Would love us to be interested as well. Immediate upgrade.

If they get him we should try and sign Joe Walsh from QPR
Guaranteed you have seem him play once which was at the valley and not watched him in his other 20 odd games or looked at QPR’s fans opinions of him
Sounds like that game at The Valley was very very much an outlier and they're desperate for a new No1

Couldn’t agree with this anymore, he is seen as a total joke by qpr fans. people need to start forming an opinion on a player in more than just one game.

Because he had one good game against us? Walsh struggled to hold down the number one spot at QPR, made a lot of mistakes and isn't all that well thought of by QPR fans. He also only kept 4 clean sheets in 23 appearances and conceded 42 goals, which is insanely high. Kaminski conceded 49 in 37 with 11 clean sheets and for all his faults he never conceded 7 in one game. There's a reason QPR are looking to replace him. Just because a player did well when we were watching and has family that support Charlton doesn't make him a good signing. there's nothing Walsh would bring that we don't already have in Kaminski, Walsh is even regularly criticised by fans for his failure to deal with high balls and the amount he punches instead of catching.

I think Joe Walsh is a Charlton supporter, but, QPR fans don’t rate him, I’ve seen their games on Sky and don’t think he’s better then what we have

Someone in some Facebook group my wife is on, Charlton Valiants ?, reckons we have signed that guy with a double barrelled surname that Bolton released on a three year deal.
Saw this X screenshot on another Facebook group saying we’re paying £950k for a player Bolton have released…

He would be on a free …. So that knocks that story out the water
I assumed there would be a development fee
Possibly but NJ said we are not buying top league one players and Bolton were league one ??
Yeah top league one players are out of our price range so we are going for middling League one players who may fit our system

I believe "Lifes been good to him so far", though shurely he must be an Eagle?

    More James Gang.

He'd be on a rocky mountain high if we signed him

Last season preseason started 8 days (4th July) before our opening game against Dartford so you would assume similar time to that

We were involved in the play-offs until late May and at least four were subsequently involved in international matches. We will be better rested and prepared this year.

Off-season allows players to stay fit by doing long runs (aerobic) as opposed to intense sprints of football training (anaerobic).

Fitness through the season is more reliant on the former than the latter, allowing oxygen to be better absorbed into the bloodstream.

Fixture release is the next big event.

I have heard first fixture is West Bromwich Albion away.
First home fixture is Lincoln City.
    Boxing Day home to Southampton.
Final fixture Derby County at home.
….not really, but if one of those is right I will be pleased.

No they are the words of an athlete who completed at a senior level, (winning Nat Champ medals) for 30+ years

Input from top coaches and a Professor of Physiology from Surrey University.

Why does an innocuous post about our problems caused by play-offs, immediately attract a couple of sarky replies?

Out of interest, in previous seasons when do clubs start to announce signings typically.  Early June?  Is the window actually open yet?

Sonny Carey was 6th June last year but that felt very very early. Our second signing was Kaminski on 1st July

You don't stop doing anaerobic work just because it's the off season. Otherwise you're reducing your ability to operate when deprived of oxygen.

Footballers need to train throughout the year both in season and off season, with aerobic, anaerobic, and resistance work. This keeps their cardiovascular system, bones, ligaments, tendons and of course muscles strong.

Failing to maintain any of these will see a higher chance of injury as well as a lack of effectiveness - something no player wants to risk introducing to their game.

This has to be explained every summer, the players have targets and programmes, they are sent home with a smart watch and other connect kit to monitor their workload, weight, heart rates, etc, and there is no surprises on the first day back, the medical team will know what players states are when they return

Derek Hales wants to  check whether a couple of pints before a match is a no-no.
