No Gibbs White is the biggest disappointment for me, not sure he could’ve done any more to get in.14

Can’t tell if you’re being serious or fishing for LOL. If serious, then yes you are very biased.2121 said:
I have bias as some family are liverpool, love him and would defo take him. Has too much energy and experience and can close out games. I trust him over say mainoo or wharton. Plus the leadership.arny23394 said:I will never understand picking Henderson. If he’s that important to have around, just make him a member of staff and pick someone who isn’t about 5 years past their best.Lads at work years ago complained he doesnt make any forward passes (sounds like our fans, and like criticism gallagher gets now) but it got fact checked and the stats then just didn't back it up .He is one of the easy scapegoats like sterling.0 -
Can someone please inform Nathan Jones of this?golfaddick said:
Especially if Palmer is not going.Covered_End_Lad said:If Jordan Henderson goes over some of those who have missed out it’s an absolute joke, he’s not been good enough to play for England in about 4 years
I'm aware they play in different positions but you will always need a playmaker over a more defensive midfielder.5 -
I agree with this. I'm pretty sure that if we both win our groups and get through, then our quarter final is going to be against Brazil in Miami with a 5pm kick off. The heat and humidity there is going to be a killer.Carter said:Has the squad officially been announced yet? Ive seen about 7 different nailed on versions of it
If these are leaks as opposed to every attention-seeker on social media doing what attention-seekers on social media do then its really disappointing and hopefully it is Tuchel doing a Tyrion Lannister to identify who the leaky molerat is
Palmer has been way off it this season but I'd take him, something happens when he is on the pitch
I'd also take Shaw and Maguire, both always show up for England and deep tournemebt experience is incredibly valuable. Ivan Toney counted himself out as a serious professional footballer the second he went to Saudi. Calvert-Lewin and Watkins are ahead of him.
Foden, I don't know where he fits in the England team, I like him and he is a really good player but we seem a bit out of sorts when he plays even if he does good stuff
Trent Alexander Arnold is a defensive liability, Reese James is class but cannot stay match fit. Alexander-Arnolds delivery is a bit of a myth in my opinion as well. Luke Shaw is much more reliable as a full back putting the ball in the box and getting to the far post
Whatever we do, I think the climate and the long, late finishing season will do us in ultimately. Tournament is set up for a South American team to win it4 -
Takes a good pen.ValleyGary said:Ivan Toney called up apparently. Bizarre.1 -
If anderson or rice get injured who could we put in? Or as a ‘closer’ if one is tired? Hendo fits this rolearny23394 said:Looking at his stats, he played well against West Ham, Burnley, Leeds & United under Amorim, apart from that he’s been pretty average - there’s no world where you can say he’s been ‘great’ this season. He’ll also be 36 in a couple of weeks, has only played 86 minutes of football in the last two months and we have better players who could take his place. He is not in the squad on merit.2 -
Djed fucking Spence1

Callumcafc said:Not sure I understand the Henderson hate. He’s played 31/37 games this season for a team who have a very good chance of playing Europa League next season. He’s had a great season and is involved on merit.
So he's had a better season than Gibbs-White?
I dry retch every time I think of him parading the centre circle and pointing to where he deems a pass should be made.
Cast your mind back to the WC semi-final against Croatia, in Russia, 2018.
He was a deadweight onlooker as Croatia's veteran midfield sauntered past him as though he didn't exist.
That was eight years ago, and now players - according to the leaks - like Gibbs-White and Palmer - have been rudely jettisoned to accommodate a player whose inclusion is solely based on the premise that he's, 'Good to have around'. Rather like the family pet that should be put down, but is spared by its overly sentimental owners.
The moment he skips onto the pitch in the 83rd minute to shore up a flagging midfield is the time to despair.
That said, he'll probably come on and score a worldy that puts us in the final...

I haven’t watched loads of Everton admittedly, but it feels like James Garner can do everything Henderson does, plus he’s younger and quicker.Garner also did very well in the friendlies he played.Outside of a bit of experience and leadership I don’t see what Henderson offers us - it does feel like he could’ve gone as a coach and freed up a space.6

Pleased Toney is in.4

Are Southampton spying on Tuchel as well?ForeverAddickted said:Shame that all these leaks are appearing, I dont remember anything like this coming out under Southgate?4 -
The biggest mistake is not officially announcing the squad as soon as the last player had been told he was in or out before the bush fire of gossip or fact in Big Harry's case.
Yes we knew Maguire was gutted because he and his mum 'Linda' "Disgusted" took to social media to reveal their feelings.
So much gossip as "we believe Stones is in the squad" state the BBC down to the teenage podcaster in the bedroom.
Make it official.

Like saying cant believe Dan Burn is in squad when Welbeck has scored more goals0 -
In a squad of finite numbers you can discuss if players from different positions should be in there.
Personally I'd have Palmer for his ability and Gibbs-White on his form over Gordon, Eze or Madueke.0 -
Any leaks on who's doing the world cup song?

I don't agree with every selection - Foden/Palmer missing out is right IMHO, but I'd have probably had Maguire, Hall, Wharton, Gibbs-White over Burn/Quansah, Livramento, Henderson and maybe Toney.
However, it's not that bad like some are suggesting - the big names missing out have had bad seasons, and then it's debating which second choice left-back you prefer etc.
(And on that point maybe Livramento got the nod as he covers both sides, but that seems overkill when Spence is there.)
It's nowhere near as bad as taking Walcott (and Downing) over Bent and Defoe, for example.9 -
Agree with most but there’s 3/4 dodgy picks there.1
-
I am not certain, but I am pretty sure this is the first England World Cup squad with fewer players from Liverpool than from Al-Ahli.6
-
Turn on TV and see Jay Boothroyd on SSN saying he likes the squad because Tuchel hasn't fallen into the trap of just taking names instead of taking players in form.
Look at the squad and see Djed Spence!!!!3 -
Spence and Livramento feel like "versatility" picks, at the expense of better players who just play either LB or RB.
Interesting that he chose Henderson for his experience, then chose Quansah over Maguire5 -
I think it's Burn over Maguire and Quansah as an option at RB. Quansah's only minutes for England have been at RBkillerandflash said:Spence and Livramento feel like "versatility" picks, at the expense of better players who just play either LB or RB.

I'd have taken Palmer instead of Madueke I don't rate Madueke at all and Palmer coming off the bench really gives teams something to think about
Maguire or Tomori over Quansah. Flat track bully is Quansah
Gibbs White or Wharton over Henderson
Danny Welbeck over Ivam Toney
Reece James being in the squad is just disruptive, he will miss as many games as he is available for.2 -
Burn can also play RB/LB I believe, not that I'd want to see us doing that0
-
Same here. I don't think it's possible to ever get everyone to agree on which 26 players to take.ValleyGary said:Agree with most but there’s 3/4 dodgy picks there.
Plus of course it's highly likely that unless we win the first 2 group games and rest some players for Panama or we end up in the 3rd/4th place playoff game then 6-7 of the squad might not even get on the pitch.0 -
Just three players in the squad have scored 10 or more international goals - Kane, Rashford and Saka0
