He was booed when his name was read out before the game .. the main booing was when he was not replaced by NJ first set of subs …. Perhaps we should invest in new substitute boards that have the number 7 on themmsomerton said:

Clarke is a right back. It could also be argued why is he getting into those positions when Campbell, Kelman and leaburn aren’t_uptheaddicks said:A real shame to hear some fans reaction.
Let's take Harry Clarke for example. He's likeable and liked by fans, but essentially nobody is focusing on him for missing some absolute sitters that have cost us between 6-9 points essentially.1 -
Ah, he's a right back who is just going against instruction and bursting into the box due to his personal desire rather then Campbell, Kelman, Leaburn (especially when 2 of them are on the bench).Todds_right_hook said:

Jones comments about what he does in training did not help TC yesterday .. the amount of comments aimed at TC from lower north were constant all match1
-
Reading that Charlton supporters want Campbell to fail!!! I don’t think anyone wants a player to fail.
people are frustrated with his in ability to stay in side, pass the ball in front of a Charlton player and lack of effort.
i disagree with the effort comments. He is regularly played out of position and quite often when in an attacking position, our other attacking options are static
he is clearly struggling with confidence hence that inexcusable ball to Clarke where Clarke had two players around him
I think 95% of our supporters knew that he he needed to be taken out of the firing line yesterday. But he started and was poor. I think people are frustrated at him, not wanting him to fail4 -

Could jog back rather than walk though, no?fenaddick said:
He probably could if he wasn’t also running 10-12km regularly and expecting to be moved to WB where he needs more energy. He can’t be flat out all the timeCroydon said:
Tbf, he could make more effort to get back onside at times.hezzla said:
He was getting pelters from someone today for not competing for the ball when he was clearly coming back from an offside position. People seeing what they want at this point.altrinchamaddick said:
That's because, as a professional footballer, he assessed quickly that he had no chance of chasing the ball down, so conserved his energy for a realistic opportunity.IR94 said:There was a proper strange moment today where a long ball and he literally ran away from the ball like he was playing dodgeball, one of the most surreal things I have seen on a football field.
This is the sort of comment that I find so frustrating, making out that he bottled it, but in reality made the correct footballing decision.

This can't be true surely? I didn't hear any boos when the teams were read out, but that's outrageous if there was.RonnieMoore said:

How do you know it doesn’t happen at other clubs……there’s nothing different specifically about us as a fan base and it’s thought patterns and opinions…..what makes you think otherwise?msomerton said:
Charlton fans have been abusing him almost since he has appeared in the first team, remember the Gillingham FA cup game 2023, he received so much abuse, I sat at the very front of that dangerous stand, and when he was taking a corner dozens rushed to front to give the most appalling verbal abuse, he will have heard it as they were only 34 or 5 yards away.iainment said:
I’m in the West Upper Block L and I heard people moaning about him. But not loudly.2121 said:Where does he get abuse tho?! I sit west upper and dont hear it.
It is a Charlton supporters thing, to abuse our youth products as soon as possible, for example Konsa got it at the Millwall game we lost 3-1 and for most of his appearances, even Kanu was starting to get abused before he went out on loan. If I was Tyreece I would be looking to move on as quickly as possible.
I think we are pretty typical, no better or no worse than every club out there…..to suggest otherwise is complete bollox.1 -

This whole TC thing which obsesses a chunk of our fan base is by far the most difficult aspect of being a new fan this season. Is he occasionally frustrating to watch? Yes. Of course. Are Charlton occasionally frustrating to watch? Yes. Of course. However in both cases Ive loved being a part of the journey we’ve been on this season, and I wouldn’t really have it any other way. TC is our obvious attacking outlet and until such time he’s either replaced by a better option or we have firepower elsewhere so that he doesn’t have to take on all that pressure on his own, he has my full support. Trust in Jonesy and Up The Addicks!

Whatever his shortcomings he's our only flair player - if you watch the extended highlights on Sky you'll see that he features. The sad f***ers who berate him at the ground just sound pathetic.
If the rest of the team were world beaters the criticism might carry a bit more weight.3 -
A confidence player who we saw under Appleton had his confidence destroyed by bad management. Now being booed by his own fans. At one stage he did not go for the ball because he was coming back from an offside position, but still got booed.Weegie Addick said:

"The bloke behind me" only know one players name ... TC or Campbell, every other player who makes a mistake gets a free ride.
I agree bullying territory.6 -

The trouble is, he could create chances all day long, but they won't turn into assists if the players that get on the end of them aren't any good at finishing. It's a whole team issue, not just a TC issue.MartinCAFC said:
At the end of the day if there’s no end product then all the pace and skill in the world doesn’t count for anything.NabySarr said:
If you can find a player with TCs pace and dribbling 1v1 ability, that can also cover 10-12km a game if needed, and also has end product, then you’d probably need at least £10m to buy him so good luckMartinCAFC said:End of the day not even based on just today but over the course of the season he's not good enough if we want to rise any higher than 18th in the table. TC has attributes that are very rare, and not easy to replace. The club will rightly go with the approach of continuing to work with TC to turn him into that player, if the fans don’t abuse him into wanting to leave that is
He clearly has both which is the most frustrating thing of all, he just doesn’t believe it in himself. He did it for the last 20 mins or so yesterday where he showed he can have end product but we’re not seeing him deliver and seeing it turn into more goals and assists is the only way.10 -
I can kind of understand what NJ is saying. We have played 3/4 of the season, in a certain way, that has most likely earned us another season in the Championship.
Despite his lack of end product, and being extremely frustrating, TC has made a big contribution to that.
NJ's recent comments that he likes to persevere with certain players, and that he thinks we need another 2 or 3 players like TC, suggests to me that he knows TC's limitations, but has no other options ATM other than to keep playing TC.
That hopefully means that we may be looking forward to some better, and more exciting football next season if we can get the recruitment right.
But I'm still baffled why he hasn't utilised JRC and Fullah more in order to be more creative ?
I can only think that he hasn't wanted to compromise the solidity of the midfield, a safety first approach!

TC's attacking dribble and cross for Doc and Clarke were excellent weren't they?
Doc needed to take that first time and Clarke, well good clearance into the Covered end.2 -
I just don't think he fits in our system and that's not his fault.
At some points in the first half he could have held hands with Chambers on the left. It's a shame we don't have another TC style player to play on the other side when we're chasing the game because I think that would be a pretty good attack.
He doesn't look like he's enjoying being out there at the moment, it's remarkable that someone with what seems to be a crippling level of shyness has made it this far in the game and perhaps says something about the talent he has.
I had a moan when I saw his name on the team sheet because I think Kelman deserves a run and TC needs to be taken out of the firing line.
People booing him are just morons.0 -
Wonder if we can get a player swap for Lookman... He seems to be doing alright right now.3
