But it leaves a real gap down our left, which opponents are exploiting.fenaddick said:

And our 4 attackers just got in each other's way.
Plus it left us so vulnerable to the counter attack, a better team would have finished us off with 15 to go. It felt like the desperation tactics you used in added time, not when you have plenty of time to go.
I was really surprised TC was replaced with Leaburn, as it took any the only player with some pace.
And why isn't Chambers playing wide like a normal wingback? Instead he's sitting on midfield, pinging it around, but providing little width. Or defensive cover down his side.
Who defends attacks down our left? It should be the wing back plus TC or Bell, instead nobody seems to know their roles.0 -
My kids couldn't make it today, at 20 minutes in I texted my eldest to say that they were missing a great game.
Probably the most Muppet thing to say.
We are just slow and unimaginative. Nearly every team I've seen us play again at this season look so much sharper than us - even the bad teams.
I knew this season was going to be grind, and I don't mind losing, I was expecting a shit season but grinding out enough to stay up - but I fear we have almost given up.4 -
Maybe you should do the team talk , cos it’s all our fault and not the players who have lost 5/6 at home right ?Off_it said:That's it then. Blown it. We're down. We're not going to get another point all season, whilst a couple of the teams below us are already "safe". White flags going up all over the show.
At least that's what I'm reading on this thread. But then I look at the table and wonder if any of the teams below us would love to swap places with us still ....... hmmm.
Grow some bollocks you ridiculously weak and spineless bunch.1 -
Well Chambers needs to be quicker getting back out wide. Bell looks knackered too which doesn’t help. It does show how much defensive work on the left Doc usually does tookillerandflash said:

Thanks. That has really cheered me up!MrBurns said:
Oxford have Wednesday to play and Millwall last game of the season. If Millwall have playoffs secured they will rest players for that gameCharlton and on said:4 to go, 5 above the drop. Highly unlikely Oxford win 50% of their games. Even more unlikely that Leicester win 75%.
We should still get a couple more points too. You get points in unexpected places in football and sometimes lose when you thought you might win.
I hope the players have more character than the bed wetters on here.
All we can hope is Millwall want to go into the play-offs in good form and so do put out a strong team and try to get a result.0 -

Assuming Portsmouth lose to Ipswich, wouldn't it be better for Leicester to win their game at Portsmouth?golfaddick said:
Pompey play Leicester next week when we play Sheff Wed. They also play their game in hand (against Ipswich) this coming Tuesday.ForeverAddickted said:mendonca said:We'll be okay, have you seen Portsmouth's run-in?
😮Beating Middlesbrough isn't the end of the world, given how they've fallen off a cliff with their promotion pushBut just need to hope that this is more of a flash in the pan for Portsmouth rather than rejuvination
If we lose next Sat just hope to God that Pompey dont beat Leicester otherwise we will be in big trouble.
And Oxford's last 2 matches are against Sheff Wed & Millwall.
We still need 3 teams to finish below us.1 -
They beat Watford today, Pompey won at Boro. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that Oxford could beat one of Derby, Wrexham or Millwall especially if the latter are already confirmed in the play offs and rest players or don't bust a gut. I don't think it's likely and I think we will be ok but I certainly wouldn't rule anything out.fenaddick said:

A hard fought but scrappy game that could have gone either way. It went their way because they had more speed and skill up front. In fact, if they'd taken their chances it could have been by a bigger margin. I think their second goal is really instructive as to where most of the teams in this league are better than us. We give the ball away sloppily and they have two or three players haring up the pitch. Not only do they end up with a capable goalscorer up the pitch, but they have options as well. When we inherit the ball like that it either goes to a slow coach who gets caught, or it goes to Campbell who can't shoot and gets isolated. If we survive this season, we badly need an injection of skill and pace up front.4

What a bizarre and pretty pointless comment. Every chance they could beat one of those. Pompey won at Boro today and Barnsley relegated us winning at 2nd placed Brentford in 2020.fenaddick said:

Without doubt one of the most disappointing games of the season, we could have been 3 up by the time we scored our first- but we weren't and our lack of goalscoring nous cost us massively in the end. Unlike Norwich who were a good side Preston were average and were there for the taking- and we didn't that's very concerning.
The team have to battle their arses off and give everything in those remaining 4 games- I won't hear of the R word!2 -

Again, I’m just curious about the answer. I am not saying it won’t happen. I think they could probably sneak a result at Derbypaulsturgess said:

Godden should have started with dykes
fevrier impressed
carey should have come off earlier for maybe fullah
doc was our best player
agreed with all that say we should start more attacking, although we did look open towards the end
think we were a bit unlucky not to get a draw3 -
Even if they did. I assume we will get at least two points from the next four games.Fortune 82nd Minute said:

Find it difficult to believe that Wednesday are a given for Oxford but not us. Could argue Swansea will be on the beach and Hull resting players for the play offs.
None of us know but it seems the doom has set in when we've still got six teams below us.4 -
Will try and analyse in more detail later but zero points at home against Preston, Bristol C, Norwich and Wrexham is completely inexcusable at this point in the season.Even I didn’t predict that and I’m always on the more negative side.
I’m sticking to what I have consistently said for weeks that we will roll over at Sheff Weds.
And with the gap now down to 5 points, and with the three games to come, by default I have to say we are bang in trouble.
Its those 4 home games that are pivotal to this mess for me9 -

Just like in 19/20 a promotion chasing team will hand a relegation threatened team all 3 points. Even more so because its Millwall & they would love to send us down.

Note that I said I think we will be ok and I would'nt rule out us getting a win against Ipswich, Hull or Swansea but current form suggests otherwise. Hopefully we will win at Hillsborough and we can all take a deep breath and relax but until we pick up some more points then we are definitely looking over and shoulder and praying.ForeverAddickted said:LargeAddick said:

If Coady is back available next week....is Nathan going to go back to defensive play and hope for a break or go for it like we did in the first 20 today.... I haven't got a scooby but we have to get something next week.1
