That's probably us safe but man, what a deflating watch.

I don't expect us to keep the ball well but I do expect us to press and defend well. And today we really didn't. We sat deeper and deeper after the goal and it meant that one mistake let them back into it.

We're not fun to watch. We probably never will be under Jones. But we need to, cliche alert incoming, do the basics right more often and more better.

Controversial opinion though, given how they play this is a tough match up for us. We are better against sides that dominate the ball. Sheff Wed did that today in part because we let them, we needed to have it so we could hit them on the counter. And it worked until it didn't.

I expect we'll get another point against Ipswich or Hull. And then we can talk about summer business that needs to be done, but we are limping toward the finish line.

Positives - 6 clear with 3 games to go. 7 unbeaten away from home

Negatives - Another chance missed to win after taking the lead. Mannion again costing us goals. That 3 since he has come back into the team. TK has to start on Weds.

We need MAJOR invest into attacking players over the summer!!!

Nathan Jones doesn't do attacking players he wants hard working defensive minded players

It’s a good thing that we’ll know the Oxford & West Brom results the day before our game against Ipswich at least

Never thought we were going down and still don't but that was a pretty shit performance. Sign Godden up for another year, rare for us to have a player with some genuine ability.

    Our attacking ‘threat’ is laughable.

That performance as a whole was nothing short of horse shit.

We win games when we work hard, press teams and use set plays well. We did none of those things today.

Weds looked shaky passing out from the keeper and we don’t think it’s an idea to apply some pressure to them while they do it.

Groundhog Day week after week. Gift the opposition a goal via a schoolboy mistake, constantly turn the ball over cheaply, non existent midfield and the rare event that is us taking lead is followed by defending deep and showing very little intent to score a second.

Don’t believe we will win again this season.

Big changes needed in the summer as I am not sure I can face watching another season of this dross.

We didn't lose. That's the only positive I can take from that.

Jesus feckin christ we are shite.

I've got nothing more to add, except to reiterate we are feckin shite.

Luckily they still need a win to keep up the chase on Hull for 6th but yeah not a side I want to be relying on for a result 😬

Even if we stay up I think its time for Jones to go.

Do we really want to be watching this rubbish again next season ?  A team that has no creativity & very little goal threat. Only 5 times this season have we scored more than once in a game. Atrocious.

Only good thing to come out of today was that Oxford lost & Bromley got promoted.
  • Gonna keep drumming it till it happens (wishful thinking) JONES OUT!

That was absolutely rancid. We have been effing dreadful pretty much the entire season.

The results in this second half of this season that have us almost at (but staggering in drunken stasis towards) the line were gifts; that Sheffield united burglary remains one of the most obscenely fortunate results I’ve ever seen - the sending off against Leicester… profligate Boro with a record number of chances in championship history but unable to get past us… the Leicester points deduction…

    Ergh

and now we’re inevitably going to be forced to cheer on and indeed celebrate the scum probably getting promoted on the last day because the consequence of them not doing so would be relegating us. A vile thought
You're ruling out them rolling over for Oxford on the final day then?
As we lose to Swansea and swap places...
  • I wonder what our owners think. If it's simply 'Project first season - Stay up!' then we are getting closer to the target, but my god this football is an awful watch.

As many have said this season, even the wins don't cheer the soul that much. Watching is so tough with how poor we play. There has to be a better style of football (on the eye) that can achieve the same set of results (or better).

Big question. Could these same players, play a more exciting, successful formula, than how Jones sets them up?

If not, then it's on the owners to dig deep into their pockets and give Jones a bigger budget (and hope he doesn't buy crap players, again).
  • I’m a massive NJ fan, for all he’s done for us last and this season, despite having the third worst budget in the league, but he got the subs wrong today. Godden was blowing out of his arse from 65mins and suddenly we had no outlet. Cue massive pressure from the Wendy’s and we couldn’t get out of our third. Wave after wave of attack, you could see a goal was coming, yet we didn’t make the changes until after the goal went in. Absolute madness!
  • Big fan of Mannion but not going to try and defend him tonight. Awful mistake.

But it's not just on him. After we scored and Carey hit the post we just sat back and made Wednesday look like a team challenging for promotion. Their goal was always coming. Why, oh why, do we always sit back and concede an inevitable equaliser week after week?

And why did it take Jones nearly 80 minutes to make some subs when it was obvious things needed changing?

Such a complete lack of football ability in so much of this team. If we stay up it's going to be by crawling over the safety line. And if Oxford beat Wrexham, its going to be touch and go if we can crawl over that line.

We are not mathematically safe but are very likely safe. We are definitely limping over the line though. We didn't deserve more than a draw today either even though we hit the woodwork twice. I thought they should have had a penalty. What frustrates me most watching us is how difficult we find finding a red shirt. It is almost like we do it on purpose which can't be true.  Collins actually looks like he can pass a ball which is a positive for next season. That was mistake number two for Mannion so Kaminski will start on Wednesday.

Its an awful way to end the season, if we do stay up, it'll be by the skin of our teeth it seems and the concern is how that feeds into next season.

    Its so frustrating

    Yep

    FFS re today

Big clear out and recruitment in the summer

Need to significantly up the wages bill -Big teams coming down (looking forward to away at the Spuds 🥔!)

NJ - Got us up and seems to have kept us up but not a fun watch by any stretch. Essentially we are a slightly turbocharged L1 side and there was a good reason we were favourites to go straight back down.

I think he deserves a chance and I’m really pleased we aren’t on a merry go round of managers and owners any longer - we desperately needed some stability.

The owners & NJ need to use this opportunity

Not sure if that helps us or not tbh. They knew at 1-0 against the worst team in the league, after Oxfords loss, that see it out and we are safe. And they still couldn't do it.

I am thinking we are not a team that get's motivated by much.

We're basically safe but we have been utterly wank for weeks.
    No we're not.

I agree. We're not safe. Playing like that we wont get another point this season. We're relying on the teams below us fucking up. So avoidable. Im livid with the state of that performance today.
  • I confess to cowardice.

Kept myself busy this afternoon, only daring to check the score through my fingers at 17:10.  Didn't expect to win, boy ain't we making hard work of this.

It is the Charlton way  :/

I enjoyed the free header he had in the centre circle that he managed to head in the wrong direction

Does anyone seriously think that the Board will give NJ another £15m in the summer?

That game signifies why NJ cannot turn this around.

Selection, tactics, formation, subs and game management were terrible.

I was expecting us to lose as we are just such a bluff so I'll take this. Not sure where we are getting any other points from this season
