Watching this match reminds me of the gulf in quality between League One and the Championship, and really highlights how well we did to stay up this season as the team that went up via the Playoffs. More to come from us hopefully, but the gulf in quality between the 3-6 in the two leagues is pretty massive. I'm so glad we're in the Championship, I hope we keep it that way for some time to come.
I think this year's L1 playoff selection is pretty weak. Stockport have finished 3rd two seasons running, but got 10 points more last season.

Luton and Plymouth both had relegation hangovers which left them just too much of a gap to close, but to me both teams are stronger than the 4 teams in the playoffs.

Forget the play offs. This should be the sub par Charlton striker shield

Thanks for that, I've not kept that close of an eye on League One. Stevenage definitely don't look up to much. I think the Orient of last season would smash them.

Who was it that kept Edun out of the side for us? Sess and someone else? He's looked good at Peterbrough and now Stockport whenever I've seen him since he left us, but felt like he barely got a chance when playing for us. Scores the odd goal from LB as well.
Was coming on here to say the same thing. Haven't watched much of him since he left us but he's an absolute regular in a top league 1 side and always seems to get very good ratings on fotmob. Been making me wonder if there was an error letting him go, especially given our issues in that spot.

But as you say he didn't do much when he was with us. Also maybe better in a back four?

Straightforward 3-0 aggregate win for Stockport.

Too many businesses just pay travel expenses for interns which is a fucking piss take. Especially difficult for grads coming out of uni who can’t get a job and feel like they have to take it for experience.

We get approached for internships all the time and I will only take someone on if I can afford to pay them a proper salary

One thing I hope doesn’t happen is the intern being vilified. Southampton (and lots of football clubs!) pay their interns poorly and the lad was clearly working under instructions trying to get his foot in the door of a very competitive industry. I’m sure lots of us would or did bend rules here and there to attempt to get somewhere in the world
How poorly paid are we talking?

Is this an assumption or is the intern salary known?
Reportedly £6k a year, get away with it by calling it a work placement

    (Link doesn’t work for me)

So I don’t know how to put the £6k into context.

I associate an intern with a short term (weeks/months only) assignment. So not clear in this instance for how long they are working.

Regardless I take your general point but would think (hope) it wouldn’t reflect badly on the individual as their CV will simply show a temporary assignment at a known place in a role. If anyone needed to put 2 & 2 together on a future job interview (elsewhere) it might just provide a useful talking point.

To be fair, 45p a mile from Southampton to Middlesbrough and back is a fair old wedge
