Harry Enfield was hilarious tonight, great show and I bumped into @Covered End in the toilets.

    Hopefully you apologised.

When he came out as Kevin the Teenager, it was my wife he asked whether she’d had sex and what was it like!

Oh, Mary! Went to see it with my daughter at the Trafalgar Theatre, a convenient short walk from Charing Cross Station.
We loved it. Utterly bonkers, and just fabulous.
The lead character (the wife of Abraham Lincoln) is played by Mason Alexander Park who is hilarious. Catherine Tate is taking on the role from 21st April and she’s got her work cut out.
    Recommended.

Enjoyed Romeo and Juliet at the Harold Pinter theatre - solid 7/10 for me, and my daughter loved it which was the main thing.

Noah Jupe and Sadie Sink were very good, they did a sort of sliding doors thing to show a few times things could have gone differently, which I thought worked quite well.

I found the acting for Mercutio really irritating though!!

And what was her reply, "not recently, at least none that counts"? 😁

That was my reply! He asked me what it was like and I said “I can’t remember”

I know there aren’t that many youngsters on here, though many have kids / grandkids. It seems Romeo and Juliet at the Howard Pinter with Noah Jupe (Hamlet in Hamnet) and Sadie Sink (Stranger Things) is quite a hot ticket. Opens in mid March. I’m going at the end of the month.
    What did you think?

I see it's getting a lot of 3-4/5 star reviews, and praise for the two leads and their chemistry, which is pretty in line with my thoughts!

A few scenes have really stayed with me this week though which is always a good sign.

    Inter Alia - Rosamund Pike.

Excellent. A really big performance by Pike with a huge non stop script.

    A moral dilemma to contemplate.

  • Just on the train home from Inter Alia matinee. Gripping and fantastic performance from Rosamund Pike.

Seeing Harry Enfield at The Barbican tonight and have booked Hercules tickets for next week. I wanted to see Oliver but was outvoted.
Hercules was a lot better than I thought it would be. Took a little while to warm up but enjoyed it.

Sadly had to reschedule due to a family funeral in Edinburgh so I’m not going now till beginning of June. I’m trying to resist reading the reviews as I always prefer to make up my own mind. Been great to see your feedback here - though please do spare me any details. 🙏

Saw Stranger Things in London last night. Really enjoyed it, a brilliant production. Age range of audience was vast, and I haven't heard a louder cheer at the end of a performance for years.

They filmed the broadway show in Feb for Netflix release.

London cast is arguably better, brilliant show to see in person.

So I went to see Grace Pervades, aka the Henry Irving story. It's ok if you are interested in theatre history. Expensive theatre though.

Went to see The Mousetrap recently. What’s all the fuss about? Very very average.

Saw it last year and thought it was awful - clearly just a money-making exercise

Last week I discovered that there will be a production of The Cherry Orchard later in the year at the Harold Pinter Theatre.
Now Kenneth Branagh and Helen Hunt are also in a production of the Cherry Orchard over the summer in Stratford upon Avon but getting tickets for that is nearly impossible.
Anyway the one in London has Kirsten Scott Thomas in it, and is directed by the bloke who directed Jerusalem, much easier for me to get to as well.
So I schlepped up there in person to get two tickets for much later this year (October). When the box office lady asked which night I wanted to go I had a moment, because the as yet unknown football fixtures knocks out Tuesdays and Wednesdays, certainly Saturdays, there is a possibility of a game on a Friday evening, or a Sunday, or a Monday evening, so a Thursday it had to be (my wife was irritated by my football considerations).
The two tickets came in at £210, but by October I won’t have noticed the spend.

Went to Six at the Vaudevulle theatre this week. Really good fun and great songs and a heap of girl power.

One flew over the Cuckoo’s nest at the Old Vic.

Zipped along at a good pace.  I’d recommend it.
