Starting to look like we will be relying on the EFL to hit West Brom with that points deduction given our last 3 games won’t be easy. Even then it might be tight if the remaining teams below us win a couple of games. Either way, only staying up if it does end up with 3 teams hit with points deductions needs to have some serious questions raised.

If Oxford beat Wrexham on Tuesday night you wouldn't bet against them to beat Sheff Wed next sat. If that is the case we need to get something from our next 2 homes games.

Really don't want to go to Swansea (who have the league's top goalscorer) and try to get something there.
The Oxford v Wrexham game is huge. Thankfully Wrexham still have something to play for.
  • Unless we have a considerable improvement in incoming talent and play a decent style of football we're going down next year.
  • Please make it stop.

Are they already on the beach?  Because I fucking well wish I was.

Kaminski at Stoke, Portsmouth away and home.
Mannion today and at home to Bristol City

    Actual gifting of points.

Really poor today Will. You obviously don't need a cap in the sun, so catch the bloomin' ball or punch it to safety.

We all chose a team (some had it forced on them - sorry sons) where fame and glory were going to be in very short supply. But... how fucking bad are we?

There should be an element of enjoyment, surely? Look around the squad and nobody seems to be enjoying playing football - very few smiles, body language says to me "I hate this game" when they are playing, PLAYING, and for a good living as well. Jones seems to me to spend 90 minutes or more a week self-flagellating.

Supporting Charlton at the moment (and for some time) is utterly joyless, and I am getting more and more wound up by it.
This sums up my feelings exactly and it is not based on the result today as I’m actually surprised that we got a point. The brand of football we are being dished out is terrible and unfortunately I’m not one of those that say the results trump performance! Agree the players look down. Football is supposed to be entertaining and even though you can’t argue that this season is a success if we stay up if next season is the same dross I’m not sure I can keep watching it. Setting out to try and grind out as many 1-0 victories as possible is not attractive to watch. I hoping the window will bring us a good few players that want to play football but if all we do is sign a better class of attritional players I will be losing interest rapidly

    Where to start?

Yes we were minutes away from being essentially safe. And yes we fucked it up. But where does that leave us over the next few weeks?

    1) The next two fixtures are, for me, the worst type of fixtures we could have. At home, where we have struggled massively. And versus two teams that are in the middle of a fight for promotion at the top. If we couldnt even get a point against two teams on the beach that isnt good.

    2) Goal difference could come in to this. And I would argue that with our next two games, we have more potential than any of our relegation rivals to take a big hit to this. Either way - its effectively worth a point.

    3) The lack of motivation and basic desire to fight our way out of this is very sad to see. What's happened since Boro away? It just doesn't make sense - we look like we are on the beach.

    4) Time for TK to come back in goal. Mannions strength has always been claiming crosses and thats gonna hit his confidence. TK back for the last 3.

    5) Blackburn away at Stoke who are already on holiday is a banker 3 points to Rovers. The real big one is Oxford v Wrexham. I am not hear to argue people who say we are safe here (we can all have an opinion) but if they beat Wrexham and we lose to Ipswich we are in the proper shit.
  • Does anyone actually genuinely enjoy watching us play currently?

This is the biggest issue going into next season, even if we do stay up. It's a style of play issue.
Couldn’t give a toss how we play as long as we win games. Middlesbrough away was my favourite game for a while… problem is we don’t win many games!

Even if Oxford lose to Wrexham, odds are they'll beat Wednesday, so its going to the final day if we don’t pick up anything in those 2 games

That's the most annoyed I've been this season. I honestly sort of expected a daft result like that but not a performance so spineless. We didn't get at them, we didn't make it difficult, we played against them exactly the way we played against Chelsea, which was allowing them as much of the ball as they wanted and trying to get something off a set piece. Against Sheffield Wednesday. At Hillsborough. This team is absolutely cooked at the moment; can't win a game without a clean sheet and can't keep a clean sheet.

The good thing for us was Wednesday never looked like scoring all game despite us treating them like Champions League winners. The good thing for them was that Will Mannion now has a sideline in losing his goddamn mind for no reason. Kaminski made mistakes, I can just about tolerate goofing a shot but Mannion has now made two errors (because we treat his triple compound error against Bristol City as one, for which he should thank us) that weren't even realistic chances for the opposition. When he gets it wrong he acts as a playmaker for the opposition. Dropping a soft catch like that in his own box for an open goal is just ridiculous, especially against a team who otherwise wouldn't have got near scoring. We can't score two goals, if you do something that Wile E Coyote would cringe at you're guaranteeing dropped points as well as catches.

On the subject of players who are good at exactly one thing and then decide to not even bother doing that, Sonny Carey. Useless again, recently he contributes nothing in the press, nothing on the ball, nothing defensively. What he has going for him though is if you have the ball drop to him in a good area and there's not an opposition ankle directly in front of him he's an assassin. He got the ball, took a bit of a heavy touch but the Wednesday creche backed off giving him the chance to get the ball out from his feet and shoot from a perfect area. He hit the post. That was our chance for 2-0 and he didn't do the only thing he can justify being in the team for. Absolutely infuriating, probably what scrambled Mannion's brain.

It's frustrating watching this team make a mess everywhere but as miserable as it was it didn't really matter today, we just needed to get the three points. Get a goal, be organised and ideally get a second, If you can't, at least keep a clean sheet against a team of players who will not look at all out of place in League One next season. But no, apart from a couple of aimless balls in injury time and a Harry Clarke run ending in a Harry Clarke hate crime over the bar we didn't even build momentum against Wednesday once they equalised and we should have been pushing for the win. I think Jones made mistakes today, they were building after 60 minutes and we needed to change the front two and haul Carey off to The Hague but we kept it the same and only reacted after they'd scored. I don't get it, the game was crying out for players like JRC, Leaburn and TC to punish a tired and fragile team. I can normally see the positives, I'm glad we've broken the 50 point barrier, but today I am royally pissed off.

The Jones out lot are a joke. He's might keep us up with the 2nd lowest budget, who exactly do you want in?
This is the thing. He’s using attritional football to keep us up because we lack quality. See how we get on next year after we *hopefully* add quality

I honestly thought their goal was a foul on Mannion but the replay put me right. Wednesday were pretty poor overall but we were not much better at all. Some really poor performances. I thought Sichenje did okay. Godden goes without saying (a lot of offside, although that may be due to how achingly slow we are getting the ball forward. Frankly even so we should have won but as ever, one goal is our limit. Really Im annoyed as we should have closed that out. Bollox

Special mention to Leaburn who came on and looked like he'd struggle in the national league
Difference between him and dykes was clear. Long ball and Leaburn does all the action as if he will get the knock on and pulls out most of the time. Dykes gets the knock on and competes.

All week people were saying we would lose given Sheff record .. but we got the point we needed for safety snd it would have been 3 if it was not for rush of blood by Mannion … not much you can do as a manager about that .. you can’t plan or train for your keeper making such a poor decision…

again think the subs affected us .. if you take Godden off surely Kelman has to  come on ?? but Sheff played a good stuff just had no end product which makes it more frustrating why Mannion done ..

but credit to NJ and the boys for staying in the championship that was the aim no matter how we did it ..

There will be three teams coming up like we were this season .. we know how tough it is , we had it more difficult cause the two teams that come up trying to buy the league so that makes our archivement massive

Dreadful. The worst thing is, we didn’t deserve to win that game. Is there a worse team in possession than us in this league? I can’t watch another year of this whatever happens. No plan, no speed, no urgency.

I know Jones had the subs prepped before the equaliser but I’m not sure he should have taken Dykes AND Godden off.

Mannion seemed to think he was fouled for the goal, I didn’t see anything in it, replays may say different. Either way, we get what we deserve for not even trying to kill that game off. Same old.

    We are not safe.

Carey's shot that hit the post wasn't a wonder strike. It should have been passed into the net with ease.

That was very disappointing to watch. We could and should have won. We had the chances and when we did go 1 up we could and should have scored a second. We came close but then we just invited Wednesday to come and have a go. Their goal was yet another horrible show from our keeper who flapped and failed to hold a ball that was bread and butter to any keeper in any league.
We played a team that were dead and buried months ago, a team full of young players and players who would struggle to get in any another clubs squad in this league but we handed them a point. We could have been all but safe if we had taken advantage of their lack of quality but now we have really put ourselves in a ridiculous position.
We ain’t getting anything from Ipswich, Hull will be extremely tough and it could all hinge on our last game away to Swansea. Hopefully West Brom will get a deduction and Oxford will do a favour and lose a couple.
Today might be the game where we look back at our keeper having a steady game and making the one mistake that costs us dearly.

Since 21st October when we beat Ipswich, we’ve scored more than 1 goal twice and in one of those Leicester had a red card after 15 minutes.

    That is genuinely pathetic.

I was 💯 for Jones’s appointment and remain behind him because it seems that we will stay up. But that stat above is not sustainable or acceptable.
