Has been mentioned a few times we are interested in Sambou Soumano. Talks are now at an advanced stage
Thanks for the information. Do you know if we're still interested in Holsgrove?

Obligatory YouTube video for Sambou Soumano... https://youtu.be/r36advUv-iw?si=TaZqcVSrwri0crGr
Three things stand out from that.

His goal celebration with the waving of his hand in front of his face is pony.

French 'keepers are even more pony.

He's got that Henry-esque finishing technique where he lifts the ball over the onrushing 'keeper.

Thanks for the news mate once again. Would definitely like to get this one completed, feel he has that unpredictability surrounding him that could lead to success.

Looks like he would be a "Jones type player" too, not the tallest but likes to mix it up and throw himself around a bit.

Would Soumano take up one of the 4 GBE slots alongside Sichenje?

And Dixon too. Soumano might get a work permit for playing in Ligue 1 but not sure

Yeah I'm not sure on all the ins and outs of criteria.

    Dodgy translation:

At the end of his engagement with FC Lorient, Sambou Soumano will pack his bags and leave the Breton club. The 25-year-old Senegalese striker has left behind a very correct statistical record since his arrival at the club in the summer of 2024. With 21 goals scored and 6 assists delivered under the Lorient colours, he proved his effectiveness and his ability to weigh heavily on the opposing defences. Today, the player is looking for a new ambitious sports project to confirm his talent.

Of course, his status as a free agent does not go unnoticed. If several teams in France and Turkey quickly checked its name to strengthen themselves at a lower cost, it is in England that the interest is now the most bright. According to our information, the player's athletic profile is very pleasing across the Channel, with very concrete touches emanating from Derby County (Championship) as well as Charlton.
Do they all speak French over in East London?

I've had a look @MarcusH26. Soumano could only get a maximum of 13 GBE points (you need 15 to get a GBE) from playing in Ligue 1 & finishing midtable. It will be lower than that because he didn't play 90% of available minutes (I think) so he would need to use a ESC spot (the exemption thing) as will Sichenje and Dixon.  We might have been able to get Dixon a GBE using this clause but it feel unlikely

The Exceptions Panel shall only recommend to The FA that a GBE be granted if it is satisfied that either: ...the Youth Player shows significant potential and is of sufficient quality to enhance the development of the game in England and justify the Exceptions Panel recommending that a GBE be awarded.

So Godden would be an unreal addition to the coaching staff... Has all the key skills our current forwards struggle to combine.

He could be. But he also still has more to offer as a forward for us. He made a difference late in the season.

He’s also said he doesn’t want to be a coach

Going by you tube videos only (as never heard of him) for 24/25 & 25/26 I'm underwhelmed. So many of his shots seem to be miss hit. It's a no for me but only going on you tube vids.

I'm hearing Godden might be signing on for another year. I can't provide my source though
Won't believe it until Ronnie confirms it next week
Why you always having a pop at him - bit boring now
Do relax. He's not always having a pop at him. It's called banter.  You know - humour?  Known 'Ronnie' for years and he thrives on it. Have you never considered that?

Standard on those YouTube compilations to show any goal or bit of skill twice , usually the second is dodgy slomo 😅

Isn’t the poster Ronnie Moore a convenient conduit for those people who have bullying tendencies and have a compunction to make themselves look and feel superior?
Or is it gentle tolerant loving ‘banter’?

Get him in, it’s good to have options and provides something different to Josh. He was a decent stop gap whilst Josh was injured. Having a natural fullback is invaluable

That more or less reads almost exactly like any number of articles written when we first signed him (rated by Liverpool but no opportunities etc etc) with the added mention of his loan to us. Pretty generic and not convincing me its anything more than speculation.
