But there is no DRS and no official gets every decision correct. Crawley and every other batter would have been the beneficiary of not being given out when they were LBW or when they've hit the ball and not been dismissed caught behind. And he's not a club cricketer any more than the umpires are club umpires.fenaddick said:
Sure but you don’t deserve to be given out for bad technique, if that was a law there’d be no club cricket!Addick Addict said:
Trouble is he keeps missing the ball (four times LBW and twice bowled this season). Look where that head is in relation to his hands and the ball - that is the technical issue that keeps getting him in trouble.fenaddick said:
Just seen the Crawley LBW. The idea that this is hitting leg is farcical. He’s been poor this season no doubt but that’s two games in a row he’s got a dodgy decision. His reputation is preceding him
Luck is a cyclical thing but, equally, in the last two games he's been dropped off sitters before being dismissed. If and when he turns his form around he'll probably find that he gets more of the rub of the green.
Crawley is the England opener and missed straight balls in six out of ten innings this season when it's mattered and numerous other occasions when he hasn't been given out too. It's too easy to blame officials and if he sorted out his technique in the first place he would be taking such decisions out of their hands. But he hasn't and doesn't and that is why he has a lifetime average of just 31.68.0 -
Fantastic rear guard 100* (155) from Benjamin6

Partnership of 152 with Evison
272-6 and a lead of 320. Is it time to start dreaming of a win?6 -
It’ll be Kent’s first Championship win since April last year. Lots to do yet though. The wicket looks like it has flattened out quite a bit.Addick Addict said:Partnership of 152 with Evison

Elsewhere, the women have beaten Sussex by six wickets in the Metro Bank5

For all the criticism that Hollioake has received, I mentioned previously that his most successful decision of the season in bringing in Benjamin for Finch However, he did something else in this game that has undoubtedly benefitted us. Effectively, he gave Ekansh a "free hit" at six and pushed Evison down to eight.
To a degree, that sent a message to Evison that his place isn't guaranteed and that he needs to do something meaningful to retain it. Which he has now done. No doubt, if Stewart were available for the next game then Ekansh would miss out and Evison and Benjamin will revert to batting at six and seven albeit not necessarily in that order. All we need now is for the top five to find some runs consistently!4 -

Knowing our luck we will have them 8 down and Fanny will accidentally start dancing

306-7 Evison gone for 88. Lead 3541

Yes, but don’t you think Finch could come back in just as a batsman? Hopefully Compton will be back for Dawkins. Jas Singh was very expensive in Derbys first innings so maybe Stewart should replace him.Addick Addict said:For all the criticism that Hollioake has received, I mentioned previously that his most successful decision of the season in bringing in Benjamin for Finch However, he did something else in this game that has undoubtedly benefitted us. Compton will be back for Dawkins if fit. Stewart might well replace Jas in which case either Ekansh will retain his place as the fifth seamer or Parkinson will come in as the sole spinner. Finch hasn't done enough to justify a position as a batter alone in red ball (averaged 25.66 last season and has a lifetime average of 27.56) and bringing him in for would leave us with just four bowlers.Peter_G said:

That's Co Co Streets second hundred of the season. Seb played with her brother, Ollie, throughout the Kent age group system. Lovely family.fenaddick said:This is fun, two centuries in 90 seconds for the two Kent sides

Benjamin out for a fantastic 1236

Derbyshire need 384 to win. Not sure how many overs left but would be great if we can nick a wicket or two tonight.2

Haydon, playing just his third FC game, has taken 10-163 in the match.1

How does Benjamin's keeping compared with Finch's? For a part timer, Finch turned himself into a very good keeper.0

I thought ir closed at 19-0 as missed the last couple of balls with problem on the stream !!BRILLIANT !!!!!
Just LOVE Benjamin & Evison! Battlers, full of courage, endeavour & such concentration ! Our very specail rearguard!
And so pleased Matt Milnes claimed a wicket tonight . Another favourite of mine & glad he's back home.
Oh, MOL . No fear of Fanny dancing in error- my legs have done a Johnnie Jackson with all the activity that's been requested in the past couple of weeks.
And don't mention varicose veins

I think Finch is probably the better keeper but there probably isn't much between the two of them as things stand. The likes of Billings or Robinson would come in front of both but, at the end of the day, it's how many crucial catches they drop or stumpings they miss that will define them. That will probably become more tested once we play a spinner or two later in the season as it's easier to keep standing back than it is standing up on a track that is turning and bouncing.killerandflash said:How does Benjamin's keeping compared with Finch's? I also wouldn't be surprised if both Benjamin and Finch played in the 50 over comp and Finch kept.2 -
A good gesture by the county. Let’s hope those who go today are rewarded with a winfenaddick said:Also, free entry tomorrow for those who can get down to Cantebury3 -
Kent are on fire this morning. Derbyshire are 41/5 with Milnes getting 3 of them, Dudgeon and Evison one each. Great catching in the slips by Muyeye and Dawkins.3
