I talked in terms of Evison not fulfilling his potential, in only averaging just 30.81 with the bat, but to be fair to him,  Crawley's is 31.49 and he doesn't have a second discipline.

I'll also jump onto this fast moving band wagon & state I shall NOT be dancing during the next 2 County Championship matches.

Woah hold your horses, your dancing is more important than Crawley’s batting

So, out are Crawley (resting), Evison (out on loan), Muyeye (concussion protocol) and Compton (still not recovered from his dislocated finger but might feature next week in the side against Middx).

I wouldn't be surprised if, with a view to not leaving us with a very long tail, we play Foreman instead of Parkinson, with the other one to miss out being Cohen. That would leave this as the team:

    Dawkins
    Finch
    Northeast
    DBD
    Ekansh
    Benjamin
    Foreman
    Stewart
    Dudgeon
    Milnes
    Mahmud

Can Surrey fans hold you to that?

Surprised about Compton. He was due to play for Sevenoaks Vine in their washed out league game on Saturday, and didn't appear to have trouble shaking hands or carrying his bag (he caught a train home with namesake Nick!). Maybe he needs a game?

Has Finch played a red ball game this season? A big ask for him to open.

He has played a couple of red ball matches for the 2s this season and did open last year for the 1s on occasions, albeit without too much success. The alternative is that Ekansh opens but I'm not sure that two 19 year-olds doing so is the best move.

Have to say the batting looks incredibly light tomorrow, dbd isn’t having his best seasons and Sam northeast hasn’t hit the ground running like I expected him to either

Fanny dancing won't change anything principally because Surrey normally draw their games whatever the weather. I'm sure I don't have to tell you that they've struggled to bowl sides out with just the one win from seven games. And that's not just at the Oval.

There are four former England players in the Lancashire squad - Jimmy Anderson, Keaton Jennings, Tom Hartley and Liam Livingstone - the last named potentially playing his first red ball game for three and a half years and since making his one and only Test appearance (against Pakistan).

Play due to start at 1.10pm

Lancs won the toss and elected to bowl

Team as below. Somewhat surprised that we've elected to play Parkinson in lieu of Stewart:

    Dawkins
    Finch
    Northeast
    DBD
    Ekansh
    Benjamin
    Foreman
    Dudgeon
    Milnes
    Mahmud
    Parkinson

What are we playing two spinners for?  pitch must be expected to turn surely?

Finch caught driving at the ball by Jennings at gulley off Anderson for 2 (12)

Overcast conditions, Jimmy Anderson with the new ball. A makeshift opener...

Looks to be a very slow outfield, ball struggling to reach the boundary every time

Northeast bowled by Balderson for 10 (41). It's been really tough going with just 16 off the bat in 15.3 overs and no boundaries

    Dawkins 4* (40)

    24-2

This Anderson chap looks good, plenty of potential.

I can foresee a bright future for the lad.

Dawkins has just hit Livingstone for six. Welcome back to red ball Liam!

50* (114) for Dawkins. An extremely mature innings given how difficult it was to bat early on

    111-2 (42) at tea

Superb partnership of 87 between Dawkins (54* off 117) and DBD (33* off 82)

Without a run being added to the score after tea, Anderson has DBD caught behind

    111-3

And Dawkins is LBW to the very next ball, the first delivery of Bailey's over

Benjamin bowled by Bailey to make it three wickets in three balls

Hopefully we push on and keep that score ticking over before losing too many wickets

Figures of 12-4-13-2 prove Anderson's gone at the game.
