Oddly enough if we go to Weds and try and play more expansive to take into account their league position that’s what I think will do us in as we don’t have the quality to do that.

We absolutely have to get a point at the very least and it seems crazy to say this - but we almost need to go there and set up to be solid first and foremost and be set up to play on the break.

We should absolutely be able to keep a clean sheet. I would play get Coady in alongside Doc…. Dykes looked leggy today for me. So Leaburn / Kelman has to be worth a go.

And potentially give Burke a crack alongside Jones as I think Lloyd is being put under too much pressure with just Ramsay and Bell alongside as neither are dominant enough in the air.

        Ramsay Burke Jones Bell Chambers

                        Coady Docherty

                Campbell  Carey  Fevrier

                                Leaburn

We could get relegated, so we must get that one win.

We should have won today - after going in front, we stepped back and allowed them to control the game until the last 15 mad minutes where we threw the kitchen sink at them.

Even if we do survive (which I'm praying we do) it feels like we need 7/8 championship  quality players through the door. The ownership will need spend big again or hope we get a ridiculous offer for Ramsay to fund the window

On todays showing cant see anyone coming in for Ramsay

That's it then. Blown it. We're down. We're not going to get another point all season, whilst a couple of the teams below us are already "safe". White flags going up all over the show.

At least that's what I'm reading on this thread. But then I look at the table and wonder if any of the teams below us would love to swap places with us still ....... hmmm.

Grow some bollocks you ridiculously weak and spineless bunch.
Spot on. Wouldn't want to be in the trenches with some on here. White flag up already.

Thankfully our players and manager have a lot more grit and fight.

We'll be fine. Disappointing result today but nowhere near a hiding or relegation signalling performance.

We're 5 points above relegation zone. Wouldn't swap places with anyone below us.

Was always gonna be a tough frustrating season and fact we're still 5 points above relegation zone with it all in our own hands in a good place to be.

Certainly lots of permutations but get something against Sheffield and I think the other teams will just run out of games.

Ipswich could be promoted time we play them and Hull could be guaranteed the playoffs... Who's to say we couldn't get some points... Nobody saw us getting anything at Ipswich or Biro but we did.

We all support an amazing team but they are seriously unpredictable and extremely frustrating but if we survive then the Board will hopefully realise that you cannot survive the Championship on the cheap. Look at the teams that have gone before us... It's probably the toughest league and it will bite you if you take it for granted.

So complacent. There’s a very good chance we will sleepwalk to relegation - massive pressure game next week before two home games we will almost certainly lose based on our current home form. Making an enormous pigs ear of this ‘one more win’ business. We have to win next week, and will be in a dire situation if we don’t

I think the end of this season has shown none of our players would have Champ teams knocking down their door if we got relegated.

And even if we did, we aren’t getting big money for any of them.

Ramsay lacks too much in terms of ability on the ball.

Haven't seen many putting up the white flag but seen a lot saying we are bang back in trouble, which we are. Yes we are five points clear but a week ago it was nine. At what point do we start worrying please? As I've said earlier this thread I think we will be ok but if we lose at Wednesday with two tricky home games to come, and our recent home record over six games doesn't inspire confidence, then going to Swansea needing to win isn't something to look forward to.

Just know after the last few weeks of shit at home, we'll beat Ipswich to send the scum up
Know what? I wouldn't even be overly concerned at that so long as we get 3 points and stay up! Never thought I would say that - sorry everyone.........

Nathan Jones admitted Charlton’s lack of “killer instinct” is a major concern after they lost 2-1 to Preston at The Valley

Yet you leave two goalscorers in the bench !!!

If Godden and Kelman been on from the start we would have won that game
    Didn't Godden come on ?

Everyone saying we will be ok and wouldn’t want to be in the trenches with people on here etc….Did you watch that final Brentford v Barnsley game in 2019/2020 season ? I will forever have PTSD about that….its Charlton and can happen again so don’t know how folks can be so passive…a bit like our team at the moment

Didn’t see any evidence of it today. Only saw fight from the team supposedly already on the beach - Preston.

I don't think Ipswich will be promoted by the time they play us, might be if they beat us that night, nor Hull guaranteed a play off spot either.

Chef Wendy will win next week, you mark my words. We are total garbage at the moment. We can’t buy a goal, we can’t buy a win. First half .. we got into so many good positions but the balls into the box were dogshit. We persisted with lumping the ball upfield and Dykes did not win a single header all game. What were the odds on relegation? 200/1 .. they look pretty good at the minute what with Portsmouth and Oxford winning today. Am I angry … you bet I am 🤬🤬🤬🤬

I don't think it is an exact science when predicting our rival results, as Portsmouth and Oxford have proved. I am more concerned about the lack of quality and maybe the desire of some of our squad. In terms of our lack of quality, the midfield has been chopped and changed through the season and the same was true today. Nobody will convince me that Rankin-Costello is a good signing and despite his goal today he doesn't give the impression that he is one to turn the game, he has a nice touch and his passing is reasonable but he doesn't dominate the midfield. The loss of Clarke was a big blow, as we rely so much on the wing backs but I also believe that there isn't a poster on here that knows our best forward line, and we have plenty of forwards. As for our desire, look at our last three home games, the first half displays were awful, today was slightly different with a very good first twenty minutes and then back to poor decision making and lack lustre marking. We could go down and that shouldn't been the case four games ago, we now need to get something out of our next four games and please don't think we will get something at Sheff Wed, they seem to be playing with pride, despite their position, pride is something amongst other things that is sorely missing from Charlton's recent performances.

Sheff Wendy will be the game which decides where we play next season. Today was one to forget, we should have won that in the first half but if your strikers can’t hit a barn door there’s a big problem.
If we stay up it will be interesting who stays and what type of player comes in.

Just listened to Nathan's comments... I really think he wanted to let rip with volley of naughty words but clearly held back but at least he's finally come out and said that we need that win...It's actually the first bit of urgency that has come across from him.

We can only hope that the players work rate will match Nathan's desire in the remaining 4 games.

I'm expecting (probably a mistake) to see a positive reaction next week and so there should be.... It's been pedestrian for weeks with 10-20 minutes spells only and that's on the players.

I thought the difference was Preston were relaxed, can’t go down -can’t go up, and we were anxious. Which meant we were clutching at straws.

That was dreadful after going a goal up,  it's getting very difficult to be positive when opposing teams repeatedly play better football.

We need to ideally get 3 more points across the next 4 games to be sure of survival. Next game we play the worst team around and it’s away from home where we’re weirdly good. Even within that we’re 5 points clear so mainly we’re looking at Oxford not going on an insane winning run in their last 4 games. It would be nice to have been safe by now but we still have work to do. The positive is some of the panicked reactions on here are genuinely hilariously entertaining. Real lack of fortitude from some fans, back the team and see the season out, all these posts about how we’re definitely going down do not reflect well.
A team that drew 0-0 with Coventry, and you think we can do better.
Remind me, what happened when we played Coventry?

    PWR.

Needed something from that match. Cushion down to 5 points. We need at least one more win. Maybe two.
