The kentish Independent was printed at Sittingbourne. As I live there I used to go to the Warehouse where it was printed and get a copy of the K/I.Peter was always there and I used to chat with him.Later on during my Season Ticket days I spoke with him several times at the Valley. Rest Now from all that gallivanting to all the Grounds.

He was good friends with my mate Alan who passed away just before Christmas. I have no doubt they are up there right now, sharing a few drinks and talking about Charlton.
One of the voices of my youth. A real loss.

“And Charlton have only got themselves to blame.”
How many times growing up did we hear those words from PB, reporting from wherever Charlton were playing away in those unmistakable dulcet tones?
My aunt went to school with PB and my Granny was friends with his mother - so every Christmas, we got a card signed “from Mrs B and Peter” and there was always some anecdote or other which meant that PB was a name I knew growing up.
The end of an era.
RIP PB.
