The Saudis are clueless about sport - all about money for them.charente addick said:I am golf mad and have never watched more than about an hour of LIV golf.
When I'm watching sport I want to make sure I'm watching the 'real thing'. In top golfing terms that is the 4 Opens, the Ryder Cup, some of the more highly ranked PGA tournaments, the very top DP World tour events. I will also watch the Solheim Cup, women's majors, Walker Cup and some other top amateur championships. They mean something, whereas, to me at least, winning a LIV golf tournament or championship means sod all. I'd rather watch a pre season under 21 game ahead of LIV golf.
The Saudis completely misunderstood the golf fan in investing in LIV. It would be like trying to take over English Football and making it a 10 team league with no relegation. They, and their like, can take over individual clubs but the traditions must remain.2 -
So now Liv is dead, what happens to the players.i am not certain of my facts, but is there a maximum number of players to hold tour cards on the main circuit. The players at the lower end of the scale would have spent time and money playing the lesser tornaments earning their card. Many of them will be scraping by trying to make cuts and earn some money to pay expenses, caddies, travelling hotel rooms etc.etc.So my point is,will Rahm ,DE chambeau and others come straight back into the fold, thereby displacing players who are already there, having earned millions from LiV.

Aaron Rai looks to have won the US PGA…3

Will be the first Englishman to do so since 1919. Will be the first European since McIlroy in 2014.Callumcafc said:Aaron Rai looks to have won the US PGA…1 -
Unbelievable golf from him today, that 68ft putt on 17 for birdie, wow.Callumcafc said:Aaron Rai looks to have won the US PGA…4 -
McIlroy has it all - apart from being able to keep the ball on the fairway & birdie the par 5's.
Steady Eddie won it this time around.1 -
Great performance from Rai,kept his nerve for a faultless back 9 while others floundered. This is the beauty of golf, unlike most other sports, somebody can come from nowhere and win titles.2

It was a very good major in all.
If golf wasn't such a power game then Rai would already be higher in the rankings and with more wins. The course allowed different types of player to flourish.
It's nice hearing comments like Xander saying "he's one of few players who practices more than me". I don't think anyone on tour has a bad word to say about Rai.

Yeah was great to see a major won by one of the shortest hitters on tour. Delighted for Aaron, he seems a real humble class act.Every course is different and every challenge should be different. This was a great set up, leveller, and kept the fans engaged right to the end. There needs to be more to golf than pounding it 360yds.3

I never like golf courses that are not a par 72 & only having 2 par 5's lessened the excitement for me. Also showed that have a par 4 at around 300 yards is no gimme.AFKABartram said:Yeah was great to see a major won by one of the shortest hitters on tour. I’m the opposite. Reducing the number of Par 5s is one of the reasons scoring remained so tight.golfaddick said:

It's that time of year again........the US Open.
Being played at Shinnicock Hills, the scene of one of the worst shows of unsportsmanship in 2016 (imo). Phil Mickelson incurred a 2 stroke penalty for hitting a moving ball on the 13th green. Basically didnt want his ball to roll 50 yards down a slope so ran after it & hit it before it came to rest. He should have DQ'd himself.
But perhaps he wont turn up this year having just been banned from his Golf Club for sexually harassing the staff.
I'm usually against heckling golfers but this week I'd make an exception & hope he gets all what's coming to him.4 -
Not one for cheering Americans, but great to see Bud Cauley winning the RBC this weekend. The longest running tour player without a win, 239 tournaments!2

Easier to win where there is no McIlroy, Scheffler, Rahm etcAFKABartram said:Not one for cheering Americans, but great to see Bud Cauley winning the RBC this weekend. The longest running tour player without a win, 239 tournaments!0 -

Rory just 1 off the lead if you ignore Wyndham Clarke. He should be better placed but bogeys on 17 & 18 scuppered him being 2nd all on his own.0
