Sunderland lost 5 on the bounce last season and won the playoffs, everything goes out the windows when playoffs hitstonemuse said:

Why trolling? Think about, who really cares where you finish in the play offs? Does it really give you that much of an advantage? I’ve not seen the stats on if it does or not but I very much doubt it does. Refreshed players will do though. A lot of ours were blowing out their arse tonight. Picked up an extra couple of injuries as well. If Ipswich pick up enough points between now and next Saturday to secure top 2 then 100% we should be resting players v Oxford. Seems a no brainer to me.Rothko said:

On the coach home. We’ve blown top 2. I personally couldn’t give a shit where we finish in the play offs to be honest. Last time we were in them we finished 6th and won them. The year before that we finished 4th and lost. We looked tired tonight. It’s been a long season. If we’re totally out of the running for top 2 by next week, which we will be, I think we should rest players and play the fringe players/youngsters. Get legs fresh and niggles recovered before the play offs. I think that’ll give us a much bigger advantage than whether we play the first leg at home or not. I don’t even think it’s that big an advantage anyway. Refreshed players will be.oohaahmortimer said:Embarrassing , please help us oh super club millwall please

millwall will do what's best for them and that is to finish as high in the table as possible not worry about us whelks
we will stay up
stop mincing about wanking the scum off to do well , shameful lot of pussiosI doubt it’ll make much difference to the bottom of the table anyway. You’ll probably pick up a point in one of your last two games. But that’s how I would play it if I was alex Neil.2 -
I am trying to think of this in a scientific and data lead way.... but ultimately the only thing that matters is the Rule of Scum.
Millwall will fuck us.
It's an exact science.5 -

Going in to the play offs cold? What are you on about? 45 games played this season and you think players will be ‘cold’ because they miss one game? Was we ‘cold’ when we came back from the international break and held Ipswich to a draw at Portman Road and then beat Boro away? Load of rubbish. The players will benefit from a rest and managed minutes and a suitable training regime prior to the playoffs, which start two weeks today. All irrelevant of course if Ipswich drop enough points between now and Saturday but I can’t see that now.Rothko said:

Burton game last season Jones and Berry (i.e. any injury risks) weren't even in the squad, we finished the game with some kids coming on. That doesn't happen if we're going for second place. Burton were on the beach, didn't cause us any problems. But changes were made, and Millwall will do the equivalent if second place is beyond them.stonemuse said:

I’m confident we are not going down. My point is that resting players when going for the playoffs is risky.Er_Be_Ab_Pl_Wo_Wo_Ch said:

I'm sitting in a hospital bed after an operation and instead of relaxing I'm thinking about Charlton bloody Athletic and how if Ipswich get 3 points from the next two games, Millwall have every right to rest their better players on their 46th match against Oxford if they feel they don't care who they play in the play offs!
I should be worrying or at least more concerned about what the surgeon is going to say to me in the morning 🤷🏻♂️
I will still probably be here so will I watch the Hull game on my Phone and take the chance of a relapse if we get hit with the old 1-2 again !!!
I love Charlton but I also hate them at times for what I/We go through for having picked them for our team.
I was born in Bermondsey and have lived in Surrey for the majority of my life, yet supported Charlton and Kent 🤦🏻♂️
A complete Rodney Charlton Trotter am I.
I love you all my Charlton CL tribe even the ones I have had words with over the last 12 years; you must all be as bonkers as me 🤔
Please CAFC get a point or 3 against Hull if Oxford beat Sheffield minus points Wednesday on the morrow.
On my 10th saline bag since 5.30 that is flushing out my water pipes after a Transurethal resection.
One nurse said it's a Rosé wine colour but so far it looks more like Claret!!!
So many lifers have had worse things happen to them and their nearest and dearest and I still feel I have had a lucky life overall despite my Sporting choices 😀
'We go again' as the cliché goes.

Ipswich should now finish in 2nd place, which with wins for Middlesbrough today and Southampton in midweek would put those two teams on 79 points. Anything less than a Millwall win against Oxford and you now risk finishing in 5th and having to play the second and decisive leg of the semi-final playoff game away from home which at the moment looks like it could be Middlesbrough on a Tuesday nightMillwallFan said:

Whilst I don't disagree i principal. They'll also want to make sure they finish 3rd, and miss Southmapton/Boro in the Play Off Semi0 -
This is the ideal. The we can have them beating Oxford and yet not finishing 2nd because another team wins.ForeverAddickted said:Ipswich haven't beaten West Brom yet eitherIf they lose tomorrow, and draw with Southampton (who win themselves tomorrow), then you're potentially looking at a final day battle ofIpswich: 80-ptsSouthampton: 80-ptsMiddlesbrough: 79-pts (if they also win tomorrow)Millwall: 79-pts0 -
That’s funny because that’s exactly the analogy I used the other day to describe NJ’s football.ForeverAddickted said:TheHerminator said:
As I understand it they have a few playing with injuries. I doubt they’ll have their first choice 11 out for the Oxford gameForeverAddickted said:
Why? - They're not going to want to rely on picking up their form at the start of the Play-Offs having lost their last two gamesTheHerminator said:As funny as this is, it’s not good for us. They’ll rest players against Oxford nowUntil we're in a position where we need help from Millwall, and see their team sheet its just not worth worrying aboutFeels like the attitude of being too scared to step outside, just in case you might get hit by a bus0 -
Thats huge that no one has won the Play-Offs from 7th yet...?Also its worth noting that Blackpool's promotion in 2011, was the last time a team from 6th won the Play-Offs1
-
Important to note for next year when play-off places extend to eighth 😉ForeverAddickted said:Thats huge that no one has won the Play-Offs from 7th yet...?Also its worth noting that Blackpool's promotion in 2011, was the last time a team from 6th won the Play-Offs
Having reduced the top flight from 22 down to 20 over a couple of years starting in 86/87, which was the trigger for the play-offs in the first place, in 1991 the First Division jumped back to 22, with three teams promoted automatically from Div Two plus the play-off winner and only two being relegated, hence the only time (thus far) that seventh has been included in the play-offs in the second division.0 -
Interesting. I wonder how much of that comes down to the team finishing third just being better, as opposed to them having home advantage for the second leg.jimmymelrose said:

To be fair, if that does happen, I’d put a lot of it down to Oxford being deflated after seeing both West Brom and us move out of reach.ForeverAddickted said:Time to watch Oxford vs Sheff Wed play out the most boring of 0-0's meaning we were shatting ourselves for 90mins for nothing2 -
