I think they’ll be fine. I’d be amazed if they don’t make a top eight playoff place. I think there’s a very good chance Sullivan will find a buyer. They are ripe for the picking at this point.jimmymelrose said:I really wouldn't be surprised to see West Ham in another relegation battle next season. Regarding new signings, their owners couldn’t get that right in a league they already knew, so what chance in a new league?

We need 3 players that we add to our first 15 and are genuine champ quality - we then play the same way - TIGHT
We Jones the first 10 games and walk away with 15 points - then I'll relax a bit.
Next season is going to be mayhem, just like this was.
I can't wait.
I also can't wait to see the kit.1 -
I wonder if there are any change of control provisions in that shitty west ham stitch up agreement. Very likely not, but wouldn't it be nice?0
-
I’ve already seen a few tweets of 26/27 predictions table and we’re bottom in one of them and second to bottom in the other 😂3
-
Yes, best to get them in an early August fixture.ShootersHillGuru said:

They don’t own their own ground. It’s a ground that’ll probably be half full in the championship. The club is a shambles from top to bottom. The fanbase have completely turned. They hate the ground. The finances are a complete mess. There’s going to be a fire sale of all their best players, who will probably go for less than their market value. They still owe 200 million in payment instalments from players that they bought a couple of years ago. Sullivan won’t let the club go for peanuts and is talking about handing his shares down to his son (remind you of anyone?). The whole club is toxic.ShootersHillGuru said:

Because they’re west ham. They see them as a big club and think they must bounce back for that reason alone. Personally I think they’re in big trouble and won’t be back in the PL anytime soon. I think they’ve got more chance of playing in the third tier before they get back to the PL.11 -

@MillwallFan is bang on with West Ham. They do really hate their ground but they were very happy to laud it over everyone when they moved there. They may get good crowds to start with, but that’ll soon dwindle if they struggle.

Think their lowest ST is £750. Think they’ll be lucky to 40k.MrOneLung said:I still think West Ham will average 50k next season0 -
I suspect they’d need to be running away with the league to achieve attendances like that and I just don’t see them as having anything special enough about them to play that well. They’d need to have almost a complete clear out and rebuild and that may not be practical or possible this summer. On top of that, they are big enough for every team in the division to up their game against them when they play them. it won’t be as easy for West Ham next season as some people are starting to say.MrOneLung said:I still think West Ham will average 50k next season

A bit like us they massage the numbers. Apparently some of the actual attendances this year were under 40k and that’s in the PLguinnessaddick said:

Thats more empty seats than the Nou Den on a non match day. The common away fan chant at the London stadium next season could well be ‘this grounds too big for you’fenaddick said:

I do find that interesting, years ago I was sure that the club understated attendances ( I always assumed for tax reasons lol ) but no every club seems to over state themfenaddick said:

I'd hate to call The London Stadium home, it looks such a soul less blot on the landscape, The Boleyn Ground is now 842 flats, but It used to be an iconic ground, and disgusting the owners took the thirty pieces of silver over what fans regarded as home and sold up...1
-
It will (nearly) always be 11v11 and fans and players will find extra zhuzh when facing West Ham next season because they will be seen as a bit of a scalp.
Just like we're facing the proverbial difficult second album next year, West Ham will be facing jeering triumphalism in an effort to wear them down. They are likely to be better away from home than at that appalling stadium.
Our issue next season is to generate more of the same we created this season, only a notch or two better.

I'd love you to be right, and West ham do a "Leicester" and go straight through the Championship into League 1, but I just can't see that happening.
Nuno will surely be sacked soon. Scott Parker is favourite with the bookies to replace him. Can't stand the spotty git but you can't deny he knows how to get a team out of the Championship - and I mean upwards, not downwards! What is it - promoted three times as a manager each with a different club (Fulham, Bournemouth, Burnley). He'll get them playing competitive Championship football.
I doubt they will carry on getting full houses - Lincoln on a Tuesday night in November anyone? - but I bet they will still get 40,000 crowds if they are in with a chance of promotion. And that will still give them a huge competitive advantage over most teams in the League.
Throw in the Board will probably realise their best chance of going back up is next season or the one after, I wouldn't be surprised if they carried on gambling with their finances to make sure they get back to the "promised land". A few of their "stars" may go but I suspect most of the squad will be retained.
And whether we like it or not, if an American buyer with more money than sense is looking for a club to invest in, West Ham must be a good option to consider buying. Given they will play practically rent free in the stadium for many more years - though I agree it is an awful place to watch football - it is a no-brainer really.1 -
A disenfranchised supporter base who feel like the very spirit of their club has been ripped from them. Massive problems financially. An incompetent board, recruitment and management team (how have they managed to get so much in debt after being gifted a state of the art billion pound stadium?🤷♂️). You don’t think this is a perfect storm for a club to crash? They are not too big to drop in to the third tier. Leeds, Sunderland and Sheffield Wednesday have all done it in recent years and I would say all of those clubs are at least as big as, if not bigger than West Ham. Leicester have done it within ten years of winning the PL, the FA cup and playing in the champions league. Take off the big club goggles and look at the facts and it’s not unfeasible.Fortune 82nd Minute said:

I bet there will be lots of comps included in that figure. They were never a 60k club anyway. They’re a decent sized club but they’re not an Arsenal or a Spurs. Their model relied on them being in the PL and drawing lots of soccer tourists. Hence the ‘London’ rebranding. Like they represented the whole of London and not just east London. And 40k attendances don’t mean that much anyway when you’re 100’s of millions in debt and still paying some huge wages and overheads. For the record, I don’t think they’ll be relegated next season and never said I did. But I could certainly see it happening over the next few seasons if they don’t get it sorted anytime soon, which it doesn’t look like they’re going to.4 -
As usual it will be a very competitive and unpredictable division. Who had Hull to go to up and Leicester to go down (many would have had it the other way round). I think as often happens the relegated PL teams are overated and may not do as well as expected. If they can sort out things internally after the spygate debacle i expect Southampton to be in the mix and i have a strong fancy for Norwich, much improved since Clement took over and freely available at around 20-1. As for us i am not surprised to see us as one of the relegation favourites, but if we make some good signings i think we will be Ok, but a top half finish looks like a stretch.

I reckon they’ll start at 30k and if they do badly, they’ll be getting about the same attendances as us. Sure, they have a bigger fanbase than us but if they're not in the top 6 they’ll be mightily pissed off whereas our fanbase is happy to be 21st.MrOneLung said:I still think West Ham will average 50k next season6 -
At no point will they have the same attendances as us
Our crowds will reduce over time if there’s no promotion push
West Ham will be up there and they will hang on to 40k-50k crowds5
