Kent well on top, Middlesex have a very weak batting lineup, so this really is a must win game.

Unlike the moneybags counties, Middlesex have to rely on a lot of home grown players. And unlike us, they consistently manage to produce seam bowlers; all 4 of theirs in this match are home grown, 2 in their teens, Morgan 18 getting a fivefer.

Have to say, du Ploy’s wicket is comical. Up periscope, shouldered arms, whatever you want to call it, he left a ball from Mahmud that pitched outside off stump and just kept going in a perfectly straight line before the stump cartwheeled. Why do batters do that? Makes you look a right mug.

And Mahmud has bowled another. At least Falconer tried to play it. 48/4.

Parky with the much needed breakthrough.

A really interesting conversation with Simon Cook in the commentary box

To be fair the pitch is looking like it’s flattening out rather quickly.

I see Surrey are making a better fist in the second innings, after being bowled out by the mighty Glamorgan for 105 and following on. It looks like they need Fisher back to reinforce their batting  ;)
