    Hi!
    Hello?
Bum Parpingtons goaled a Wembley, make him prince of Greenwich

    ^for old times' sake ;)
Good old Plain Jane Purrington. Is there another full-back in modern football who can't run with the ball?

I think Leaburn will be given the Dykes role next season. I appreciate his goal return was poor ( in a poor scoring team, it should be noted ) but genuinely feel he is good enough to make that difference with a run of games under his belt. Leaburn is much better with his feet than Dykes aswell.

Godden to be re-signed for one more year I reckon. Like him but it is a risk.
  • I really didnt see much at all from Leaburn to prove he is capable at this level of producing what we need from him

he for sure isnt ready to be a starter and doesnt make enough impact off the bench

a league 1 loan till Jan and then reassess i think works best for both parties

we need better for next season

Dykes will need replacing as we need goals.
Leaburn will need to up his game and fight for a place.

Random guess but I reckon we will end up signing Archie Collins from Pboro on a 3 year deal.
I’d hope we are aiming for better. Although he’s better on the ball than our current midfield, Collins is to me very much a top end league 1/bottom end championship player that wouldn’t be the big upgrade we need in midfield

I think he will end up at one of the relegated championship sides in league 1 or a promoted league 1 team in the championship. I think our sights will be set higher

I'm hoping we don't end up in the situation where we aim higher but Collins is what we end up with - as with last season (aimed for Galbraith, ended up with Rankin-Costello.)

People are going to have to accept that players like Carey who signed on a free transfer are going to be sold if there's a decent profit to be made. The sustainability rules are pretty restrictive for a club of our size and making a £4-5m profit on a player is something that is unlikely to be turned down regardless of who it is. The focus will then be on finding a suitable replacement, though I wouldn't be that shocked if the replacements were Knibbs and Fullah
    £4 - 5 million yes. £3 - 4 million no.
And both yes and no if it's bang on £4m?
    Maybe.

Haven’t looked at the best loans from League One last year, but I’d imagine there are a few now ready for Championship football.

Would be great to find the next Cullen etc.

It’s actually not really been a great year for loans in league 1. The only real standout I think is Cozier-Duberry but I think he will have lots of championship interest and wouldn’t be a great fit for us anyway. Casteldine was the other proper good one but he was recalled in Jan and sent to Boro

Outside of that, Burstow, Jay-Morgan and Kellyman have all hit double figures on goals. Alex Mitchell has obviously done very well but we know about him. Not sure any of those would be great options for us

2 I’d be keen on are

Louie Barry- not done much and had some injuries over the last 18 months but I’ve long thought he could be the perfect player for the TC hybrid LW/ST role but more of a goalscorer instead of a creator so a good alternative to TC

Cameron Humphreys - 2 good loans in league 1 now, Wycombe last season and Huddersfield 2nd half of this season. Centre mid so a position we need and probably available permanently with Ipswich’s promotion

Could throw in Nathan trott as a keeper option at Cardiff but L1 loan quality definitely been poor this year

Dykes could be hoping for a gig with a  top Scottish side after the World cup. He might even get a a decent offer from abroad. International and contract free.

He is being moved from Blackpool beach to more up market Brighton beach.

Sounds like Dykes is leaving.  Personally I wanted to keep him, always rated his link up play and his goal vs Bristol City showed what he could do when it was played on the floor.  Played a huge part in our revival post Jan.

one or two good games but we played better without him in the two key matches at the end of the season .

Dykes did great for us, he was one of the players we needed at the specific time and done his job with, Coady, Fevrier and Clarke, would I have them back?, that depends on who we sign instead!!, not sitting on the fence at all😂

He only joined on a short contract so that he would be playing regularly and would hopefully be picked for Scotland in the World Cup.

To no fault of his own, problem with Dykes is when hes on the pitch none of our players want to take risks or are eager too push higher up to get more players into the final 3rd when you can just hoof to Dykes and gamble on the seconds. There is 100% a time and place for him but the football is never going to progress with him on the pitch which is sad because he is so good at what he does. Whatever we do with him theres always going to be questions whether its the right decision or not.

Because to say Matt Penney couldnt run with the ball as a description of his problems would only be scratching the surface

Wouldn't expect to see Dykes back. Think he'll end up in the SPL or a midlands L1 side. But we do need someone to replace his experience.
Unless he's going to one of the top 3 (unlikely) in Scotland he'd probably earn more staying in England.

I think he's still capable of getting a deal as a backup player at a bottom half championship club.

He scored 3 goals in half a season, i'd like to think that won't be too hard to replace.

We definitely would benefit from having a Dykes type of player as an option, that link role is a useful thing to have and a bit of a physical threat up top to complement/contrast with Godden and Kelman etc is a useful thing.

However I would like to think there is a younger, better version out there somewhere we should be looking for.

Ipswich winning promotion - Ashley Young retiring the signing that kept Harry Clarke out of the team - Ipswich have a activation clause to extend his contract by one year - does McKenna seen him as part of his plans after good loans spells guess we will see, I personally don’t think so if they want to stay in the Premier League.

He is only 25 and has had a lot of loans throughout his career has this stifled his development? Would we buy him if he is available? He’s currently on £15k a week ! Would imagine he is out of our wage structure! However he still has potential to develop and fine tune areas of his game - I was particularly impressed with his attitude on and off the pitch, at the right club he could really develop - likely he’ll be off to Derby or Preston though

Sound easy but when you take into account his 3 assists (4 if u include the one at Birmingham which should have counted) that’s our player with 3rd most goal contributions and 2nd if we look at non-pen goal contributions which he managed in only 16 starts and 4 sub appearances

Ipswich signed him 3 and a half years ago as a 21 year old when they were in league one and he's still on the same contract. Surely he isn't on 15k a week?

That said, if Kaminski's reported salary is correct then it's not out of our structure.

Not impossible if his promotion wages bump was a higher % than the decrease from relegation. Ipswich were already throwing money around then if I remember rightly? In fact, he’s likely to have had two sets of promotion wage rises, L1 > Champ and Champ > PL
