I can also contribute as I missed Godden's goal (the only one I haven't seen all season) as a 6 and a 1/2 foot tall guy decided that the best place to stand in the second half wasn't the seat where he sat in the first half, but on the stairs right in front of my seat. With all his swaying, it was impossible to find the right gap to see the goal.BarnehurstBob said:Can I add to what is a moan zone tonight. Why do people buy tickets in the first row and then stand? The match hardly got us off our seats anyway. We were second row by choice, but another irritant on a low day. Good night
Typically, he didn't block anything else as he spent the remaining 40+ minutes with his head down glued to his phone for the entire match. I have to wonder why he even attended.2 -
Millwall will 1) want a home second leg 2) dodge Southamptonmogodon said:

I don’t expect 11 signings like last summer, but I do worry that too many of this team will still be in and around the starting XI come next season.
None of Burke, Gillesphey, Docherty, Coventry, Carey, JRC, Knibbs, Kelman, Leaburn and TC are good enough to consistently start next season, that’s a lot of players that either need to be moved on to free up space for better, or, at best, be used sparingly as squad players.
I don’t think Oxford will all 3 of their remaining games, 7 points will also be a push, given Wrexham are right back in the play off picture after Hull slipped up today, and Millwall may go to Oxford with a faint of hope of second, but at the very least will want to finish positively going into the play offs.
It’s up to Jones to motivate them to work hard for the last 3 games. We are incapable of beating teams taking the game to them and are so poor with the ball, that he needs to focus on us being hard to beat, organised and hopefully get 2 points out the next three. That should be enough. Given how limited we are on the ball, that’s how I think we need to approach these final three games.3 -
They were without the excellent Ingelsson who would have dominated the midfield. Not that we have anything left to be dominated.
A player we should eye up if we stay up.2 -
As for Oxford suddenly going on a play off level run, this is a team who in a must win at Derby, didn’t have a shot on target. Suspect Wrexham will get something

Thank goodness for points deductions this season, it gives us a chance to stay up. Yes, it's not as straightforward as that, but it's helped for sure.
Fingers crossed that we stay up, and can strengthen over the summer.3 -
I doubt they’ll be thinking about us on the final day and if you look at us as an example, in all the years we’ve got into the playoffs, I don’t remember us resting players, even when we were comfortably across the line, 97/98, 18/19 and last season.mogodon said:

I’m sure Millwall would love to see us go down, but that’s not going to factor into their team selection on the final day. They will still have a tough game as Oxford may have got themselves back into contention.
Let’s hope we’ve managed to get over the line by the final day5 -
Call it nerves or being told to play this way that game was an insult to every paying fan up there.... It was beyond dreadful.
Everyone here watching including my better half who doesn't like the game said we were dicing with death and the subs should have been on 10 minutes before.
The anger and sheer frustration we've all felt over the last few weeks just won't let go.
I love the club but when some players play like they did then I could care less....to be honest some of them certainly appeared to not give a damn. Jones, Bell, Godden were the exception.
Of course we can still be relegated and on the last few performances you could say it's fully deserved.
If however, we survive through a ugly draw or other results or points reductions etc. then the real worry going forward for all of us is that without significant spending on quality then it will end up being another season like this.
That is not a comforting thought.9 -
I know that there have been a lot, but that was one of the hardest watches of the season.
Dreadful performance.
So much for unleashing TC when they were tired.1 -
def feels like a loss6
-
As long as we stay up I don't care.... BUT Jones has to address this squad. It really does say something when Matty Godden our 34 year old veteran forward who's had his knee re-shaped and been out all season is our best chance of a goal.5

The defensive mindset that draws teams on to us as we retreat further and further must come from NJ.3
-
Regardless of potential signings, Jones is unlikely to change his style so if we do survive we can expect similar performances next season. He is out of his depth at this level and his track record proves it.10
-
Christ we are shit, another negative selection/formation from Jones. If we do fuck this up he has to go imho.5

Charlton are difficult to watch and follow as a team at times.First half there was a huge gap between midfield and the forward line. Charlton had no sustained amount of possession and passing. The clumsy challenge by Burke, looked like a penalty, and Sheff Weds had a poor attack.Godden clever shot onto the bar, the best thing. I would be happy to see Godden get an extension to his contract for next season.2nd half Godden scored a great poachers goal. Carey's been poor lately, but all that would have been forgiven if he had put away his chance for a 2nd Charlton goal. Sheff Weds were not going to score 2. Sub for Sichenje for Burke was OK. But the last subs were way too late and that allowed Weds to get a passage of pressure, with Charlton sitting too deep. Mannion should have punched but he dropped the ball and we conceeded a soft goal.It is frustrating as 3 points would have seen us safe. The suffering goes on a bit longer. I am hoping we can scrape over the line. Not enjoying the suffering that comes with supporting Charlton currently.Midfield needs some serious work next season whatever division we find ourselvers in.6

just went on the players marks thread. Thought it was only Wednesday that got negative points4

The rest of your post is spent pointing out some of our weaknesses. What then give you such an expectation?SDAddick said:That's probably us safe but man, what a deflating watch.
I don't expect us to keep the ball well but I do expect us to press and defend well. And today we really didn't. We sat deeper and deeper after the goal and it meant that one mistake let them back into it.
We're not fun to watch. We probably never will be under Jones. But we need to, cliche alert incoming, do the basics right more often and more better.
Controversial opinion though, given how they play this is a tough match up for us. We are better against sides that dominate the ball. Sheff Wed did that today in part because we let them, we needed to have it so we could hit them on the counter. And it worked until it didn't.
I expect we'll get another point against Ipswich or Hull. And then we can talk about summer business that needs to be done, but we are limping toward the finish line.1 -
Said this a few weeks back, how many of last summers signing have been a success ? FFS two of them are already back in the third division sitting on the bench getting splinters in their arses. Go back a bit further, Ahadme ? Seriously ??? I called him out before we even signed him, when he was just a rumour !!! Is there one signing that Jones has made that has really been a success in the second division ?wolfgang said:
Why?NorthStandMillz said:Awful. If we stay up we have to give Jones another season ...
Need to spend 10-12 million quid to have a realistic chance of staying up next season, and then far from guaranteed.
After our pathetic summer buys last year, would the owners trust Jones with their money? I would not.
10-12 Million will just buy us relegation. We need at a minimum 1 quality championship striker + a new midfield & I don't think our owners are going to cough up what is actually needed. Plus I wonder what bullshit is Rodwell feeding the owners re what is needed ?7 -

It not about money alone.0 -
Bell and Carey is the answer to that
Godden instead of Kellman this season might have nicked a few more points at a push but the signings have been awful

I don’t mind 5-3-2 but when you don’t have the proper players for it it’s really not effective at all and I don’t think a majority of the players we brought in suit it to be honest. If we stay up Jones has to learn to adapt or we need to recruit better players to play the way he wants to otherwise it’s going to be a painful watch next season.2
-
All the way to Sheffield to watch Shite.
wednesday were the better team in the first half and were robbed as they should have had a stone wall penalty.
we should have scored twice in the second half if our idiot striker knew how to place the ball properly.
awful performance and look like a poor league one side.
unless we spend money we will certainly go down next season.
number 32 Burke is one of the worst footballers in the history of the game.
absolute shite !!!0 -

Genuine question mate. I like you by the sound of it want our youngsters to succeed but being honest have you seen anything this season which makes you think he is a championship footballer? For a big strong lad he seems to get bullied a lot. He hasn’t shown any real ability to hold the ball up and well he hasn’t shown any exactly scored loads. He might come good who knows but so far he wouldn’t feature in any other championship teams imoBolderhumphreyreid said:

Your last paragraph is what I am fearing. It was only a couple of months ago they were looking for extra funding. If that hasn't materialised come June are they going to put more of their money in......and even if they have it do they trust Jones et al to spend it properly. ? As you say, the track record on signings is not very good (and that's being kind) and really we need a complete overhaul on the summer.charltonbob said:
