Completely depends on the end date of his contract I suppose but I’d be surprised

Most contracts run to the end of June, so it is possible we will get a few payments

It's a bit unfair to blame Dykes for all the long balls hoofed up to him down the middle. Any No 9 would struggle with that sort of service, as those balls are meat and drink to centre backs.

At Leicester Dykes and Carey both scored good goals, after crosses from the wingbacks, yet that form of attack seemed to dry up completely.

another good loan, and he did a really good job for us , especially in Jan and Feb. Will always get a cheer from me, consummate professional .
Hope he has a great world cup but not against England.
He came in, did a job now we can focus on finding a long term answer not a short term fixer-upper. He did what we needed him to do (mostly) but we need a better player in the long term.
    Spot on

Yes we do because Dykes is under contract at the point the player leaves for the World Cup.

We get paid per day Dykes leaves for the World Cup (not his first game) until his final international game.

based on 2022 World Cup it was 10k per player per day if similar rules apply. Dykes will generate roughly 140k (4 days travel before World Cup complete guess, 10 days between first and last group game).

Then say Scotland finish 2nd ahead of Morocco entirely possible that’s an extra 50k, or as a 3rd place qualifying team (smash Haiti) that’s an extra 60k, so potentially around 200k

however Birmingham are also entitled to some of that compensation because he played for the national team during their World Cup qualification at Brum (not sure what %).

Bottom line we can make some decent money, that almost pays Dykes contract for being here so not only has he played well keeping us up he’s basically funded his own contract in playing well

    Skybet have them at 250/1.
When you consider that Leicester were 5000/1 to win the Prem, it isn't very generous.

He scored a couple of really good and important goals at Leicester and West Brom, both with excellent finishes from top-class passes. However, his overall play was nothing special and in my opinion, Miles Leaburn offered more. Would Miles have scored those goals though, I don't know?
Going forward I think that a partnership of Miles and Kelman could prove fruitful.
He absolutely did not. Miles managed one assist across the season and that was a header down off a corner. Dykes laid on three goals for his teammates and that doesn't include goals like the one against Middlesbrough where he created the space for Coady's goal by dragging his man away from the box. Dykes dropped off towards the end of the season but his hold up play, his flick ons, his aggressive pressing and his surprisingly good movement across the ground with the ball at his feet were streets ahead of what Leaburn produced. Leaburn had a few good games, he was good against Leicester with Dykes as his partner and he looked dangerous in some sub appearances but he was nowhere near what Dykes brought, which is why we needed to go out and get Dykes in the first place.

He did get a fair few assists, too. The big lump doesn't have to be prolific, if he gets goal involvement. Up there with Kelman and Carey on that basis.

Makes it even more galling that Jamaica lost out in the end, if we had Bell, Anderson, Campbell and Dixon in the squad that alone would have been 500k extra money, more if they got past the group

What a classy guy. Wouldn't be against giving him a 1 year contract as I don't think Leaburn can stay fit for the whole season. Dykes could give us something different off the bench and runs his socks off

Know its a Joke, but we'd have gotten a majority proportion of 400k think the club missed out on a great transfer strategy this year

Out of all the loans he's actually the only one I've thought about maybe keeping.
I just think he has a bit of an edge about him. He's decent technically and can hold the ball up. He's also not afraid to get in amongst it.

If it was a toss up between him and Leaburn I think I'd go Dykes

Came in, tried hard and scored a couple. Then stopped trying when he wanted to avoid injury for the world cup (fair enough). Don't want him back.

Completely depends on the end date of his contract I suppose but I’d be surprised
Most contracts run to the end of June, so it is possible we will get a few payments
Their last World Cup Group Game is on the 24th June, so bold of you to expect to play at the World Cup beyond then ;)

If Scotland can’t get 3rd as a qualifier in a group with Haiti would have been less embarrassing if they hadn’t qualified in the first place

Doesnt mean they'll Qualify from 3rd even if they just get 3-pts from beating Haiti
They've never gotten past the Group Stages in a Major Tournament, although agree this is their best chance

He is fine as a reserve traditional center forward (which is what his role had been the last 4-5 years) but we already have our reserve center forward in Miles.  We need a solid starter of which neither Miles or Dykes is at this level

Just shows how much I am club over country id rather see Scotland get past the group stages if it means bagging an extra 60k for the club for Dykes bonus

I think that depends how ambitious and how big our budget is.

I could see him go on loan or even be sold, but it also wouldn’t be surprising to see him continue as a squad player. He’s one of those right on the edge, he’s still young enough to improve, but not offered enough that we might look elsewhere if we can afford it.

Just don’t see a world where Mbick Leaburn and Dykes are all here next season. In my mind Mbick 100% stays otherwise we would have cashed in Jan

Isn’t it a question of economics? Leaburn is presumably not on huge money, Dykes would be on far more. So if we’re talking about squad players then let’s spend less of our finite budget on one rather than the other?

Steve Clarke said he will partly be picking the squad on loyalty, I think Dykes is nailed on for a spot
