I had the Coupe version. Real petrol guzzler, you needed a petrol tanker always to be travelling behind.fadgadget said:Rover P5

Many years ago I was an HGV mechanic, and I worked for Tankfreight Ltd by the Blackwall Tunnel. Part of my duties was to inspect and present ADR Tankers for test at Purfleet GVTS. The drawing vehicle I used to use was a Scammell Crusader with front mounted side exit exhaust.CaptainRobbo said:gringo said:Wonder which cars the current generation would dream of owning Jaecoo, maybe Changan or Byd?
The exhaust tailpipe was like a howitzer. The engine of the Crusader was a Rolls Royce Eagle 2 coupled to a Fuller Roadranger 13 speed gearbox.Returning from Purfleet one afternoon along the A13, and about to turn left towards the Blackwall Tunnel a person was in a C3, deerstalker hat with a tweed cape was in the lane going straight on to towards town.Just as I turned left I had to double de-clutch and blip the throttle to get my get my gear, so a whoosh of black smoke exits the exhaust just as the fellow in the C3 is alongside. The poor soul was nearly blown into the next lane before disappearing into the darkness of the smoke.Never saw another one .1 -
It was classic car drive it day yesterday and took mine out along with a mate who’s got a triumph to Otford. Saw a lovely 3 litre Austin Healey just past Eynsford.0

Yes and looking at the image of it in the museum, it looks to be only the bodywork?CaptainRobbo said:

I actually owned one of my dream cars for about 7 years, seen here at a cars and coffee meet!
Wish I hadn’t sold it, but the sea air where we lived was starting to cause electrical problems, so I got shot as soon as that started!

Depending on the year, some of them had degradable wiring harnesses.Stuart_the_Red said:I actually owned one of my dream cars for about 7 years, seen here at a cars and coffee meet!

First registered in 1990. I bought her when she was 24 years old with only 120.000km on the clock.0

I have never owned a car nor lusted after one. I do think the E-type convertible is beautiful but I’ll take a Ducati 916 all day long.0

Having owned this for 29 years, would take a lot for me to switch to something else (although a series 1 E-Type might sway me). Nothing better than taking it out for a spin on a sunny weekend morning.
