I don’t even know where Adhame is.
Stevenage have been paying some of his wages for him to be in our treatment room for about 6 months

Ruthless makes me wonder if there's going to be a couple of surprises during the summer. JRC , Coventry maybe Ramsay if he doesn't sign a new deal
Would JRC and Coventry even be surprises, JRC clearly not favoured by Jones and Coventry has let Coady comfortably steal his spot.

The only surprises this season for me would be Mannion (cheap no.2), Jones, Edwards, Sichenje, Burke (no one gambles on him with his injuries) and Bell.

Everyone else either isn’t liked by Jones, has a clear weakness in their game that can justify getting rid of or in TC and Ramsays case are out of contract and you could get a decent fee for

I think offloading someone 1 year into a 4 year deal does count as pretty ruthless

Usually I would agree but seeing Ahadme depart even on loan this year was euphoric opposed to ruthless if it doesn’t work it doesn’t work you either accept you got it wrong or persist and stand still. I know JRC is 100x the player and has something in him but same concept that you can ditch players after a year

This suggests we could see the first team released and retained list by the end of the week.

This is good and much needed - current players who i think could / should be first choice next season: kaminski, jones, bell, ramsay, possibly campbell - 5 players out of a squad of whatever it is, 28 ? squad players i'd be happy to have around the first team picture: coventry, carey, burke, sichenje, mannion, kelman, godden, fevrier, coady, possibly doc and leaburn. That's another 11. So lots to be offloaded or loaned out. I think a loan would benefit Fullah. This would fit with the 10/11 new signings mentioned earlier on here.

There is a reason he has the most clearances in the championship.  One is he is an excellent defender and two he is the most comfortable clearing the ball and safe passes along the back line.  He is not your traditional ball playing center half.  There will be plenty of interest in him.  I just doubt any payout would be high enough to justify the risk of losing him from the squad.  I fully expect his agent to leak some rumors this summer as a negotiation tactic and I also expect him to sign an extension.
I reckon that's because we give the ball back to the opposition every 5 seconds and play a low possession style of football, I feel sorry for him.
Yep, if you average 30% possession, you definitely should expect to be doing a lot of defending.

Assuming all those with contracts running down, re-sign, I believe we have a better chance of improving the squad if we go 4-1-3-2 or 4-1-2-3

    Mannion
    Ramsay/Sichenze/Asiimwe
    Jones
    Graham/Bell
    Edwards
    Apter/Fev
    De Keersmaeke
    JRC/New
    Campbell
    Kelman
    Leaburn/Jatta/New/Kanu

Perhaps four signings, one on a free, one cheap.

    As our current set-up:-

    Mannion
    Ramsay/Sichenze/ Asiimwe
    Jones
    Graham/Bell/Edwards
    New/Fukuda
    New
    New
    New
    New
    Kelman
    Leaburn/Jatta/New/Kanu

To replace the five with decent quality will be expensive.  I hope Anderson will play a part. Tangerines love him.

Any money spent must be starters. Obviously Graham,  De Keersmaeker and Jatta are suggestions. Id also add Iorpenda as a squad addition.

Perhaps go with a four until we are established, then go back to Nathans five.

We definitely won't be going for players at L2 last year in Iorpenda (L1 huddersfield didnt want him) or Jatta
I'm not sure how you watched Anderson earlier this year and think he's suddenly the solution
Jones is never going to suddenly switch formation as a Plan A considering all his success is with a 352.

The only formation switch I can see coming is 5-2-2-1 rather than 5-2-1-2 alternating between a CAM and a winger behind the forward, 2 x CAMs or 2 x wings.

With one year left on his contract hoping we will be sniffing around JRS.

Please sign Connor Coady and make him captain. I think he's a great leader always talking to his team mates. I really want him to sign

Coventry are prepared to break their transfer record to sign Sorba Thomas from Stoke City … sort of winger we need.
Sorba Thomas who we could have signed from Boreham Wood if we'd managed to agree a fee.

We've got to go and find the next Sorba Thomas from Non League because we sure as hell haven't got the budget for ready-made championship wingers with his kind of production.
They wanted 500,000 for him no way was we going to pay that for a non league player

Can see a total clearout happening. We have been terrible since November.
Have we perhaps the 10 injuries had something to do with that losing most of our defence .. and we still did not drop into bottom 3 .. I would say we done fantastic to come through that period still in a good position

Officially the on loan at Stevenage but has been back with us for treatment that ruled him out for the rest of season back in March

I actually don’t think they will be for a year.
Leicester already paying some of his wages and Wrexham want him gone so I don’t think we’d be paying anything like his full wage if we were to get him for next year.

Suspect it’d have to be on a season long loan basis.

Spent £500k in the Sandgaard era on enough other players that did absolutely nothing.

Effectively signed Kirk instead for a similar fee to what Huddersfield (in the Championship) paid for Thomas in the same year.

Very poor recruitment given the direction the two players careers have gone in since.

There won’t be many non-league players going for those sort of fees, but a lot of NL clubs are pro now and occasionally a player will be worth it. That’s where good judgement of their ability, physical attributes and character comes into it.

Leicester paid around £1m for Vardy from the same league and that was in 2012.

Seriously doubt we’d be in for JRS to play 3421 I think is unlikely because we have a minimum 7 forwards contracted to us next season and Jones has used it 3 times all year and gave up after the Wrexham game and 60 mins at Swansea.

it’s also still a Nathan Jones team he’s not going to go for JRS with someone with no defensive ability no workrate no physicality. He took a gamble on one in Apter and he was gone within 6 months

We need to be looking for a younger version of him. And cheaper.

I think you only really have to look at the fall off Peterborough have had to show the change towards the National League basically being League 3 and pretty much all FT and how that's affected the transfer market. You've got so many ex EFL clubs in there now with basically no spending controls that it's no longer the happy hunting ground for finding untapped talent for low fees.

I hope we have put an offer to Oxford for Cameron Brannagan, always looked a class above whenever I've seen him. Good dead ball delivery, always involved and positive

Can't say I know much about the foreign players

The kid from Palace who was playing for Wednesday looked ok but thats it, no better than Chambers an no worse

Cantwell at Blackburn is one of the best midfielders in this division but I think is above our pay scale but I'd love us to sign him

I might be guilty of bias on how good he looked when we played against him but Sorenson from Lincoln and now Huddersfield at right wing back or the kid who plays for Burton, always fit gets forward and hits a decent delivery

Mumba at Plymouth or wherever he is now has always impressed me but I imagine would be expensive cover for Edwards. He is fun to watch though and properly pins opposing players back

Charlie Savage is a class player but that may be that he is one of the players who is at the perfect level for his ability, decent player stays fit and affects games.

I'd be happy with any of the above but most are league 1 players and come with the usual question marks about stepping up apart from Cantwell who is really a premier league player

If Tottenham manage to stay up I'd be interested in Lankshear and Donley probably on loan as they have futures in the game at a high level

I think dipping back into division one for players comes with risk, possibly only Kelman and Carey could be given plus marks so far. That's not to say the any signings are risk free, they all are, but Charlton need quality that doesn't exist in that division, plenty of potential there, but the leap into Championship football hinders their progression. It's also become very difficult to blood youngsters, as it was in our premiership days, the league, as Nathan Jones stated is a 'monster' and we need players who are equipped to handle that.

Absolutely it does, its also in reality the pond we are fishing in. Besides that I don't know enough about fringe players in this division or the depth of premier league academies to make comment on them

Would love to sign Cantwell. Thought he was superb when they came back from 2 nil down. Doubt it would happen though.
