a set piece or counter attack. It won't be easy dealing with them. They're actually in decent form at the moment: 9 points from the last 6 games. After a really bad spell they've stabilised by becoming hyper-defensive. Scored 4 and conceded just 3 in the last 6 games.

Frankly, I would rather we were playing almost anyone else but them right now."

I have read that boro have won 20 times this season when scoring first. All we got to do is score first ... easy 😀

It’s very simple … beat Middbro and Oxford and the rest of the season are friendlies
  • Perfect game to tempt fate and all say "i'll do this if we win" etc. So i'll start it off. Been a committed veggie for 19 years. If we win tomorrow i'll be so happy i will eat a rasher of bacon.

Come on Charlton, I dare you!

Exactly. I'd pack the midfield for this, bringing in Coady or Rankin-Costello as an extra central midfielder for TC, with Dykes the loan striker and Carey behind him. Or play TC at left wing back instead of Chambers.

Be really solid in the middle to stop Hackney playing through us, play for the nil nil, hoping to nick a goal from a set piece.

Might see Coady back and stick to Hackney like glue.
He would have to catch him first.

    Difficult but not impossible,  1-1.
  • The scheduling of our longest away trip 3 days before a 12.15 ko is nuts. Don't know if they can do it but the club should put in a complaint and insist it doesn't happen again.

The mechanics of the teams travel fascinates me. Do they travel up Tuesday and stay the night or go up on the Wednesday? If the latter, however they choose to travel - even flying - is going to mean a relatively early start.

Do they stay up there after the game and have a relatively comfortable journey back on the Thursday? If they come back after the match, I doubt anyone will be back in bed much before 4am. Hardly the perfect preparation for a game in 2 days time. Either way leaves only one full day preparation for the vital Oxford game.

Anyone know what the team is actually doing as regards travelling?

I would guess that Boro, Huddersfield, Portsmouth and us have collectively played each other the most through history.

Must win game.  Jones should be sacked if we can't beat teams like Middlesbrough.

I thought we'd established on Saturday that we'd signed him on a short-term deal and he wasn't on loan?

    ;)

Hopefully we stink the place out with the most boring but effective defensive performance of the season. Even that might not be enough for a point.

Don't mind making lots of changes for this one, Oxford is the important game of the week.

That said, a shock win at Boro and we're very close to being safe, irrespective of what happens at Oxford.

Lots of ways NJ might play this one. Let's see.

Remember the game really well too... Stephan Anderson in goal, probably should have been more, dominated up there
