How does Apter have better stats?RonnieMoore said:
Apter still got better stats than Campbell and he played over 30 games somehow …Laddick01 said:
I don’t think Apter is a terrible player. Technically there’s clearly something there. He started well this season when we allowed him to get forward and linked up well with Carey. However, the lack of defensive capability started to hurt us.fenaddick said:It hasn't worked but I don't buy that there was no logic to the Apter deal. Under Steve Bruce he was playing as an old school winger in a 442 style rather than higher up the pitch like wingers in a 433 play. The idea was that he'd be able to learn the defensive side and be a Small type player. Then Edwards got injured, TC was playing LWB and Apter had to be even better defensively and seemingly didn't put in the work. I don't think it was a terrible signing, it just hasn't worked outIt just feels very naive to try and teach a younger player, who has never played at this level, a position that he probably doesn’t have the physical attributes to play.Sichenje was a similar fee and has slotted in seamlessly. I just feel we’d have been better going for an actual RWB that can attack, rather than trying to convert a very attacking RM into a defender.
As a result we’ve now killed his confidence, he can’t get a game in League One, and we’re most likely losing the majority of the fee we paid.
Apter hasn’t scored a goal in league one whilst Campbell scored plenty last season.
There’s someone on Facebook called Colin Sams who goes around all the groups giving TC abuse on them, It’s not you by any chance is it?1 -

Will be interesting to see if Apter & Tanto get any minutes in the play-off games.1

We have over 30 on our books who have played in the first team. A big bunch of them will have to leave if we are going to recruit championship level players10

Jordan Clark would be a very typical Nathan Jones signing. Not a signing I’d be jumping around the room for but a zero risk signing who at the very minimum is a good experienced character in the dressing room. Berry had the legs last year ran out this year, Clark has 14 months on berry so hopefully can offer 1 very good seasoncafc_se7 said:
And I mean I have contacts from inside Luton so take it as done yes.cafc_se7 said:
I have it on good authority that we have already signed Jordan Clark. Sorry to say.AberystwythAddick said:We should not be looking at Luton players or reallly any player in league 1.We need to think bigger5 -
Jordan Clark seems to win player of the year every year at Luton, so must have something about him0

Who cares where players come from.
I want properly scouted players who have been watched in person multiple times, by well thought of scouts, with some level of analytics; and with homework done on their personality and character. Like our successful teams of old.
I want less "he played really well against us" signings which was our downfall last season.
We need to recruit like Millwall, Coventry, Lincoln have done recently. None of them shied away from players lower in the pyramid.
If that means players from L1, L2, Japan or wherever I don't really care. Just get the best ones for our budget and style of play.13 -
So according to some it is a done deal that we are signing a player that still has one game left to play for his current club. We may sign him, we probably will sign him but it is far from a done deal, even if he has been given the nod and he winked back.1

So forgive me for not googling the info, but to put things into perspective two players that really impressed me were watfords, Irankunda and Louza, these are the types of signings that would take us forwards, now I’m assuming they are both big money players and yet they are in a team that’s done nothing, however it’s probably fair to say in a different market to where we will be shopping. My point is it’s going to be difficult to bridge the gap looking upwards and I’m not sure some players mentioned on here for example Oxfords better players, are really going to allow us to improve enough. Also not sure how many or how easy it will be to shift what we perceive not good enough players under good length contracts. Will be fun watching what happens and again we will see the ambition of our owners, NJ seems to think they will support him appropriately by what he was saying about them after the game.0

Surprising that it's been agreed already, seeing that until Saturday afternoon we could still have been relegated to L1, while Luton are still in the promotion race from L1?cafc_se7 said:

He’s out of contract at the end of the season.killerandflash said:

In fairness, NJ said Carey was on his way to Barnsley before we got promoted then agreed to come to us.
Could be Clark has given a gentlemans agreement that he will come here now we have secured our status on the championship.1 -
He's going to be 33 almost as soon as the season starts. He's a central midfielder, the position where your legs go fastest. What are we doing here8

Jesus Christ, here we go again. You will sit there and suffer with the rest of us... Whats more, you'll enjoy it if ya knows what's good for you, because for some weird reason you decided to become a Charlton supporter000__Jaaaaay__000 said:

a) what division Luton will be in next season
b) what division Charlton will be in next season0 -
Nah you’re right. We should never have signed 53 year old Conor Coady and saved our season. I’ve heard his legs have gone.Leuth said:He's going to be 33 almost as soon as the season starts. He's a central midfielder, the position where your legs go fastest. What are we doing here3 -
That's exactly what I would expect. Another experienced head signing , he's played 41 games this season for Luton in all comps with 11 goals from midfield so basically is a like for like for Berry. Might play deeper though in more of the Doc role potentially.CafcSteve said:

That was basically an emergency loan for 3 months. This is talk of a permanent signing of a player almost as old as Coady from L1. I'll believe it's a good signing when I see it pay off, but I'm skepticalBetterCallSaul said:

He’s not coming in as a starter is he. He will be a bench player/ on coach similar to hylts. If it doesn’t cost a lot in wages then fine.
the starting mids need to be the big signings1 -
We clearly need to bring in some quality starters but some just focus on that and forget about the squad depth. This player or that player isn't good enough but of course what they are good enough for is important. If we bring in three top notch starters that will be massive but that would be a great window and you are still going to need your Docs etc...1

Signing starters still covers squad depth because the starters from this season just move to squad depth.MuttleyCAFC said:We clearly need to bring in some quality starters but some just focus on that and forget about the squad depth. LWB, LCB and RWB the only positions where we need to sign depth options opposed to starters. Purely because Edwards and Bell are good enough to start and we have no championship quality RWBs2 -
I am not saying it isn’t a possibility but he was really poor today for the u21s. While he may be on the fringes of the squad, I highly doubt a 19 year old is going to play any sort of substantive role next year.Starinnaddick said:I think Keenan Gough will be in the squad.
