"Thomas Tuchel's has picked his centre-back options for England at the World Cup...

    Dan Burn IN
    Jarell Quansah IN
    John Stones IN
    Marc Guehi IN
    Ezri Konsa IN "

Apparently Noni Madueke is in. I think Eze is a better player by far so hope it’s not at his expense.
Instead of Bowen and/or Gordon I expect.

If Jordan Henderson goes over some of those who have missed out it’s an absolute joke, he’s not been good enough to play for England in about 4 years
Especially if Palmer is not going.

I'm aware they play in different positions but you will always need a playmaker over a more defensive midfielder.

No Gibbs White is disappointing. No Hall is baffling. I’ll never understand the Henderson love - he must be a great guy.

Tuchel gets a shot at it obviously, but I am very confused at some of the selections.

I think it’ll be a disaster this summer. Not remotely convinced by Tuchel so far. Baffling to extend his contract.

Want to give the guy a chance but agree that it was a bizarre decision to extend his contract before the tournament.

Henderson won't play a minute id say. Just going for his leadership.

Madueke being selected seems mad, was average at best for Arsenal and Gibbs White not going seems harsh on him

If vibes are that important get Sir Chris back into the setup.

I will never understand picking Henderson. If he’s that important to have around, just make him a member of staff and pick someone who isn’t about 5 years past their best.

Gibbs-White is more in form than anyone save for Kane

Shame that all these leaks are appearing, I dont remember anything like this coming out under Southgate?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but feels like all the work he did off the pitch is very quickly being undone in some respect... It'll be interesting to see the mindset the players follow if we go to penalties again, as we had a very clear / psychological approach at the Euros with them

Really surprised Gibbs-White isn’t in the squad, thought he’d be a shoe in

Toney in just for penalty shoot-outs?

Some left field calls, but shows how far English football has come since the Mclaren/Capello/Hodgson years that Tuchel is in a position to even consider leaving out some of the players that haven't made it. Plenty of very good players in the squad and a good number of very good players not in it too.

Euro 2020 the lineup was consistently being leaked hours before games, sometimes the day before. The England camp has a huge leak problem which seemed to have been fixed but clearly not

I have bias as some family are liverpool, love him and would defo take him. Has too much energy and experience and can close out games. I trust him over say mainoo or wharton.  Plus the leadership.
Lads at work years ago complained he doesnt make any forward passes (sounds like our fans, and like criticism gallagher gets now) but it got fact checked and the stats then just didn't back it up .

He is one of the easy scapegoats like sterling.

Then take him as a coach, not a member of the squad.

Not really got a problem with Toney getting picked. He is in form but as 3rd choice striker he's barely going to play. Will be thrown on if we need a goal in the last 10 minutes or if a game is looking like going to penalties.

No Gibbs-White is baffling as there's been few players in better form than him over recent months. That said if we've got Bellingham, Rogers and Eze for the AM role, then would Gibbs-White even play much?

Taking Henderson over Wharton is bizarre, but it's something most people expected given Tuchel has always picked him.

Madueke is a shocking choice because he's been awful for most of this season.

No idea why he hasn't picked Lewis Hall. I assume O'Reilly will rightly be first choice LB but if he gets injured then who is the backup there? Livramento or Burn? There's surely enough space in a 26 man squad to take another natural left back.

He’s crap. He should be nowhere near the playing squad.

About 20 of the squad pick themselves and of the remaining 6 I would say he has got every decision wrong

Not sure I understand the Henderson hate. He’s played 31/37 games this season for a team who have a very good chance of playing Europa League next season. He’s had a great season and is involved on merit.

Someone might want to tell the analytics bods at Brentford that…

Looking at his stats, he played well against West Ham, Burnley, Leeds & United under Amorim, apart from that he’s been pretty average - there’s no world where you can say he’s been ‘great’ this season.

He’ll also be 36 in a couple of weeks, has only played 86 minutes of football in the last two months and we have better players who could take his place. He is not in the squad on merit.
  • My gut feel is that we’re lucky to have a lot of players that are very good but too few to build a team around. It makes choosing the squad a bit of a lottery and focusing on who are the best team players. It strikes me that we will struggle when it comes to the tough games, but who can say? Above average but not outstanding like Brazil in their day may be the norm.

Hyperbole. Similar to how you’ve described him as being great this season.

Why are we announcing the squad before we see who's got crocked on final day?

Has the squad officially been announced yet? Ive seen about 7 different nailed on versions of it

If these are leaks as opposed to every attention-seeker on social media doing what attention-seekers on social media do then its really disappointing and hopefully it is Tuchel doing a Tyrion Lannister to identify who the leaky molerat is

Palmer has been way off it this season but I'd take him, something happens when he is on the pitch

I'd also take Shaw and Maguire, both always show up for England and deep tournemebt experience is incredibly valuable. Ivan Toney counted himself out as a serious professional footballer the second he went to Saudi. Calvert-Lewin and Watkins are ahead of him.

Foden, I don't know where he fits in the England team, I like him and he is a really good player but we seem a bit out of sorts when he plays even if he does good stuff

Trent Alexander Arnold is a defensive liability, Reese James is class but cannot stay match fit. Alexander-Arnolds delivery is a bit of a myth in my opinion as well. Luke Shaw is much more reliable as a full back putting the ball in the box and getting to the far post

Whatever we do, I think the climate and the long, late finishing season will do us in ultimately. Tournament is set up for a South American team to win it
