2 points deduction for the Baggies

Now level with us and have Ipswich at home tomorrow and then Sheffield Wednesday away the following Saturday

    And then there was 3
    Charlton
    WBA
    Oxford
Scratch that, Oxford won't catch up the goal difference

So we need a 6-0 Ipswich win and then Sheff Weds to get their first home win of the season, right?

Easy get out for the EFL.
    Doesn't really affect the Baggies.

They've won their last 2 games, so I think it's a bit cheap to just focus on their off-field punishment.

The table looks a little healthier than 15 minutes ago, though.

Shame it wasn't 3 points to take them below us. Instead it is a number meaning that they realistically.wont finish below us but will.be sufficiently motivated to play hard v Ipswich and let Millwall in if they nick something.

Unless they get absolutely destroyed in their last 2 games it shouldn’t affect us

2 points lost how the hell  is it so low ?????
  • I think the biggest plus is for Millwall - and feebly, for us. West Brom's game against Ipswich tomorrow is no longer a dead rubber for them - they'll now want to get something. Millwall still having a shot at 2nd place on the final day is an insurance policy we might need to call upon.

Just another way the EFL have found to help Millwall get promoted.

Seeing a team joint with us on points helps ease the pain from our free fall since Middlesbrough!

I read somewhere that it all depends on how much they breached the limit. 2 points is the minimum and I think 4 points was the max. There are also mitigating circumstances taken into account such as if the losses were reducing......which I believe they were.

2 was what I was expecting. 3 would have been nice. It was never going to be 4.

Because that's the formal EFL sanction linked to the value of their overspend. Thought you would have known that, Col.

We lose both 1-0, Oxford win both 1-0 and that’s a swing of four. They’d go above us in that scenario.

And they could have been below us if   WE JUST SCORED MORE THAN A SINGLE GOAL EVERY GAME.

But I keep get being told its clean sheets you should worry about, not goals scored.

And guess what.....they have conceded more than us this season.

I would think he was likely referring to Oxford not making up the GD with WBA

They won’t need to if we don’t pick up a point.

West Brom now not technically safe so have something to play for tomorrow v Ipswich so could work massively in our favour

No change then 🤷‍♂️ us and Oxford aren't going to start banging in a load of goals and can't see west brom getting thumped either.
