That back line would struggle in league one. All eyes on Saturday sensibly

Meh, don't mind the changes, could have gone further and thrown in Costello and Fev for a start.

Can't say I agree with NJ selection. Every game is worth the same three points and you never know what game those points will come in. A win tonight was unlikely but you just never know. Now the pressure is on for a result at Oxford. Lose tonight then lose anyway at Oxford and NJ looks a right plum.

Wasn't tonight the last night that a booking for Lloyd Jones leads to suspension ? I agree with a lot of comments about tonight's team selection but there is one thing that you should all bear in mind, I'm going to Oxford on Saturday so you can put Golfie in the back three tonight if you want, you posters are, I'm sure, are nice people but fuck me you're selfish !

    Strong Bench.
Think tonight's team was picked with Oxford in mind.
    Not necessarily a bad thing.
So aslong that is the rational

Absolutely zero margin for not winning the Oxford game now
Drawing at Oxford isn’t a bad result for us at all.

We already have a -10 goal difference, and we are no way guaranteed to win a difficult away match at Oxford either. Get smashed tonight and don’t pick any points up at the weekend, the mood really changes again.

Id 100% of rested Jones. But really feels like changing to that back 3 is a risk.
You have to consider charles sinjenje is injured

    Is it a friendly tonight ? 😉😀

Not a team anyone would have guessed and we are wearing an unnecessary 3rd kit. ☹️
The Blue kit is our away (2nd) kit 😅

NJ was talking about the ridiculousness of having a Wednesday night fixture followed by a 12:30 on Saturday and seems to have taken that problem into his own hands.

Gough is a strong lad, and I feel him and Coady will be fine, my only concern is Macca, we shall see... but the rest of the team in front of them look as solid as we could have hoped for, and it's up to them to work their socks off to protect the make shift defence forced on us by the stupid fixture list giving us these two matches so close together...

Watching that bit of coverage of our guys arriving at the changing room, apart from Kelman I can't remember them looking so miserable.

And it's definitely time this 'Gillesphey is fine with a proper wingback in front of him' theory is put to the test.

A real damned if you do, damned if you don’t scenario.

Play strongest team tonight, lose, then lose again on Saturday and a large core of people would say ‘he should have rested some at Boro’.

Can only assess after the results and performances in hindsight

I can’t see it, but it would be very Charlton to get a draw tonight with a weakened team, help Millwall, then lose to Oxford on Saturday, wouldn’t it?

This is the right choice. Saturday is the more winnable game
Why? Others drawn at Borough. Charlton not won in 7 at Oxford. Oxford on a good run, maybe boosted by beating Blackburn.

Macca has been ok with a strong LWB alongside him earlier in the season.
Got a feeling Chambers will have to earn his corn tonight.

NJ creating a big problem for himself.

Drops first teamers but what's he gonna do when we win tonight?

Actually a draw on Saturday is not too bad as Oxford would gain no ground and it's one game less to play ... Still terrified though of being tonked tonight. I also thought the players looked miserable tonight but it could just be staying in Middlesbrough all day has finished them off!

Good lord, that defence. Losing is one thing, obliterating our goal difference is another. Let’s hope it’s not the latter (actually, let’s hope it’s somehow not the former either!).

NJ does like to sometimes make these big "swing for the fences" calls that are win or bust. Making so many changes and dropping some of those players is a very bold choice. Hopefully it turns out to be the right one but we won't know for sure until Saturday one way or another.

I don’t blame NJ one bit.

Injury risks for Bell and Kayne (who now has no direct replacement) - makes sense to not risk them.

Jones - Cards and Injury make him too risky.

    Dykes - Keep him fresh.

We’ll probably get absolutely tonked here, but at least he’s committing to the Oxford game - he’s earned the right to do that.

Been critical of jones’ strange selection choices before and bitten me on the arse (Leicester away when he started 6 defenders and Leaburn and dykes). Personally think they’ll run right through us but more than happy to be proven wrong.

Would also rather boro have the 3 points to stop Millwall going up
Millwall won’t go up..No Matter what.
