    Very interesting.
    His stable (Minato Beya) was Ichinojo's stable (the huge, grumpy Mongolian who was a buddy of Terunofuji and won the July 2022 Basho - subsequently retired after falling out with his Master amid accusations of liking the hooch too much and not being disciplined with his training).

    As i hoped they massively overpriced the tickets. This (fantastic) arena is about the same size as the O2 and the closed le balcony so we've moved to these amazing seats!

    Also saw Onosato as i was queuing up.

    That was superb! A single elimination 1 day tournament with all the Makuuchi (I think ) 6th round was the final with the higher ranks getting a first round bye.

    Kotozakua of all people beats Kirishima in the final. Aonishiki hits the throw of the day on Ura, which i believe happened in London as well.

    That was fun. The early rounds were used to demonstrate techniques with no attempt made to hide it being scripted. Things got a bit more serious from the last 16 onwards and the last few bouts were indistinguishable from normal fights other than beaten wrestlers stepping out rather than risk injury to try anything drastic. Hoshoryu won the day but lost the grand final. The biggest cheer of the day was probably when the cameras found an extremely famous French judo star in the crowd, but then I guess the crowd were probably more familiar with judo than sumo. Amazing what a few Olympic medals can do for a sport's profile.

    Not far off a sell-out today. A few empty corners, including around me as a lot of people deserted the balcony to find empty seats lower down. I was finding the seats a bit cramped so I stayed put and took advantage of the extra leg-room. 

    Nice to see the drumming, the belt-tying, the bow ceremony and so on.
