The Boys of Summer 2026 (MLB)

The season opener is on Netflix worldwide, the Yankees at the mighty Giants.

Trouble is that it starts at 3AM UK time on Thursday March 26th.

Hopefully it will be available after and we can avoid the score and watch it Thursday night.

Its Dodgers to lose as ever, but i feel positive about the Red Sox.

Our rotation is up there with the best in MLB, and Roman Anthony is a total joke at the plate. Made some good trades too - we look good.

As an aside, anyone kept up with the WBC?

Kept half an eye..... half the teams are full of players with very questionable ancestory lines i would suggest.

Watched most of the US-Italy (aka Italian Americans) game the other night. Italy have a White Sox player and a White Sox prospect so wanted to see how they looked. Both homered, then Kyle Teel did his hamstring.

But yeah, it's a fun exhibition competition. It'll probably never be taken as seriously as a world cup type thing, but it's still fun baseball in March!

Saw two Giants-Padres games many years ago so I’ll always have a soft spot for them but I’m a forlorn Mets fan through and through.

Rays score 6 in the top of 6th to go 7 - 1 ahead only for the Redbirds to score 8 in the bottom of the 6th.

Finishes Cards 9 - 7 Rays at a sunny sold out Busch stadium on opening day.

I just find it frustrating as a Diamondbacks fan, looking over at LA and seeing their wage bill essentially being the same as the bottom 5 MLB teams COMBINED. Their lineup is so deep it's laughable.

Sooner they bring in a salary cap the better IMO

Off to see my first Sox game of the year on Saturday evening as I head to Dodger Stadium

Cant wait - especially as we have been on fire recently. Great venue to watch baseball as well

Somehow the Diamondbacks are over .500 despite no-one having a standout season for us, Corbin has been our best player but overall the pitching has been mediocre and we don't have any true power bats. Thankfully the Giants and Padres have been really lacklustre

We're out on holiday at the moment and have tickets for the same night!

Looking forward to it, adding the stadium to my list of Tampa, Mets (my team, we'll leave that for the moment) and Washington

Same - we are out here in Orange County where my wife grew up.... off to San Diego tomorrow, then driving back to take the kids to Universal on the Friday and Saturday. Me and my eldest going to the Sox game Saturday PM.

    Was in Vegas since Weds.

Indeed - the good times definitely well outnumbered by the bad...

Let’s go Sox…. I’ve tried telling my son that wearing a Dodgers hat is like wearing a Millwall shirt but he isn’t having it

And we turn out the lights at Dodger Stadium. 3-2 win with two huge bombs by Rafaela.

When we were back in the UK saw a geezer wearing a hat with the Yanks and the evil Dodgers logo on it! Turns out it is supposed to be a commemorative thing from when the Dodgers played in New York, which would be fine, if the Brooklyn Dodgers ever had NY as their logo, but they didn't, it was a "B"...
  • So it’s the end of the regular season!

How happy is everyone with their team’s performance?

The Giants did a magnificent 65 to 97 season, with coach Vitello getting hmself ejected, an MLB record, 7 times!

Sad to see Mike Krukow sign off after commentating for 36 year. He’ll certainly be missed!

Out of the playoffs by 1 game.

Would have been the 4th best team in the AL and comfortably in the playoffs, would have won the AL West easily instead of being 3rd in the NL West, would also have won the AL Central, and finished just 1 game back from the Boston Red Sox. Instead we're on the outside looking in yet again.

Really need a couple of ace starting pitchers next season, and a proper 1B to make us competitive, however I'm fully expecting Marte to move on
  • Sox went from being unbelievably bad / worst team in MLB to somehow making the post season, though we have flatlined a bit in recent weeks. Think the Yanks away in 3 will be a step too far in the wild card, but we are looking really good for next season with some great young pitching and lots more power in the line up than we had a year ago. Since June we played AL East winning baseball so just need to play that out the gate in March.

I'm a White Sox fans and the Red Sox absolutely clobbered us this year. They looked a very good team from what I saw. I don't want to jinx you, but I don't think the Yankees are that great without Judge. I think you've got a good shot.

That team is so fucked. That Front Office is terrible, the manager is terrible, the farm system isn't great (I live in Eugene where their High A team is based--for now). I'm really sorry for what you're going through/going to have to go through until ownership realizes Buster Posey isn't a modern GM.

    The Mets sucked.

Wasnt nice seeing Alonso tearing it up for another team.
  • Padres have hit some incredible form over the past month. Have they timed it right or too early? Time will tell.

They’re hitting everything right now right through the order. The rotation has Michael King as a real force and then a bit of a hit and miss collection of supporting acts.

They’re in the mix for sure but you’d never have much confidence in this franchise to pull it all together when it really matters. They have too many egos who wilt under pressure.

Astros somehow make the postseason and secure 3rd seed with an 81-81 record, which has never been accomplished before i.e. not a winning record. At one stage they were 11 games below .500 and riddled with injuries, so to achieve what they have is decent, despite the weakness of the AL West.

Hit most HRs at 226, 3 more than the Yankees.
Only team in playoffs with a minus run differential (-32), which the Mets also had finishing bottom of the NL East with a record of 74-88.

Thats more impressive than it looks considering the Yankees play in a park with dimensions akin to little league
