Sussex finish on 264-9
One player who was drafted in late was left-arm spinner and batter Ollie Butterfill who returned 6-1-19-1. I've mentioned him previously but, for those who missed what I said previously, he's an 18 year-old academy scholar and the son of Bromley CC captain, James.
Seb is good friends with him and has spent all winter coaching with both Ollie and James the Kent Regional sides. To say Ollie hasn't had it easy is a bit of an understatement. At the age of 14 Ollie suffered a cardiac arrest following an extremely rare complication during a routine heart operation. Thanks to the skills and expertise of the medical staff performing CPR and using a defibrillator, the doctors managed to save him. Thankfully he's over that now and just has regular check ups.
Ollie is a talent with both bat and ball and if anyone deserves to make it, after all he's been through and the effort he's shown to get where he is, he does.8 -
Rather like Kent’s innings, most ‘wickets’ were retired out. Look like batting practice judging from the scorecard and ‘looseners’ for the bowlers.Addick Addict said:Sussex finish on 264-9

I'm not sure I quite understand why we only have one other warm-up game between now and the start of the season? Our three-day match against Oxford UCCE runs from next Saturday-Monday but surely we could have arranged another two/three day match in the next seven days? Last season we had Sussex (23rd-24th), Essex (27th-28th) and then Loughborough UCCE (30th, 31st & 1st).0

Essex have been in South Africa for last two weeks. Lost to Loughborough by 100 odd runs earlier in week
chose a good year to change from their usual UAE pre-season1 -
Kent are actually a behind closed doors practice game against Surrey this week.Addick Addict said:I'm not sure I quite understand why we only have one other warm-up game between now and the start of the season? Scorecard and highlights from today's play vs Surrey below.
Main things of note - Quinn getting the wickets of both Burns and Smith and Jas bowling Lawrence with a beauty. Not so good from Kent in reply at 90-5 with Northeast the only standout with 44. Crawley was out for a six-ball duck.

Quinn and Cohen both playing against Surrey. I wonder how long it will be before one gets a season ending injury...0

Seven seamers used in all with all of them, more or less, on the money. Wickets to Milnes, Evison and Cohen.

Seven of the nine bowlers picked up at least one wicket. For Oxford, former Kent age group and current Bromley CC player, Aditya Kumar top scored with 40 (65). Another ex-age group player, Max Wood (Lordswood CC) was left stranded on 17* (46).1 -

Finch did take a catch at slip so is obviously fit.Addick Addict said:Oxford 71-3 (28) at lunch

An all too brief visit to St Lawrence today after a Palm Sunday service in Canterbury - congratulated Evison on a wicket maiden and thought Cohen looked nippy. Well done to the spectators in the ground - it was bitterly cold2

Loughborough UCCE are 182-2 against Gloucestershire. Ben Dawkins is on 117* (139).
Injuries apart, I think that that there is going to be a lot of competition for places in the first team especially in the batting.4 -

Bring it on !1 -
Match drawn. Finch didn't bat in either innings so must be carrying some sort of injury even though he fielded but didn't keep. Benjamin scored another 50.0

Plenty of options in front of him for Kent and Tunbridge Wells.wmcf123 said:

He just doesn't get to keep for any team he plays for - not even Kent 2s. He's also an opener and you don't see many keepers as tall as he is - approximately 6' 5". All of that said, for say the shortest form of the game, where the ball doesn't come through that often he could probably do the job.wmcf123 said:

Crouching down to keep would be terrible for his back!Addick Addict said:

He needs to bowl some offspin. England love tall spin bowlers

Replacement players will be allowed in county cricket in England and Wales this season and, for the first time, will cover illness and significant life events as well as injuries.
The season-long trial means players will be able to be replaced with a fully participating player for the first time, rather than just a substitute fielder as is currently the case.
The significant life events will include circumstances such as players leaving to attend the birth of their child or the illness of a family member.
Players leaving a game due to one of the above will not be allowed to return for the rest of the fixture in question.
