Championship 2026/27

Us, Millwall and West Ham in the second tier.  The last time that happened was the 92/93 season.  The season when LWT used to rotate us, Millwall, West Ham, Luton and Watford on the Big Match Live on Sunday afternoon.  I recall Millwall drawing 2-2 at West Ham that season.  Brian Moore going Moraleeeeee as Millwall went 2-1 up.  Strange what football memories stick in your head from your childhood

Preston 18 and Bristol City 17 seasons in the Championship, without ever being promoted to the Premier League is ridiculous, when you consider the teams that have made it up.

For a long time Ipswich were a team seemingly stuck in the Championship too, though they had a relegation before their recent success.

Wrexham and Lincoln have never played in the top flight.

Millwall have played twice in the top flight and Bristol nine times.  

Preston were founder members of the football league.

Have you not seen the Hollywood film starring Leonardo Di Caprio as Phil Parkinson and the owners as themselves called 'Wrexham win the Premier League in Overtime'? George Dobson won an Oscar for best supporting actor.

I think its more likely his hair wins best supporting actor than Dobbo himself

What's the odds none of them will have a Saturday 3pm Kick off. 

Well there's not a hope in hell that either Millwall-West Ham game will be a 3pm kick off. 

The championship playoff final is the showpiece of the EFL season. There's no way it will be delayed or cancelled, there's too much money to be made and there will be sunk cost too.

Southampton will get a fine and we'll carry on as normal.

Could see that happening. Not really sure what a proportionate penalty would be. Can't imagine they gain a huge amount watching training sessions after Middlesbrough have already played 46 games that they could have had scouts at. 

But it's still cheating.

It would amuse me to see Southampton kicked out of the Playoffs, if for no other reason than to upset the cocky young kids giving it the big ‘un with their binoculars.
