Pulls off some great reaction saves, makes some howlers, can't catch, can't kick reliably more than 30 yards, only comes off his line occasionally, does not command box.

Mannion has not made as many obviously great reaction saves, has missed some long range shots and made some howlers. Distinction mostly quicker and better than kaminski, does command box, comes off line, catches ball.

Both have weaknesses but cannot stand a keeper who cant catch and doesnt command his box and so i prefer Mannion.

    Worst goalkeeper since Jim Stannard
I do think he’s awful but we had a series of poor ones lately.  Big Craig, Big Jojo, Isted, AMB.  Jury out on Mannion although I think we’d have more points if he’d played all season

That's very true. It feels like an absolute age since we had a good goalkeeper.

    Hamer or Phillips probably?
Maybe Amos but he loved to concede from distance

Amos did go through a period where he was quality tbf

Save at Shrewsbury away arguably the best goalkeeper save we’ve seen by a Charlton goalkeeper in years

Was excited to see him sign with his 'perceived' pedigree but that bubble was instantly burst by a Luton fan at work who said he's a flapper.

By calling him a flapper, it suggests that he comes off his line for the ball.

If Jones was keener in the season to drop Kaminski after a couple of howlers as he was Mannion just now, I'm pretty sure we'd have at least that extra point we need.

Maybe, maybe not. Mannion has a few absolute changers to his name as well. He might have got us another point where Kaminski didn't but equally he could've cost us a point that Kaminski saw out.

Ultimately neither are good enough if we want to go from "surviving, just about" to actually established Champ side.

Either way we need a new one next year.

Potentially but same time Mannion hasn’t shown he wouldn’t have done the exact same.
  • Don’t wish to be negative after such a great result but he again nearly cost us the game yesterday with a few stupid errors and lack of concentration. Their goal was case in point after some stupidity with McBurnie. I said before it went in he would flap at the ball coming in (flapping/not strong enough). This has happened far too often this season, I’d be surprised if we didn’t move him on.

Goalkeepers have an impossible job at corners these days, regularly obstructed by opposing players who are seldom punished. VAR would have overturned Hull’s goal for a clear tug on Kaminski’s shirt that the referee missed.

GK should be one of our priorities this summer.

Awful again yesterday. Just watching the highlights back and wondering wtf he's doing for their goal - poor positioning and comms for the mix up with clarke and then weak for the resultinh corner.

His distribution regularly rushed and put us under pressure for no reason, and he flapped at a weak shot that was clearly going wide and gifted Hull a corner.

He also claimed a number of fairly tough crosses, in fact I'd say that was the most commanding of his area he's looked. Not going to ignore the clear foul on him for the goal. I'd like to move him on and sign better but he wasn't awful yesterday.

And that is the issue. He had a relatively goid game yesterday and still wasnt good enough

I thought he had a good game overall yesterday and stood up really well to an attacking style he normally crumbles under. It doesn’t take away the fact though that he feels like he’s always got one mistake in him a game and in a team that struggles to score we can’t afford that. Jones looked very pleased with Kaminski after the game yesterday but I wouldn’t mind moving him on and getting a new keeper in

I doubt he’d ever be good enough for some our supporters at this point.

Anyone thinking VAR overturns that goal is kidding themselves. Firstly the shirt pull is over before he falls but also he puts his hands on the striker too. The guidance is if both players are grappling to tend to let it go. He wasn’t helped by the marking though and it was a well worked set piece. The way Hull blocked actually reminded me of the Knibbs goal against Watford.

Beyond that he had a decent game and came for more crosses. He had another he flapped at and a shot he needlessly turned behind though. He’s too old to coach both how to claim crosses and how to keep his concentration. You could probably do one but not the other. If there are suitors I can see him leaving but I also struggle to see the suitors

I also doubt he'll ever be good enough but if he becomes good enough that'd also be great.

Nothing tough about most of the crosses he took yesterday .  That one he tipped around the post that was going a quarter of a goal wide raises serious judgement questions .  I really wouldn’t mind some of his flaws if he was actually a good shot stopper , but he isn’t .

It's the fact that he took them in the same manner you'd expect Mannion to (apart from one flap). Everyone moans about him not coming for crosses and helping out the defence but when he does it's just dismissed. Why can't people just be objective and say he did some things well and some not so.

They weren’t under pressure catches though, for the most part , just a keeper catching a cross , which is what they are paid to do .  I don’t think everyone moans about that anyway; some do but most moan that he’s not that good a shot stopper either

I fear that if the rumours are true about how much we paid / how much he earns then offloading and replacing may be a financial move we can’t afford.

It’s not that he or Mannion are terrible it’s that he has been a poor prioritisation of our limited budget.

Better quality in front of him may mitigate.

He on 14k out highest earner along with Coady .. excellent keeper who without him we would have been bottom 3 ages ago .. yesterday his handling was top class considering the constant fouling from the number 25 who blocked him from moving every time … yet the ref failed to see it at all …
