We need to keep these stats as quiet as possible me thinks for fear of predators.4

Need to get that new Contract in front of him now...I'm not overly concerned as he seems to love it here with us, but would rather it didnt drag into next season.5

What stats?Penfolds Perm said:We need to keep these stats as quiet as possible me thinks for fear of predators.4 -
There aren't any Komodo Dragons in the UK.Penfolds Perm said:We need to keep these stats as quiet as possible me thinks for fear of predators.
I think he will be able to fight off a Fox or a Badger. 🦊 🦡1 -
It might be easier, but that doesn’t explain why his stats are so much better than others.wmcf123 said:
Because we are 19th. I also think, as busy and excellent as he is for us, that playing in the middle of a back 5 is easier than playing in a 433/442.aliwibble said:Still didn't make it into the Championship team of the season though. 🙄1 -
We do a lot more defending than the teams the best centre backs in the league play for. That’s why his stats are much higherguinnessaddick said:

I think he should have definitely been in the conversation for TOTS, but I think there are at least a few centre backs in the league that are better than Jones. As an out and out defender he might be the best, but as an overall package he isn’t better than at least a few others0
-
I think he is on record to say he wants to play in every game this season so unless he is in a full body cast I expect him to feature1

Yes SofaScore says 45 appearances and 44 starts, the game he didn’t start being against Boro.Weegie Addick said:
Not quite accurate as he didn’t start v Middlesbrough?aso914 said:
100% win record when he doesn’t start, 27% when he does. Get rid. : -)

Rumours of a transfer to Birmingham as said just rumour currently.0

Where’s that been mentioned, Chris Davies is obsessed with having a Right + Left footer cb so surely that means he’s Saying Jones is better than Klarer which Birmingham fans will rather watch their team get relegated before admitting thatRadostanradical said:Rumours of a transfer to Birmingham as said just rumour currently.2 -

After leaving Liverpool after 5 years in 2018 where he was always out on loan at Cheltenham, Accrington Stanley, Blackpool and Swindon, Lloyd has been a Journeyman footballer finally ending up at Struggling CAFC in the summer of 2023 from Cambridge.
Birmingham, Wrexham, plus any of the teams in the playoffs, Millwall, Hull and Middlesbrough will be interested in Lloyd Jones for next season if Saints win the playoffs.
Just my opinion but I don't feel at 30 LJ is Premier class but he a top Championship CB who CAFC should do their up most to keep with a wage increase.
If Lloyd gets a chance to have a 100% wage increase and a signing on fee it could be a difficult problem.
A year left on his contract.

I got it privately by a source, could all be bollocks to be fair but person has been right before.0

It would take silly money for us to sell, and at 30 after one good season in the championship we’re not getting silly money in for him.1

Biggest problem is clubs are not interested in 30 plus year old now, there all looking for younger playerssoapboxsam said:Radostanradical said:Rumours of a transfer to Birmingham as said just rumour currently.

We should try and offer an improved deal to him and imho should be potentially our highest earner. He's been the real deal and put in consistently great performances.9

This. Plays every game and is recognised by both fans and peers as way out in front as the best player at the club. Surely that equals best salary?Addicksi said:We should try and offer an improved deal to him and imho should be potentially our highest earner. There's a fair few that should be on a lot less by the same measure!
One year left is crazy situation for such a valuable player (to our club). He isn't irreplaceable, BUT, what would it cost the club to replace him with someone of equal quality, effort and most importantly, fitness.
If it would cost say £3m to buy a Championship proven replacement, surely he's worth £1.5m extra on his pay packet over the next three years.6 -

Thats wishful thinking IMO, maybe in Premier League at Championship level they care more abput the players that will get them out of the Championship. They will see spending 3 or 4 million as a wise investment for a 30yo CB if it gets them to the premier league and all its riches.doronron said:

Out of interest what would you call silly money? I think our owners would be tempted by 3 or 4 million for him and for a team hoping to get promoted next season they woulddntbcall that silly money to spend on Jones.Diebythesword said:It would take silly money for us to sell, and at 30 after one good season in the championship we’re not getting silly money in for him.0 -

like I said, silly money1 -
Without Jones we get relegated. Selling him for 3 or 4 million would be a terrible call. Double that and maybe there’s a conversation to be had9

Would have definitely been the case this year whether it will be next year depends on how good of a summer we have.NabySarr said:Without Jones we get relegated. Most of that squad is guff and won’t be tradeable for anything but freeCrispywood said:

For championship level a lot of them aren’t good enough but will do a job at L1 level there will be takers. Ahadme definitely won’t Burke wouldn’t, Kaminski probably not, Macca probably not maybe players like Z.Mitchell, Dixon you’d just throw in a sell on clause but I don’t see why you can’t get a fee for anyone elseoohaahmortimer said:

I think permanent deals will be pretty tough for any of our senior players that we want to move on. They’ll be on good contracts now with the promotion wage bump, it’ll be loans or we will have to pay them offCrispywood said:

I think Mitchell is probably the only player we will get a good deal for. Could maybe sell Gillesphey to league 1 but the fee is probably just going to cover what we’d have to pay him for him to agree to take the wage drop to league 11
