The question to be asked is why hasn’t he left Oxford before now ?markmc68 said:Not a rumour but I’ve always liked Cameron Brannagan from Oxford. Got a bit of everything. Goals. Assists. Good passer. Aggressive. Leader. But 30 years old. Proven championship player who I’m sure would relish another crack at the championship. He’s clearly a much better player than they would traditionally attract. Surely he would’ve moved by now if champ clubs thought he was worth it?2 -
On the subject of Oxford Poles... What about their (former) number 7 released this week - worth a punt? Not seen him properly just remember him looking quite dangerous in clips. Seen he is injury prone too, so a good fit on that front.
Interesting seeing the comments about Azeez & his lofty valuation, and then seeing that he played alongside Harvey Knibbs in the same Reading team in 23/24 where he got 8 and Knibbs 11 goals.
Azeez went on to score 2 in 34 in his first Championship season with The-Team-That-Couldn't-Beat-Hull-At-Home (he did have some prior Champ experience with Reading) and as we know, Knibbs got 3 in 26 in this season, his first at this level. Could this be a big season in store for Knibbs?Granted, he is a bit older, and there's obviously more to the game than goals, but an interesting pattern (in my opinion anyway!)5 -
He's a very good player but i'd say it's his lack of physicality / pace etc - yes he's aggressive, has lots of nouse, knows where the net is and is good at set pieces but i think he lacks what we need to move us up a gear and that is some rangey, pass and move fluid players who can carry the ball around the pitch - that isn't his game but is what i think we'll be looking to add across the midfield spotsAberystwythAddick said:

I'm holding out hope that Knibbs will have a big season next year after a full Nathan pre-season and more time with the squadfelix_31 said:On the subject of Oxford Poles... I would have thought Anderson will be off anyway. If we have genuine aspirations of mid table next season, then unfortunately hes one of the players who need not be in our squad.thenewbie said:
If Savage was (hypothetically) signed that would leave us with Knibbs, Carey, Savage and maybe Docherty and Anderson all competing for one or two places which seems excessive. I'd imagine at least one or two of the above to move on before this happened.Covered_End_Lad said:
Savage would play in the 8, would be a very good signing in my opinionRothko said:
He's in the same mould as Knibbs and Carey isn't he, when we're looking for a ball player?Crispywood said:Doubt we even look at him because he’s the complete opposite profile of a midfielder Jones likes but charlie Savage at Reading apparently up for sale at only 800k.4 -
He's an oddly priced player now. in 2022 Blackpool triggered his release when they were in the Championship and he was all set to go until Oxford basically torpedoed their wage structure to keep him. There was talk that that contract was somewhere in the region of £20,000 a week at the time and he's signed an extension since then. It was worth it to Oxford but now you've got a 30 year old who has two seasons of Championship football in his career, one of them ending in relegation. He's only really a realistic target for a team at the bottom end of the Championship but he would be substantially more expensive to pay than a younger player who may have a higher ceiling. Considering how upset people seem to get on a daily basis that we reportedly pay Kaminski around £20k and he actually had a season's Premier League football and 4 in the Championship as well as a Belgium cap when we signed him I don't expect we'd enjoy spending that on Brannagan much more than other teams around us would. I don't think he's been a realistic fee signing for teams since he signed that first bumper contract in 2022AberystwythAddick said:

Wrexham/Parachute clubs will be throwing a promotion party tonight off of the back of that2

Please not another 30+ player, no sell on value.markmc68 said:Not a rumour but I’ve always liked Cameron Brannagan from Oxford. Got a bit of everything. Goals. Assists. Good passer. Aggressive. Thankfully already have the 3rd lowest wage bill, and we have 29 players under contract so a lot of room to move people on and free up even more funds. We aren’t going to massively benefit from this like Wrexham/Brum+ Parachute payments but brings many more teams down to our levelNabySarr said:https://x.com/jpercytelegraph/status/2055249720847556834?s=46Big changes to the financial rules have been passed. So to clarify, is that now Jack Currie, Michal Helik, Przemyslaw Placheta, Stan Mills, Cameron, Brannagan WIll Lankshear and Brian De Keersmaecker people have recommended me sign from Oxford's team? Hope we've got a yellow away kit next year!10

Luton is SO last year, Oxford is the trendiest scouting location right now.Garrymanilow said:So to clarify, is that now Jack Currie, Michal Helik, Przemyslaw Placheta, Stan Mills, Cameron, Brannagan WIll Lankshear and Brian De Keersmaecker people have recommended me sign from Oxford's team? Helps clubs to act sustainably, brings a few of the mid table sides down to our level in terms of spending but benefits those coming down from the Prem with parachute paymentsBedsaddick said:

I think I’ve seen enough of Knibbs to think he’s got something about him to step up if he has a good pre season. Intelligent footballer with goal in him too. Needs to up his fitness to be one of Nathan’s favouritesYannTheMann said:

Looks like you can add up to £10m in equity so the rules are a bit more flexible. So probably doesn’t limit our spending at all if the owners are willing to do that2 -
Apologies if I missed him being mentioned elsewhere or earlier in the year, but are we assuming that our interest in Shinnosuke Fukuda is dead and unlikely to be resurrected?0

The Japanese are masters of subterfuge and deception. I fully expecting to see him haring up and down our right flank when we kick off the season, thus bewidering our opponents.Exiled_Addick said:Apologies if I missed him being mentioned elsewhere or earlier in the year, but are we assuming that our interest in Shinnosuke Fukuda is dead and unlikely to be resurrected?0 -
Good player but don’t think that’s one for us. In our system he’d be the middle centre back, and we already have Lloyd Jones. Don’t think we’d spend a fee on getting a backup and don’t think he’d want to join knowing he’d be a backupBraziliance said:0 -
I’d have a look at Panzo that was released by brum,
